How to Get There
I ended up in Nacka, wondering if I had chosen a hotel too far from town. The answer is no. Nacka is quiet, and the Hotel J is a refuge from the city noise. Outside my balcony, I could watch the trees dance in the wind. As I left my room, I had a postcard view of the water.
The hotel serves a delicious breakfast buffet. The rooms are quiet, and you can get there via the ferry or the bus to Nacka Strand. The staff treats each customer as a VIP.
3 nights spent there with the family (couple, 2 young kids) and it was wonderful. The family suite was OK but the surroundings of the hotel are gorgeous. Beautiful views on the water, calm, relaxing place. Good breakfast in an older house. 5” away from a restaurant focused on seafood that was good as well. Possibility to go through boat to the city center. In a nutshell a very good place not so far away from downtown.
We stopped by the restaurant for dinner,no one at the reception desk that stood outside so we went into the restaurant only to have a member of staff greet us with “ stay outside,I will come when I’m finished here” great way to welcome guest.
Eventually he came out ,grabbed two menus and said “come” ,conversation seems to be rationed in this establishment.
The food was good ,well cooked but unfortunately, the staff were nonchalant and obviously not very well trained as they didn’t seem to understand a table requires condiments.
This is a lovely restaurant in a beautiful place and one we have visited over the winter when it is quiet and the staff are welcoming and attentive .
This hotel stay was a gift to my parents and having read so many wonderful stories about this hotel and its restaurant I was very excited for them to stay there.
The location is stunning especially as it was a beautiful sunny day and the hotel itself is very beautiful. However this weekend there was a wedding taking place in the hotel and it is clear that they could not accommodate both the wedding party and the other hotel guests. Firstly the restaurant was closed for the wedding party so any dinner had to be taken in the cafe, I suppose you can live with this fact. However from taking the order to actually deliver the food was an astounding 2 hours wait, the excuse was that the wedding was taking up all the staff. And when the food eventually arrived, one portion was burnt and the other raw!!!!!!! It was very clear that the staff could not cope as a couple of them were close to tears. However if you have a large wedding party do not accept any other hotel guests or at least inform the other hotel guests that there will be a large wedding party and then the other guests will at least have a choice. Working in the events industry myself the lack of service was inexcusable and I feel very let down.
I have stayed here lots of times, mostly business trips. Very nice, stylish interior.
Personell is super nice, especially Maria who is a great host with an ”nothing is impossible” attitude.
Breakfast in the old villa is impeccable.
