How to Get There
I love Switzerland.
Adore Lac Leman.
This hotel is expensive. Very expensive.
Yet “Something” is missing.
The place is, obviously, catering to a clientele that have left this “planet” and accept a quality of experience that is either unacceptable or indifferent.
No kettle in room meant 3 attempts to get a cup of tea - each visit from the room service bought missing items from the original order. Though I suppose the 24 CHF for a tea was probably acceptable as that included a sachet of sugar and a little milk.
The ironing board and the iron never did appear.
The breakfast was inconceivably poor. Worse still they had run out of basics that could not be replaced as it was a “holiday”.
The reality is nothing really mattered or destroyed the enjoyment of Switzerland.
That’s Until you get hit with a $700 for a single night. Incorrect benefits and an overall feeling that my reality is very different to the one at the President Wilson.
If you are prepared to pay for things you don’t receive - you will enjoy this place.
One again - Bonvoy - you get it terribly wrong.
I spent 1 night in this hotel in Geneva. Location very central and in the structure both a classic and a renovated environments coexist.
Spacious room, good gym and amazing breakfast.
The sushi restaurant next to the pool is delicious!
I stay at elite properties globally. Positively I can say you will get clean sheets and a hot shower in a good location. Other than that there are other options. The level of service is average if you need nothing out of the ordinary. The price of amenities is nearly criminal, and if you require any level of service or communication you can forget it. If this hotel were in a city with the level of option you would find in London, Paris or Shanghai they would have no choice but to improve due to competition. As there is less competition in Geneva they are able to be an overpriced and mediocre property in beautiful location.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice hotel with comfortable bed, close-ish to the center of Geneva, and amazing views of the lake, but given the price you pay, the room and bathroom was pretty standard. The TV was the weirdest thing ever that was impossible to turn off (and the turn down service would keep turning it on). I actually had to unplug the TV to get it off and to prevent the turn down service from turning it on again. The hotel needs some serious TLC. Compared to the Metropol Palace in Belgrade, which is also part of the Luxury Collection, this hotel was quite underwhelming and not a good value for your money. It’s because of that that I give it a Poor rating.
The staff completes a hotel and the staff in this hotel certainly is top quality - attentive, anticipates our needs, cheerful and respectful. The hotel is modernly decorated and has its own character - quietly and tastefully luxurious. It’s location is a bit further from the city center than other hotels but still within walkable distance. Also the hotel provide free transportation cards within the city and the yellow waterboats are very easy to travel in. The rooms are nice though the walls can be a bit thin. My main concern is with the bath area because the floor gets easily wet as the glass that separates the bath area from the rest of the toilet extends only half of the bath tub. In addition there are no safety handles to hold on when getting in and out of the bath tub which is slightly higher than what we are used to. They provide coffee cups and coffee machine but no tea making facilities. I asked for tea bags to be provided and they were given without tea cups (the coffee cups are small - slightly bigger than espresso sizes). They delivered tea cups when I asked for them but I have to call housekeeping for this every day. So, I gave up having tea. Other than these issues, we had a wonderful 4 nights stay.
