How to Get There
It should be noted that this dump, like many other Sheratons I’ve stayed at recently, is a franchised property — which might explain some of its problems.
We checked-in with a wannabe snob at the front desk who had such a condescending/holier-than-thou attitude it was unbelievable and set the tone for a disappointing stay. We had to BEG for an upgrade from this clown and then when we got to the room (which was supposedly a full suite) we discovered it was actually just a junior suite. Nice way to treat a so-called “Platinum Elite” guest!
When I tried calling the hotel operator from the room phone or from the outside, the phone would just ring and ring — sometimes for what seemed like 50-75 rings or more — which is totally unacceptable especially in the event of an emergency.
The property itself is old and dilapidated. The slow/beat-up elevators are the best example of the urgent need for a renovation.
The quality of the SPG Lounge on the 10th floor has declined in recent years and offers only the most basic snacks and very limited breakfast offerings.
Don’t waste your time or money at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor. Instead try the brand new Residence Inn in Weehawken if you’re visiting the area.
This is my second time staying with Sheraton. Both times I have had MAJOR communications errors. Not being informed of Labor disruptions, Charges prior to check in, not being informed of rooms not being ready by check in time, Appliances being broken and maintenance issues. This hotel was a little worn on the exterior, but the interior is done up nicely. We were charged a deposit equal to one night, one week before our check in because the hotel was sold out the night of our check in. We were not informed, and nowhere does it state on the confirmation or website about being charged a deposit in the event of sold out nights. We came to check in 15 minutes prior to the 3:00pm check in time to be informed our room type was not ready. I made a reservation 4 months prior for a king room with a view of the Manhattan skyline. Not many rooms were available our night of check in, But it did seem rooms that were traditional were readily available, as we waited over an hour in the hotel lobby and watched as room after room were being checked in. After the hour, and being a little frustrated I decided to speak up to which, again our room wasn't ready. I decided to leave the hotel in search of a phone charger and shortly after 4pm, my husband waiting in the lobby was given a room. When he came into the room everything looked sound, except the fact that there were YELLOW urine stains ALL over the toilet seat and around the toilet you could see pee stains dried on the floor. The ice machine on our floor was broken the whole time we were there with no informing. When we called the front desk for our non working heater and ice machine. The receptionist spoke to me in a tone as if I was ignorant and did not know how to use a thermostat. and also informed me, "Ma'am there are ice machines on every floor". Engineering came to reset our heater which in fact WAS NOT WORKING- and NOT user error. All in all customer service was a bit lacking, room was good, view was beautiful. Very convenient location, and great price considering what you get for the same price in Midtown Manhattan. But another thing to keep in mind. Paying for the ferry round trip, or the tolls, or traveling into town adds up... So you might weigh your options and stay centrally for about $50-$100 more.
This hotel is located in Weehawken, NJ. Last exit before Lincoln tunnel. Easy to find. Gas/diesel station across the road. Lots of restaurants. Great Chinese delivered.Accommadates oversized vehicles for a fee. Plenty of parking. Right next to ferry to NYC. Goes to 39th St. In city. $21 for round trip. Kicker is, in NYC, there’s free shuttles. That’s worth it right there.
Staff are super. Outside security. Stunning view of NYC.
I’d definitely stay again.
Overall this hotel has some really good points. The rooms are really comfortable with great beds and fantastic views. Bathrooms are really clean and modern.
After staying at this hotel a few times it’s clear there is a non existent maintenance budget. In every room I ve stayed the sink in the bathroom never drains and tv remote rarely works. My biggest issue with maintenance here is the gym. I like to workout when I travel but it is nearly impossible here. Even after reporting the issue to maintenance on each occasion nothing gets fixed. On my most recent stay the cable machine is now completely broken and unusable. Not even a sign on it indicating it’s status. Please just sort out the gym it let’s your hotel down and is totally unacceptable.
We stayed in Weehawken so we could avoid the bridges, tolls and traffic in New York City. The Sheraton is a great hotel, right on the harbor. We purchased ferry tickets right at the hotel and took the ferry into the city. Very easy in and out of the city. Once we were in the city and saw all the crazy traffic we knew we had made the right decision.
