How to Get There
Tivoli @ Praia do Forte is a very nice site for family vacations 'guaranteed' by the always good Bahia weather! It's conveniently located at a walking distance from the small city center with many local craftmenship shops and restaurants.
The service was poor. The bedrooms lack quality to be a 5 star, the mattresses quality is very, very poor. Food in restaurants is average at most. Cocktails are disappointing. Front desk doesn't clearly explain amenities and if something is out of order.
If you’re considering between Iberostar or Tivoli and traveling with kids your best decision will be Tivoli
+ great beach/pool structure
+ good food
+ tons of activities for your little ones
+ close to downtown
On the flip side and based on the price you will pay the fair comparison need to be based on same level hotels right? So the downside of the hotel will be:
- the worst bed I had ever sleep. I left the hotel with a massive pain in my back
- you need to keep a card to get the towel every time - c’mon we’re in 2018 and this brings you the feeling that they don’t trust on you or on their employees
- restaurants and massage are absurdly overpriced. You pay here more than abroad for a “ok” food and weak massage
- service is average. You don’t have the feeling people are there to support or serve your family. Two small examples: when we get to order our toddler food it was after their 9:30am schedule that they accept new orders and no option was given. Other example when you use the golf car to move inside they don’t like to wait if you go to your bedroom just to pick something (you need to wait usually close to 10’ to get one)
- hotel need some basic renovation. We came with one toddler and one newborn and the baby kitchen nearby was out for use so we were left without any support close by
- Internet was really bad and in our bedroom non existent
So all in all its a great resort to stay with the family but for the price you pay you will be disappointed for these small things that I mentioned above. They clearly don’t deliver on the price they charge.
The resort is a secluded slice of heaven. From the moment we checked in we felt welcomed and relaxed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They have staff members that speak a variety of languages so you are able to find someone on staff to help you if Portuguese is not your native tongue. Many staff understood English which was especially helpful for us. Every staff member was genuinely friendly and helpful.
The room we had was amazing. Open and spacious. Beds were super comfortable and luxurious. Even though it was August we did need A/C sometime so it was nice to have that option.
Food on the resort is fantastic. Every meal offered a myriad of choices including vegetarian, gluten free options and local cuisine. The desert bar alone is worth the visit.
The concierge serves works very hard to help you book excursions within the resort and off the resort. Each activity is worth fairly priced. We tried the small boat whale watching, private romantic dinner, ATV ride and bicycle ride. So much fun.
There are many pools to choose from and all are excellent. There are also many area around the pools and resort just to get away and relax in comfort.
The private beach offers great views without being disturbed by people hawking goods.
the hotel has one of the most beautiful leisure areas, overlooking a small beach with restricted access. The only problem is the distance from the rooms. Highlight the excellent cuisine, especially for the breads and sweets produced in the hotel.
