Get to know the lifestyle phenomena of hygge (cosiness) and lagom (not too little, not too much) firsthand on a trip to one of Scandinavia’s coolest capitals: stylish Stockholm. This laid-back city is home to magnificent museums, impressive palaces and, of course, an ode to ABBA (you can perform your own tribute at the city’s interactive exhibition). The terracotta roofs and surrounding azure waters give the city a Mediterranean feel, further enhanced by its boat connections to its surrounding 30,000 islands.
Stockholm’s sights are within easy reach of the perfectly placed Elite Hotel Adlon. Start your day with a delicious breakfast spread before discovering the shabby-chic streets of Gamla Stan and the colourful waterfront promenades of this most chic of cities. The boutique-filled shopping street of Drottninggatan is just three minutes’ walk away, while the Old Town and Royal Palace can be reached in a little over 10 minutes. End the day sipping on a cocktail at the retro-inspired hotel’s restaurant bar before hitting the hay in your cool Scandi-style guestroom.
How to Get There
Wonderful location, really lovely staff, good family room, very clean and attached to very cool bar and restaurant.
Breakfast was lovely too, really above average selection.
Directly across from arlanda express.
Good location - very near train station from airport ( less than five minutes walk ) , within walking distances to attractions ( Old town, shops etc). Restaurants, bars , other hotels nearby. Stayed on the fourth floor with a view to Main Street below but it was still quiet. Stayed a night in single room which was slightly small but quiet adequate. Travelled solo .
This is as good as a hotel can get, when you're looking for a place to stay "in the middle of it all".
Very close to the railway station/bus station/subway and also very close to a lot of shopping.
The breakfast is good with something for all tastes, but still nothing out of the ordinary.
The downside is if you don't like noise and have a room facing the very busy street outside...
We arrived around 6 pm on a Sunday evening as did a few other guests and there was only one member of staff on duty, she worked hard to get customers checked in as well as responding to issues by phone so I have no criticism of her. However senior management need to ensure that they have adequate staff on duty.
Once checked in we got to our room which looked tatty but adequate. We then noticed several dirty marks on the floor including sticky patches. So I called reception and the lady apologised and said she would find another room and bring a key upstairs. Within 5 minutes she was upstairs knocking on our door and taking us to a much much nice room! A room with a seating area and a carpet on the floor well we felt we had gone from basement basic to penthouse suite! Not quite but the rooms were so very different both in size and quality! So we were very happy.
Breakfast on Monday morning turned out to be a similar affair in that whilst there were lots of table available, they were either unclear or they had been cleared but not cleaned. The room and food bars felt grubby that morning and I was quite put off of eating there. Again they appeared to be short staffed, with not enough staff to clean and clear. We also had the 10 minute warning announced very sternly that breakfast would be closing in 10 minutes, a bit like being back at school! However the next morning was just as different. Tables were being cleaned and cleared the eating areas felt cleaner and much more appealing to eating there. There were more staff cleaning up and replenishing breakfast stocks and no stern morning announcement!
The hotel is situated close to Central Station and the Arlanda Express. It is walkable to the old part of the City.
Overall mixed feelings about our stay.
A nice an well situated hotel.
Staff is exceptionally friendly and subtle.
Room is clean and well equipped.
The shower is as in whole scandinavia- questionable. after flooding (normal shower) - the entire bathroom needs to be wiped.
The door of our „handycap-friendly“ room was damaged.
There is breakfast included which was in a good standard.
I can surely recommend this hotel and would come back anytime.
