What a fun and relaxing time in Sagutuck

What a neat experience . The time spent at Maplewood very relaxing, the Maplewood is located perfect. You can walk to shopping, dinner and the waterfront. The hotel is very clean and run professionally. We will go back totally enjoyed. The people that run the hotel is great

Probably not returning...

Very sweet, Victorian style B&B. Gas fireplace in room added to our 1st wedding anniversary weekend. There was however, no special treatment for our very special event. It had some terrific antique touches, but could use some significant structural work to address sagging floors throughout & the like.
Also, the first morning Saturday), we were woken at 9:00 AM to the sound of a loud player piano right outside our room! Really?
The upshot is it is right downtown, but I would not recommend this property.

Dated hotel in need of update

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. There is a difference between “charm” and outdated. When walking up the very narrow creaky stairs, the hotel clerk noted it was a hundred year old house as she showed us to our tiny room. No excuse. The doors didn’t close properly and you could hear everything in hallway. The door knob got stuck every time you used the bathroom. No going quietly in the middle of the night. No bedside table on one side. No updated electrical outlets or even a power strip. I had to unplug lamp in order to charge my phone. Only a very small area to set stuff and they had dumb trinkets taking up space. Sheets were thin. Bed was hard. Breakfast was not appealing at all. We left and went out to eat. Pool is small and not an inviting area. The only thing going for this place is location to shops and restaurants. A few small touches could go a long way. Some of the other rooms were open and did appear bigger but guessing they cost more too. Would not recommend.
