How to Get There
On the foothills of MT Etna, is this sprawling 27 acre property with good views of he mountain and the sea. Monaci grows its own vegetables, fruits and wine and serves these in their property. All very good. There are several rooms spread over the estate, each different and a brief walk from the main building which is home to the central facuities e.g. bar and restaurant and the swimming pool and spa.
The hotel is very kid friendly and the service and staff very energetic and responsive.
Good wifi connection through and the only fault ,that could not be remedied through our stay was faulty air conditioning in our suite, making the experience in the suite quite uncomfortable.
There was also some problem in the kitchen on our second night, leading to a rather limited offering and a disappointing meal.
The manager was very apologetic and visibly engaged to set things right.
All in all, expensive but a good alternative to pure hotels, especially for couples and families.
I can honestly say that this is the best location I have ever visited in my life. This should be rated as 10 star. Not only for the incredible location, the unique stryled accomodation with the miuntest of detail created in every room, the charm and talent of the service staff, the incredible gourmet meals served at all times of the day, the barmen and service of the centure ... but it is the spirit that fills the place with serenity and spiritual awakening of the soul. And if you are fortunate to meet the owner, Guido Coffa, you will understand why - the man embodies the spirit of the Sicilian Earth, His love for this land is unbounded and it shine sthrough in all you will experience.
We loved this place! What a fantastic, well looked after and welcoming hotel.
We stayed in the very spacious elegance suite which was a special treat for my Husbands 50th The two rooms, are at the top of the hill, are huge and connected by a lovely sitting room. With two teenagers in tow it was well suited to all our needs. We arrived late in the evening but were welcomed with a preorder of a cheese plate delivered to the suite with a bottle of local wine.
For the following two days we chilled and explored the local area, especially Etna.
The restaurant is to die for and I had one of my best meals ever - especially the pistachio dessert.
Also loved the cool bar vibe..
Thank you to everyone that made us so welcome, we will be back!
From where can i start writing about this paradise from the hostess Ada that i had the chance to meet her , for all the people that work in the estate that give you the most warm and welcoming service i ever had and you feel like a guest that visited a good friend.for the amazing food, the unique experience of tibetian massage, pasta lesson and so on
You get in this place and you dont want to leave will come back august for sure :)
From the moment you arrive at Monaci your breath is taken away by the beauty, charm, and serenity of Mt Etna and how perfectly the property fits in with the surrounding landscapes. Originally we had booked Monaci and planned to use it as a base to explore the rest of the Northeast region (Taromina..etc). However, after 1 day of relaxing by the pool, looking over the vineyards and ocean, drinking negronis in lounge chairs, and eating fresh seafood pastas by the pool, we found it impossible to leave.
The highlight of this property is more than just the appearance of the majestic mansion set against the vineyards, but mostly the relaxation and peacefulness you feel by being surrounded by the mountains, views of the ocean, and vineyards and fruit orchards everywhere. Our room was a small hike up a hill (depending on which one you booked you could be a 5 minute walk to the main house) and it was nice to take a walk through the gardens and orchards to see all of the many fruit trees, chickens, and herbs that the property uses in their cooking on our walk home from dinners.
We really enjoyed the natural elements of the property mixed with the Five Star luxuries of the room and services of the resort. Things such as a wine tasting one afternoon, happy hour every night in the bar with live jazz music sitting outside at sunset, and 5 course tasting menus in the evenings overlooking the ocean in the distance as the sun is setting. The dinners and lunches are were all wonderful. The house where the dining room and bar are located are in stunning condition and they mix authenticity with unique modern art and original details of the home (i.e. original grape presses..etc). I would definitely come back here not only for the beautiful property, the good wine and food, but also the amazing staff who made our stay so special (Thanks Alberto!).
I would note that I've been to many authentic "masseria/farm house" style resorts and I would not compare this to them. The resort is definitely catered more towards international travelers (i.e. everyone speaks english, the service is very quick unlike normal Italians, and you are expected to eat earlier in the evening..etc). It is expensive compared to other hotels but it's worth every penny in my opinion.
