See Sweden’s Stockholm from your base at this renovated 18th century building in the quiet Vasastan neighborhood. Hotel Hansson is lovingly managed by the Hansson family, who come from the pretty area of Grebbestad off the Swedish west coast. The rooms at this small hotel are newly designed, all with a view over the rooftops of the city. Start the day with a delicious breakfast buffet before heading out to explore.
Wooden or brick floors and traditional details like exposed rafters all add to the charm at Hansson’s. There’s something about a luxury en-suite bathroom contrasted with a romantic old building that makes for the perfect boutique hotel, wouldn’t you say?
How to Get There
The staff were pleasant enough but the 5th floor (directly under the roof) certainly shows signs of wear. Either it was too hot or too cold.
House keeping left a lot to be desired, the bathroom was barely cleaned from one week's end to the next.
Friday and Saturday night it was almost impossible to sleep for the noise of the drunks and cars roaring up and down the street!
Stayed for four nights in late August. Traditional, older hotel on a relatively quiet street off the main drag. Good metro and bus connections into the centre of town. Friendly, professional front-staff. Having an elevator is good. My room on the third floor looked out over an interior courtyard garden, and was very quiet. Room and bathroom very clean, comfortable bed. Excellent buffet breakfast. My only downside is that there is no air-conditioning, and during the recent heat-wave the room was quite hot in the day, even with a provided fan. Evenings cooled off quickly.
Very enjoyable stay.
Our large extended family had a great stay at Hotel Hansson. The location is good; close to shops and fantastic restaurants (try the creperie across the street). It is a bit of a hike to the old town (20 mins) but a very short walk to the metro.
The hotel itself had a wonderful old European feel. We had two rooms and each was unique. One with grand vaulted ceilings and big windows overlooking the street. The other room was more rustic with exposed wooden beams. Both had way more space than you would ever expect in Europe for the price.
The breakfast was also excellent, with many fresh selections.
But by far the best reason to stay at Hotel Hansson is the staff. All very friendly and helpful. Andreas in particular went out of his way to help us on several occasions, right from when we were booking the rooms, until a week after we checked out. He is from Stockholm, so he has a wealth of knowledge about the city. If you are staying at this hotel be sure to speak with him.
I will stay here again when I am next in Stockholm.
