Beautiful & quiet environment, excellent hotel
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Hotel is situated in the eastern suburb of Stockholm, a municipality called Nacka. It can easily be reached by bus (#443 direction Jarlaberg) or ferry (pendelbåt #80 direction Sjövägen)—of course, we preferred the scenic 40-minute boat-trip, each time almost a voyage in itself. Btw, you will find the detailled schedules for both at the reception. The hotel is cutely nestled between the Baltic and a strip of forest, which makes the premises perfectly calm and quiet (we even spotted a fox one evening). Our J Deluxe-room with garden view was spacious, perfectly cleaned every day, and decorated in cosy Scandinavian style, with an extra-large, really comfy bed. Reception and rooms are situated in discrete, nice outbuildings; the main building (Tornvillan) houses a bar and the breakfast room. We had dinner in the bar the first evening—nice and cosy setting, good wine (albeit expensive, but hey, this is Sweden) and excellent food. The breakfast buffet was exceedingly scrumptious: excellent coffee (special mention for that as most of the time breakfast coffee in hotels is very nasty), organic food (cheese, cold turkey, ham, vegetables, porridge, scrambled eggs, several fresh fruit juices, different types of milk incl. lactose-free and soy milk, home-made yoghurt and many more things). Discreet but friendly and smiling staff. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Repeat visit, scenic & relaxing vibe!

This was my 2nd stay here, love the cottage getaway esxape vibe... away from it all. Very modern nautical feel, good service, beautiful views and convenient to take the boat into town. Would highly recommend, great for all stays!

Beautiful waterside hotel with lovely rooms and delicious breakfast
Reviewed 1 month ago

This is my fourth stay at Hotel J - it is always wonderful to visit Stockholm and Hotel J is the perfect spot to stay. It is situated a short bus ride or ferry trip from the centre of Stockholm and is located on the water. The rooms are beautifully decorated and always impeccably clean. The breakfast each morning is delicious too, with several varieties of fresh bread, meats, cheeses, eggs, juices, pastries and pancakes. The deckchairs on the lawn outside the hotel are the perfect spot to enjoy the peaceful water views and lovely gardens too.

Beautiful location

We had lovely stay at Hotel J for the long Easter weekend. The hotel is simple but very comfortable with everything you need for a city break. The beautiful views and rural setting mean you get a peaceful break but the water taxi leaves from just outside the hotel which takes you into the city centre in about 20 minutes. Good food and this hotel is in a great location.

Design hotel let down by poor housekeeping
Reviewed 3 months ago

Waterside hotel about 30 minutes from Stockholm city centre by taxi. The hotel consists of a number of old buildings and some modern blocks. The rooms in the modern blocks are typical Scandi in style. The public rooms are in the older buildings with the exception of the reception and a lounge area. Parking in the underground garage is available at a cost of SEK 100 per day. There are pay and display car parks outside the hotel. The ferry service pier is just a few minutes walk away and a pleasant 20 minute ride will take you into the the heart of the city. Depending upon traffic the hotel is up to 90 minutes from Arlanda, outside peak this journey can be under an hour.

The hotel is let down by the poor housekeeping and some aspects of the room design. The bathroom was poorly lit by two wall lamps making shaving difficult, more so as the mirror quickly steamed up. The rooms themselves were only given a bare minimum of attention. Waste bins were left un-emptied, shower gel not replaced, floors left dirty. Many of the power sockets in the room did not work.
