The Lowdown

Nestled among olive groves in Vounaria, Greece, the five-star Camvillia Resort is an oasis that lies on the stunning Messinian Gulf, with views of the Taygetos mountain range. Only 400 metres from the crystal blue waters of Peroulia Beach, this boutique gem is the ultimate destination for switching off beneath the sun and transforming yourself into a Greek god or goddess by the pool, at the spa, and beyond. It’s no wonder Camvillia snagged a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Modern and relaxed, this is a comfortable base to soak up Greece’s charming old-world character. Rooms are bright and airy, with plenty of thoughtful flourishes and a calming Grecian decor. Take a dip in the beautiful infinity swimming pool, relax on a sun lounger with a book, enjoy a rejuvenating massage at the spa, and simply drink in the natural wonder all around you.
If you choose to add on car hire, launch off to the nearby picturesque seaside village of Koroni for the day, and be sure to order some fresh fish at one of the waterside tavernas.

Just back from a 5day break at Camvillia, and I have to say it was wonderful! Lovely staff, really wanted to make sure we were having a nice time. It was not too busy when we were there, it was the beginning of the new season. The resort was immaculately clean, even the towels smelled lovely and fresh. the room we were given had a private pool (I think shared between 3 rooms) the views were fantastic. We had booked half board, the food was, on the whole very good, although on the first night I did send my lamb back as it was not hot enough. When the meal was returned, it was a completely different meal from what I ordered, but it was late, and I was tired, so I let it go. The wine list was also very good, serving Greek, local wines, so we tried a different one each evening, reasonably priced between 20e / 30e, the only reason I have not scored 5* is because a few nights we were sat at the table, no menu given, I had to ask for it. There were a Lot of waiting staff, so I found this a bit frustrating. One of the nights we were given a complimentary bottle of wine as we were waiting a while. I would say they need to address this before the season gets into full swing.
There is a shuttle to the beach every half hour and The beach is lovely. There is a representative from the hotel at the beach who was happy to take drink orders for us (they do not have a beach bar, but there is a good restaurant down the beach, which is where he went on our behalf)
The only other thing I commented on was the dim lighting in the bathroom. It would be great if they could put an extra light over the mirror, purely for the fact it was hard to see where my makeup was going!
The bar girls were so lovely and friendly, a real asset to the hotel
I look forward to returning to Camvillia in the future. Amazing place.

A stunning place with wonderful people

We enjoyed the most fantastic 10 day holiday at Camvillia Resort and were lucky to have beautiful sunshine every day so we could enjoy their beautiful infinity pool with it's breath taking view of the sea and mountains.

The architecture of the resort compliments the magnificent surroundings with white muslin drapes everywhere gently blowing in the breeze with a colour palette of soft greys and whites.

I have to compliment the owner not only on the beauty of the place but also on his choice of excellent staff. We were lucky enough to have the lovely Stella with her amazing smile and generous nature looking after us during the holiday. Lucky us! What a superstar :)

A special mention for Sunday who served us drinks in the evening and was simply lovely, also Olga and Andrianos who waited on our table. Dimitrios the Manager of the resort also went out of his way to be available to you and was incredibly friendly with a listening ear. Jerry who drove us down to the sandy beach and back was also so friendly too, as was Zach on the beach who looked after us so well. Nothing was ever too much trouble!

The food was excellent and we had pretty much worked our way through the menu by the time we left, so it could be good to have more daily specials for a little more choice.
The fresh coffee at breakfast was delicious. The restaurant made the most of the sea views and we so enjoyed dressing up for dinner every night. It was a real treat!

We didn't hire a car but chose to enjoy our beautiful surroundings and enjoy the sunshine, sea and pool and just to enjoy the space which we really did.

Although we are have both visited Greece and her islands many, many times, this was the first time we have visited a boutique hotel here, which is what Camvillia is.

We had the most amazing time here and we will definitely be back someday!

We love you Camvillia!!

With much love...Jan XXX

Gorgeous hotel with wonderful staff

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week at Camvillia and loved every minute.

While the hotel and its breathtaking views are wonderful, we felt that the biggest highlight for us was the friendliness of the staff who looked after us. Attentive, kind and chatty, always there to help - thank you, you made our week.

The hotel itself is clean and impressive. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with a ridiculously beautiful view of distant mountains to take in over a welcome drink. The general aesthetic of the pool and dining/chill out area is modern and chic. We enjoyed many (slightly expensive, though delicious) cocktails overlooking the bay and mountains in the early evening. Again, we were well looked-after and staff were very attentive and friendly.

For me personally, there was only one disappointment and that was the breakfast. I flippin' love a hotel buffet breakfast - any excuse to consume as many pastries as humanly possible on my holiday. I was saddened to find that the choice of food was pretty limited, and doesn't vary at all from day to day. There were no croissants, but instead a variety of strange cakes. The cooked breakfast included the same tomato mixed scrambled egg, ham-bacon and mushrooms every day. I mean, it was tasty, but some more choice and variety would have been appreciated.

And one other point on breakfast, I hated having to chase someone down every morning to ask for a pot of tea. At no point during our stay was I asked if I'd like a hot drink at breakfast and there was nowhere to help yourself to tea/hot water. I'm sure it's a rather British complaint, but not an uncommon preference to actually want tea WITH breakfast rather than after/ in the middle of it.

Aside from breakfast, the food at dinner was delicious, and while the same menu is brought to you every evening (we were staying half-board), we always found something new to try and loved our meals. The sauteed mushroom starter was spectacular.

On days when the pool sun bathing area seems a bit full or you fancy a change, you can get a lift down to the beach. Jerry the hotel driver is absolutely lovely and will take people down every half an hour. The beach is stunning and Camvillia have their own little section with deck chairs, parasols and a chap standing by if you need anything. The sea is perfectly clear and clean - a pleasure to swim in.

All in all, thank you, Camvillia. We had a wonderful time.

Lovely hotel with amazing views

We have just returned from a fantastic stay. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and professional and they helped make our stay memorable. The hotel is beautifully designed and maintained and in a stunning location with amazing views. The pool, spa and beach are all lovely. The food in the restaurant is delicious and the only criticism we have of the hotel is the menu which doesn't change apart from a daily special, unfortunately as vegetarians we struggled to find something different to eat each evening.

We would highly recommend the Camvillia and would like to return

5 star room, 5 star staff, 3 star food at 5 star prices

Just returned from 4 nights at Camvillia a luxury hotel on the Messinian coast. We stayed in a private pool room (so we didn't use the shared pool) which if you can afford it I highly recommended as they are huge, private, good sized pool, and have with amazing views. We opened the double glass doors every morning to watch the sun rise up over the mountains which was a beautiful way to start the day. There's a shuttle bus down to the narrow but pleasant beach every 30mins and free beach towels, sun lounges/umbrellas and staff on hand to fetch drinks/food (bring cash). The hotel is immaculately presented and the breakfast/restaurant takes advantage of the superb views across the bay and over the mountains. The staff are very attentive, friendly and provided us with excellent service throughout our stay and a warm welcome with cocktail, not sure what the other reviews were on about but we had smiles everywhere we went you couldn't fault the service from any of the staff we encountered. The spa is a bonus as was the 20min massage spa voucher possibly the best back and shoulder massage I've ever had. The only thing which lets this place down is the limited menu and the disappointing and overpriced food from the pool side menu in particular, pizza's were good but everything else was well.... disappointing. We did have a lovely meal in the restaurant for our anniversary meal which was romantic, and good food/service and greek wine but then it should be for 100 euros including 1 bottle of wine (we didn't book DBB as wanted to explore the area). My advice, try the hotel restaurant but also get yourself out to Korini (15mins away by car) or even closer the Peroulia Beach restaurant for more authentic greek fare (and 30-35 euros for a decent meal with drinks). We would recommend this hotel as the location, views, facilities and staff are excellent just a shame it would be better if they upped their game on the food menus and didn't charge 12 euros for gin with lemon fanta masquerading as an exclusive cocktail still worth a visit though
