How to Get There
Been here for a Business Conference forn3 days. Although very beautiful looked a terrible experience to me. Found a cockroch in my room, got locked out with key not working, walked long distance to front desk and not worked again, and got more than 30 min to have assistance... been here 8 years ago and was totally different.
The hotel spreads over a vast area so be prepared to walk a lot to get around. There are golf cars that will bring you from one place to the other and you just call, then they will pick you up. The lower class of the rooms, the further away they are located. Might be worth to pay a bit extra for a Master room. We received a proposal upon our arrival and upgraded on the spot. Unfortunately the new room had a heavy smell of mold and we had to wait two nights to move to another room. The staff was extremely helpful and assisting us in any way.
Breakfast and dinner is included in the price and so are soft drinks hence only alcohol need to be paid for. The food is excellent with a great variety changing every day. Lots of options and types of food so you will never eat the same. Lunch can be had in some of the restaurants and is reasonably priced although a bit expensive for locals. The bar/restaurant Dendé in the main building is open 24/7.
The staff at the reception is extremely attentive and very helpful. In general the staff is very well educated and always saying good morning when we met them.
For families with infants there are baby kitchens spread over the resort offering micro waves, milk powder of many types of brands and freah fruit. You can even order a special baby food for you baby which will be delivered the next day. You can also borrow a stroller for the entire stay, but this is not written anywhere so we brought our own.
The hotel is good but not great. In order to really become a 5-star hotel following suggestions might help:
-the staff in Dende and Sombra do Mar need to be more attentive. Several times we arrived and waited 10 minutes with nobody even paying attention. We ended up going to the bar to order, just to be told that the waiter will take our order at the table. The service here is simply not good enough and we decided to have lunch elsewhere because of this.
-the rooms must be without mold as this can cause serious health issues.
-the water in the taps smell heavily of plastic. Can it even be used for brushing teeth?
-the cheaper rooms have noisy air condition. The first night we spent in such a room and it all seemed a bit run down. Maybe a general renovation would be about time?
-general finish of the rooms. In two of the three rooms we stayed in the wc was loose making noise when sitting down. The tiles were loose in one of the rooms. Windows in the bathroom were dirty.
-quicker replies by email. We sent an email asking if we could borrow a berth for our newborn baby. Only after a week we received a reply - while we were slready there! We were however pleasantly surpeised to see that the berth was already in our room upon check in. Had we known this then we wouldn’t have carried our own berth all the way...
-the spa is great however more options for massage oils should be available. My wife went for a massage where the only option was a very smelly, heavily perfumed oil. Well, she could choose another for a surcharge of 45 reais. Maybe offer an oil without odor/perfume?
-the place is filled with families with small children. Why not install a baby changer in each room? Or at least offer the option? We had to change our baby on the bed, something which is a bit cumbersome during a whole week.
-we stayed close to where the cleaning staff park their waggons. The area is noisy as the staff talk loud and ram the cars.
-on the first day we stayed on the 2nd floor which was quite difficult as we had to lift the stroller up the stairs several times during the day. There are no elevators. Maybe families with children should be put on the first floor? That would be a nice gesture.
All in all a nice place but with room for improvement. Definitely not a 5-star hotel but a good 4-star.
We stayed for three nights despite the outrageous cost as there are few options in the area. The resort is vast - like 15 minutes walking end to end. The pool areas are great. Overall, the grounds are a bit run down with broken tiles, general filth, etc.
Service was fabulous and staff learned our names quickly. We got tired of the food pretty quickly and it was about the same each time. The baked goods and desserts are pretty good. Salads, veg and meat are just ok. Lunch at the lower pool area "Sombra do Coqueiral" was expensive but fabulous (grilled salmon and chicken provencal). There was live music nightly which was nice.
Our room was definitely 1-2 star. I guess it was one of the renovated ones but it was pretty awful. No place to sit comfortably except outdoors with the insects and heat. The AC was too loud and cold. The room was moldy and generally gave us both sore throats every night. Not pleasant. Service was great, however.
The beach here is not so nice - a narrow dirty strip. The coral areas nearby are pretty dead. We didn't go in the water.
Praia do Forte (20 minute walk) is a strip of eateries and tourist trinket shops. Not a lot to see. Kids will like the Turtle park.
Overall, the place is just ok. Five star price but many elements of less than five star accommodation. I would not recommend it.
Very pleasant stay
We spent nine days at the Tivoli EcoResort in Praia do Forte and enjoyed it very much. We were 5 people, two couples and one child. The resort is beautiful, very large with all the amenities.
The efficiency of everything is the most relevant note. Overall, in all aspects, nothing special there is to point out.
The beach is good, the pools very good, very beautiful and clean, the gardens and lawns beautiful and very well maintained.
The food is very good and did not hurt either of us. The drinks are very well prepared and even the ice is minimally reliable.
The Hotel is very orientated to receive families with children and has everything needed to make life easier for parents. From special meals for children, Kids club, with swimming pool and amusements, nurses that can be hired at the time or the day that work very well, etc.
All the hotel staff is very professional, efficient, polite, friendly and well dressed in beautiful uniforms.
The spa is beautiful and has a great area to enjoy and to do various activities.
There is a nice shopping area and several small ballrooms with games, tennis courts and sports activities on the beach, in the pools and even I saw horses for strolling on the beach.
The rooms are good, although they are already a few years old and have an eco / rustic philosophy; the bathrooms are modernized; some rooms are far from the central area where are the restaurants the pools and bars.
The air conditioning in the rooms is difficult to regulate.
There is wifi throughout the hotel and even on the beach although in some places it is weaker.
The transfers to and from the airport work very well; the distance is about 55 Kms on a busy road, but in any case, for those who come from another country, that course of one hour is a bit scary mainly done at night, which was our case.
We loved to be on the lawns by the beach, swimming in the warm water sea on the beach that ends on one side in a beautiful cove and stretches interminably in the other side; it is a very good way for walking.
There are guards who guard the entire resort and there is a toll to get into the property upon arrival by car.
It has been a very good and different vacation that we enjoyed very much.
A small note for the Hotel if it wants to receive advice from clients who are very used to travel and to stay in good hotels: the room service menus and the one of the bar service on the beach should be renovated and more diversified..
And why not serve fruit dishes at the beach bar, as there are so good fruits at the Hotel?
It was our first time in this beach resort and we were extremely surprised and pleased with what we experienced. The beachfront is stunning with warm and clear waters. Facilities spread over a well-groomed garden fully integrated with local lush tropical vegetation. Plenty available staff in all areas of the resort were super friendly, there were activities for all ages, including a separate swimming pool reserved for adults (something more common in boutique hotels). The SPA, gym and tennis facilities are good but are under a renovation plan and the food was delicious. Only one advice: still there are rooms not yet renovated so when you make reservation/check-in ensure you ask for a unit in the areas already renewed (typically in the second floor or closer to the SPA area) - we had to change rooms during our stay which was a little disappointing but Guest Services heard and understood our complaints and tried to compensate for the troubles.
