How to Get There
Waterside hotel about 30 minutes from Stockholm city centre by taxi. The hotel consists of a number of old buildings and some modern blocks. The rooms in the modern blocks are typical Scandi in style. The public rooms are in the older buildings with the exception of the reception and a lounge area. Parking in the underground garage is available at a cost of SEK 100 per day. There are pay and display car parks outside the hotel. The ferry service pier is just a few minutes walk away and a pleasant 20 minute ride will take you into the the heart of the city. Depending upon traffic the hotel is up to 90 minutes from Arlanda, outside peak this journey can be under an hour.
The hotel is let down by the poor housekeeping and some aspects of the room design. The bathroom was poorly lit by two wall lamps making shaving difficult, more so as the mirror quickly steamed up. The rooms themselves were only given a bare minimum of attention. Waste bins were left un-emptied, shower gel not replaced, floors left dirty. Many of the power sockets in the room did not work.
I did quite a lot of research on hotels in Stockholm, and finally chose the gorgeous Hotel J. Impeccable service, beautiful rooms and grounds, its own dock to take you to center city (the trip is minutes and beautiful), and the restaurants exquisite.
This hotel is one of the best, maybe the best, in Stockholm. Fantastic rooms, friendly staff, nice surroundings and delicious breakfast.
The rooms, in New England inspired style, are all very nice and many of them have excellent view over the water.
Just sit down and watch the majestic boats pass.
I like this hotel and because of that, I book it more often. It's better in the summer though as it's such a nice boat ride directly into the city center. Of course, it's getting older like me. But it's still a very nice laid back hotel on the waterfront and I will come back next year for sure.
I stayed there for a business trip and arrived very late. The reception was very friendly, but to find my room was really confusing. Plenty of floors, not very good signposted, even if there is no one to ask during the night.
The rooms are large, but a little poor equipped, especially the bathroom. There is nearly no possibility to drop down your belongings. Space enough is there. The bed is very comfortable. I slept very well and it was really quiet. But my understanding of a design hotel is different to that what I found there. Ok, design is a matter of taste. Anyway, most important to me was that it was very clean. WiFi worked very well, too.
The breakfast in the beautiful villa is not 4-star like. Less choices and only drip coffee. With a little bit more effort it would be really good.
I was very positive strucked by all the staff. Everyone was helpful and always alert. Even the location by the sea is nice. You don’t feel like staying close to a metropolitan city, it’s more like in the middle of pure nature:)
