How to Get There
I thought long and hard before booking this escape as it is not inexpensive, but what an amazing experience. The meals were delectable, each and every one. The service was fabulous from start to finish ( staff were attentive, Manager James, a delight to converse with) and the heritage villa, almost felt like home. Loved the indoor pool where i could do my morning exercises...no need to visit their gym ( which looked well-equipped) I really enjoyed the lovely sculpture exhibition, beautifully placed around the property. I was surprised to see families there, but there were activities for the kids, so they didn't bother. Just relaxing on the screened off back porch in the rocking chairs gazing at the beautiful scenery, watching clouds roll in and out and the sweet wallabies munching on the grass is something I won't forget in a long time.Three nights here and you feel you have been away for a week, totally refreshed and revitalised. No regrets. We will return!!!
Spectacular! This is high-end travel at its best. Luxurious villas, breathtaking scenery, delicious food and unforgettable experiences. Surrounded by the Wollemi and the Gardens of Stone National Parks; a glorious setting with an extraordinary range of opportunities to immerse yourself in activities in the Australian bush. Thank you to James, Nancy, Monique and all the Wolgan Valley team. And an extra thank you to Simon, Jake and Bronson for going the extra mile; by the pool, at lunch and in the bar.
We recently spent 2 nights in this hotel and the only thing I’m sorry for that it wasn’t more.
I loved the villas, furnished to the very last detail (Kangaroo for kids, lovely bedsheets, nice swimming pool), offers a lot of privacy and lots of Kangaroos in the morning :)
Hotel restaurant offered great selection of wines and meals, service was lovely and food delicious.
I was not sure what title to use for my review.... Yes, Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley is a memorable place. The first reason for this is the location and setup. It is stunning! It's a GO GO!
The Lobby is splendid, very well furbished and beautifully decorated. You would never leave it! Staff is very warm and nice, but I found the "regular" staff a little bit unprofessional at times, considering the standards that are to be expected.
Our big disappointment, was the dinner part. First of all, the waiting is way too long. Spending over 2 hours waiting for your meal, is too much, especially if you have planned activities after dinner, if you have had a long day or if you have children. I am not being fussy, everyone in our group had the same feeling and I know other clients felt the same. Staff appointed for dinner service is also not very professional, clumsy, which made orders and service more painful. The choice on the menu is scarce, portions are small. Dinners were not a source of pleasure for us over the 3 nights we spent there.
I did not try the SPA as the only time I wanted to book a treatment there was no availability. My fault for leaving it last minute, but I recommend you book your treatments in advance if you want to make sure to enjoy the SPA.
We have loved all the outdoors activities, all the guides/rangers were top, positive, sharing, professional and dynamic. This is important since I can only imagine that if one decides to go there is to enjoy the outdoors?!
I have to point out that there is a big playroom for children, which is always nice to have at hand when you have young ones.
The rooms are very spacious (at least ours were), just like a big house (maybe a little too big lol) overlooking the beautiful mountains. At first glance, the rooms are WOW. But if I may say, once you start going into details, there are a few things that deserve to be fixed: cleaning service did not suit our outdoor activities schedule for instance. We would leave our rooms early in the rooms, and back at about 10.30-11.00am. Rooms were still not done........ Water pressure in the shower was really bad, bad enough for me not to wash my long hair or it would take me ages. AC was difficult to manage in the room. Once you start "living" your accommodation, you can feel that it has grown oldish. I did not feel the "clean" aspect, which for me is something really important. Pillows were a little smelly. I did not point it out since I do not sleep on pillows anyway. Once, I had specifically left my laundry bag so it could be collected AND I had warned reception, but as I came back at the end of the day, the laundry bag was still there, although turn down service had been done. Little details.... but quite a few! Nevertheless, our journey was really good, and that is maybe because we aimed for wildlife and outdoor activities. Not sure I would feel the same if I came only to relax and treat myself, considering the price. I think it is a fantastic location, with a beautiful setup, just needing a little update.
A truly fantastic experience for all of our family, so good my 11 year old son offered to sell his PlayStation to return!
The scenery is breathtaking, the service exemplary and the food amazing. You will not be disappointed.
