How to Get There
High class resort with a premium location on a super beach. Luxurious but laid back, superb staff providing the friendliest of service in a magnificent setting. Fantastic villas, right on the beach, with a short stroll the central pool and bar. From barefoot breakfast to dinner on the beach, all tastes are provided for
Just relax and let go, you are with friends and they are all there to take care of you...just let them do what they know. What is to be experimented besides the great offers this property has to offer is the Spa in the forrest. Just let go and leave experts like Pam to take care of you...she will speak to you in order to understand your issues and then propose and perform treatments that combine massage, yoga and other techniques to help you relax and release the pressure. My husband had a Thai massage in his first days with another therapeut and was not that much convinced by it, there was still tension even after the treatment... He made another attempt with Pam and the results were visible and deeply sensed by him. She was simply able to tune in and understand without too many words where is the tension building in the body. Just let her do what she knows best and you will feel it instantly! We are grateful to have met and worked with her, her advice and help is still very present with us even when returning home!
This resort is a true gem. It’s located in a quiet village where luckily over-tourism has not yet arrived. The beach is amazing with great service and comfortable sun beds. Although it was quite busy at times, it never felt that way. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My wife had to undergo surgery in Koh Samui and the hotel helped us wherever possible to keep things smooth.
You honestly can't go wrong choosing this hotel for your stay in Koh Phangan. My partner and I stayed here for a 4-night stay during January of 2019 and absolutely fell in love. The actual facility is gorgeous. We unfortunately couldn't take the boat straight from Koh Samui to the beach due to conditions, but once we got out of the van that transported us to the hotel, we were both in awe. We absolutely loved the open-air concept and were glad that we checked-in before we even got on the boat back in Koh Samui.
After getting a brief tour of the hotel grounds, we walked through a beautiful and lavish pathway to our Ocean Garden Pool Suite. The actual room was very well-appointed and particularly liked the amount of storage space available. We also liked that the TV was simple and had an Apple TV connected to it.
However, the best part of this villa is certainly the outside. The sliding doors leads you to a beautiful cabana with a plunge pool in front of it, and beyond that is the ocean. We couldn't believe ourselves when we walked to the beach and literally saw maybe 30 people on the beach and even less actually in the water. To be honest, we really didn't move from the cabana or the lounge chairs on the beach for the duration of our stay, there was really no point. We actually didn't even use the plunge pool because we found it to be much cooler than the ocean for the most part.
The food was quite good for both breakfast and dinner. The breakfast buffet is fairly big, not as big as other hotels during our stay in Thailand but still more than adequate for the size of the Anantara. We did a seafood BBQ dinner on the beach one night to celebrate our 3-year anniversary, and it was exceptional. We also did a 4-course meal for dinner one night and it was also very good. Overall, we thought the food was great and the service even better. We also did one activity during our stay at the hotel, which was the cooking class. We thought it was a lot of fun and the food that we made was great! Highly recommend doing this during your stay here, if you have the time.
The village surrounding the resort is also very cute and you'll find less expensive food there and options to buy booze. You can also get great massages in the village that are less expensive than the hotel spa. Definitely worth checking out during your stay here.
Lastly, I just wanted to thank the hotel for having the bottle of champagne ready and the room decorated for our 3-year anniversary upon arrival. It really did give us a warm welcome and we really appreciated the gesture. I'd recommend anyone to stay at the Anantara, and I also know we will most definitely be back very soon. This was one of our most memorable stays during our 16 day trip in Thailand. Cheers!
We were nicely greeted and shown to Ocean Pool 41, a lovely room. It is spacious with plenty drawer space, and a nice semi outdoor bathroom and shower.
The bedroom overlooks the sea. We didn't like the netting surrounding the bed at night and the staff quickly removed this for the rest of our stay. Outside towards the sea there is a patio with chairs, a small pool and a day bed. We had everything we needed.
Breakfasts were good, not exceptional. Service, especially from the very cheerful May was immaculate.
We mostly had dinners in the village; it’s a three minute walk and there are some excellent authentic Thai restaurants there.
We we especially liked the JIP restaurant.
Laundry is also very inexpensive in the village.
The gym in the hotel was adequate with a couple of old but working treadmills.
We would love to return
