How to Get There
The One & Only Wolgan was a wonderful experience from start to finish from the General Manager to the wonderful staff who take care of the villas.
The meals were amazing and the whole team took great care to note dietary restrictions and to adapt accordingly. We never once had anything less than a magnificent breakfast or supper.
The rooms are incredibly comfortable with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy hanging out. The linens, bed and pillows were of high quality and conducive to a good sleep. The plunge pool was especially wonderful on warm days.
The wildlife is abundant and you literally can’t go a minute without seeing kangaroos, wallabies and wallaroos. I would suggest taking a night “safari” for the opportunity to see the amazingly cute wombats who come out mostly after it cools. Matt, our guide, was amazing in his knowledge and desire to make sure we saw all we could possibly see.The birds were also fun to spot and identify.
Deserving of special note in addition to Chef Nancy Kinchela were the meal staff. Jessica was warm and welcoming, Katie brightened the morning with her fun sense of humor, Holly is one of the kindest most caring people we have ever encountered in our many travels, and Sabbath couldn’t do enough to make sure our suppers were exactly as we wanted.
Ian, who welcomed us in the lower parking area and brought us to the lodge, was warm and friendly and very knowledgeable about the history and traditions of the area.
My facial with Rachel was one of the best ever. If you have a chance to enjoy the spa I think it is well worth a visit.
The entire staff worked hard to make our stay special.
A few suggestions: sun umbrellas are needed at the outside lounges as the sun can be brutal negating the ability to sit outdoors. This is such a peaceful place and ideally suited to couples that perhaps an age limit on children as so many resorts are doing could be imposed. Perhaps no children under 8 or 10 would work. Listening to boisterous children during meals can take away from the overall experience. A ban on cell phones in the dining room would also be helpful. We experienced a couple of hiccups but they were so minor they’re not worth detailing.
Clearly, this is a resort worth visiting.
What an amazing place, thanks to James and the wonderful Wolgan team for creating more lifetime memories for us. A stay at Wolgan Valley is definitely one of life’s must do activities.
The setting is breathtaking, the wildlife spectacular but even that pales to insignificance when you compare it to the level and quality of the service, the food, the wines and the beautifully appointed villas.
All the food was amazing from breakfast through to the degustation dinner, backed up with a great selection of wines and all made better by the wonderfully engaging and enthusiastic staff.
We participated in the free activities and paid for additional ones, and again they were enhanced by the passion of the Wolgan team.
We enjoyed beautiful treatments in the One and Only Spa, once again they were wonderful , tailored and totally relaxing.
If you are fit and active, the self guided walk to the Glow worm tunnel is an absolute must do. The scenery, the birds, the views and changing habitat were breathtaking and the team ensure your safety in packing a gps, radio for a return pick up, water and delicious treats to eat on the way round.
You must view the nocturnal animals, so many wombats and participate in the stargazing, so many stars.
We truly could not fault anything or anyone, the staff and the service are fantastic, so thank you all for a memorable stay and guarantee we will be back very soon.
My husband and I would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Emirates One & Only Resort, Wolgan Valley for making our 10th wedding anniversary a memorable occasion. We have previously stayed at the resort and knew, should we return, we would not be disappointed. We enjoyed it even more this time as we were more familiar with the property and participated in more activities and nature walks. The resort is one of a kind and allowed us to relax and recharge after a busy year
We were in awe of the beautiful scenery, the serenity, the privacy, the amazing food and mocktail selection (we don’t drink alcohol). Wait staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable about all the ingredients in the meals and were quick to notify us of any ingredients in our food that would go against our dietary requirements. Subhash, in particular, took it upon himself to replace the ice cream in our desert containing alcohol with one that was alcohol free.
We would also love to thank manager James for his hospitality, Sonia in the dining room for her bubbly personality and attention to detail as well as Marco and Holly. A big thank you also to Imogen who took us on a wonderful and informative sundown tour. Finally, thank you to the staff who located an item of clothing I had left behind in the villa, long after the villa had been cleaned, and express posted it to me. We will see you again next year!
We went to Wolgan Valley for our honeymoon. We were lucky to have a beautiful weather in October.
The service was superb, absolutely every detail was thought of. The place was impeccable and fantastic. Huge estate with many activities.
I would not necessarily recommend the walking tour, the tour by car was nicer.
There were two bicycles left on our porch and we used those to get everywhere.
A wonderful, dreamy two days were spent there on our honeymoon.
This is our sixth Australian luxury lodge. Great job team! We loved our stay and was always made feel welcome. The food and service outstanding. Every single meal was perfect. The local Australian wines were just lovely. Our room was perfect with everything you need and more. Our mountain bike rides were great. Thank you Simon, Haley and Simone for looking after us so well and making our stay perfect.
