Suites and villas
Suites and villas here are expansive, each with its own outdoor Jacuzzi or private infinity pool. They offer a relaxed atmosphere and design, with warm wood and walls tiled with natural stone, all kept cool with a ceiling fan and air conditioning. Each comes with a sheltered patio and spacious bathrooms with lovely, large tubs and separate rain showers.Jacuzzi suites feature a large bedroom and outdoor patio apiece, while Jacuzzi villas are the same size, but detached, with a slatted ceiling and garden views. In the Sea Front Pool villa, you get unobstructed ocean views, dining and sunning decks, a private lawn and a separate living room.
Wild Ginger Restaurant offers a comprehensive mix of both Thai and Western dishes to suit your palate. For a special evening, a private chef for dining in your villa can be arranged, as well.
Warm up your muscles with a session in the resort’s fully equipped fitness center. For something less strenuous, step into the Sarann Spa – try the full-body Thai massage, or one of the spa’s traditional treatments.
The hotel is close to the island’s dining and nightlife area. Transportation can be arranged to various landmarks – or, simply take a tuk tuk to the nearby nightlife area: a whole street full of pubs and street-food spots.
How to Get There
We stayed at Sarann for a week at the end of November in one of their private pool villas. It was nice, the bed was comfy and bathroom was big with a separate lounge area. The hotel is old and a bit run down with paint coming off and markings on the walls. The toilet and shower were clean but we had to ask housekeeping to get rid of a bad smell from the drainage which they immediately fixed but it was back a couple of days later. We soon realised that it wasn’t the hotel but seems like a general issue in Thailand as the sewerage smell was around in random places. We didn’t complain about anything as the view from the room was amazing. The pool right outside the bedroom, overlooking the ocean and waking up to that view every morning was priceless. The pool was also lovely and clean and it was nice having your own privacy. The other thing that made our trip were the staff. They were all very lovely, friendly and ready to help kinda people. They are so respectful and appreciative (especially when you tip). The evenings got bit boring but there’s always the choice of taking a walk to the neighboring restaurants and resorts. There is access to the beach (nice beach for swimming but have to swim far from the Sarann as stormwater drain close by draining into the sea). We dined on the beach one night at a different restaurant which was lovely in the moonlight. The beach has cute stray dogs who joined us (we are big dog people). The Sarann celebrated the Loy Krathong festival and we all made our own and at night we put them in the water. This was very interesting and we enjoyed the BBQ buffet dinner and traditional dances that night. The main pool is also really nice to relax and swim in. The bar offers happy hour 1-5pm which was good for us. We also had many discounts including a daily 10% off and had so many massage vouchers that we could not even use them all. The spa and massages are very good too. We did the honeymoon package (2.5hrs) and enjoyed that very much together.
The location is a bit far from Chaweng beach where the main buzz is, but we preferred it that way. They do have a suttle bus that can take you in at 1am and 3pm or $300BHT if you go any other time. We didn’t like the main Chawenng arena very much so we’re glad we didn’t stay amidst it. The Sarann was way way better in terms of location and view. They also have a yours desk 9-5. We booked a private half day tour for the same price as a normal tour thinking we scored a good deal (which we did!) but the private one was just with a driver (with a ver spacious car) but we did the tour on our own and didn’t really know anything about what we were looking at especially at the grandfather and grandmother rocks. It was still nice to be chauffeured to where we wanted and stay as long as we wanted or skip anything we didn’t need to view, in the end, still worth it. The wild ginger restaurant in nice with a good selection of meals. Breakfast daily was good with a chef that can make you eggs how you want. We ate and drank a lot in this trip at Wild Ginger, which was really good overall. They also dropped us to the airport at departure and we were very happy and thankful to have chosen this resort. If they maintained the property a bit better this place would be 10/10, but still, we would definitely go back and stay on next trip.
The Sarann is situation a short distance away from the main hype of Chaweng Beach at the peaceful end of Chaweng Noi Beach perched along the rocky outcrop lining the south end of the beach. The resort has a boutique appeal from is intimate restaurant overlooking the ocean to its private pool villas stretching along the foreshore.
The one great thing about the resort is that there are no small rooms with each of the suites and villas having their own individual courtyard outdoor spa and spacious interior. The open plan living areas are light and airy, with custom local furnishing’s as well as a walk-in wardrobe and an ample bathroom, with its center piece being a large free standing bath. The courtyard suites have an open-air spa that is big enough for four people as well as a private courtyard. For those looking for a bit more space and an extra level of indulgence there are also pool villas which have a prime position along the foreshore of the resort, complete with a large outdoor area and private pool.
The resort is typical of more boutique hotels and doesn’t have the typical large amenities of larger resorts, but this was seldom a drawback. The main shopping and party precinct of Chaweng is only a few minutes away by car which the staff are more than happy to arrange for you, and there are also several free shuttles throughout the day.
The beach here is more peaceful and cleaner than Chaweng and you’ll often find you may have the whole beach to yourself and there are also neighbouring resort styled bars and restaurants on the beach that are a great way to wile away a few hours.
Compared to other villa styled resorts on the island, the Sarann offers great value with spa suites starting from $99 USD in low season and pool suites around $260 USD. These prices are generally around twice during peak season. But for those looking for a tranquil five star experience without the prohibitive price tag of other comparable resorts on the island, it’s a perfect place to base yourself, central enough to the eclectic ‘delights’ of Chaweng yet providing a perfect retreat to come back to time and again.
I must say that the staff (all of them) really go out of their way to help you. Nothing is to hard for them to organize for you. Restaurant is very reasonably priced and very tasty. Great location on the beach. Infinity pool has ample deck chairs and towels. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. I would have ranted 5 stars, but it does need a little TLC on the fixtures and fittings to bring it all up to date.
It was a very nice stay at The Sarann. They have everything for baby ie. High chair, baby cot. And the hotel is stroller accessible. The staff are all very nice and helpful. My baby and I enjoyed it so much.
The room is massive. Good size when you come with baby and have lots of stuff with you so you don’t have to worry about the space.
I stayed in the jaguzzi villa but inside the bathroom there is another big bathtub which I put my LO in while i’m getting ready. It’s just so convenience.
The view is spectacular.. Totally recommeded and will come back again.
This was our second stay at The Sarann in an Ocean Front Villa and it won't be our last! During our ten night stay, we are at the restaurant 3 times. Each time it was delicious. I had a private dinner set up in our Villa with the help of the lovely staff - it was just amazing. Wat, Jin, Ann & Am (I hope I have these names right!) greeted us everyday with a warm welcome and I truly believe not just them but all of the staff at this resort enjoy just being kind to people and that is quite rare these days! We have stayed in both high season and low season and the great service by all staff staring from our airport pickup, check in, housekeeping, the spa, the restaurant, the chefs - they are all amazing.
We prefer to stay out of busy Chaweng & enjoy a bit of peace and quiet - but we hire a scooter and go into town daily which is an easy ride when you learn the way.
If you are looking to stay in Chaweng Noi, I believe this is the best place available! We will be back!
