Great place to tour the Rioja vineyards from.
Nice large rooms and a couple of great bars. The art in the hotel very modern.
Breakfast good and we had two dinners both very good.
The roof top views good. Staff very helpful.
Will try and come again.

Art and comfort

great place and outstanding cuisine. The tasting menu and the selection of excellent wines. The hotel's decor is a combination of art and comfort.
The on-site wine shop offers a wide selection. The downside is the lack of a swimming pool, it would be very useful.

Rooftop terrace!

The modern architecture of this building is contrasted against the quaint wine village country village of Villanuena de Alava. Second to the Marquis de Riscal (a Gehry designed hotel), this is probably the most interesting looking hotel in the region.

Nothing to do in the village (every second building is a bodegas) so having a car is a must (unless you hire a driver or do a tour). It’s a good base from which to explore the bodegas in the region. Logroño is about 30 minutes away and LaGuardia about 15 minutes. Free parking on site.

Rooms are modern, concrete floors and walls. King size bed very comfortable. Lighting needs some work...it was too dark in the room and the window did not look onto anything interesting. Nice little rooftop terrace where we spent a lot of time. Cushions for the chairs would have been great though. Bathroom was big, modern and had great toiletries and a hairdryer. Safe and mini fridge in the room.

Breakfast was good, eggs to order, good coffee/ juice, croissants, jamon and cheese, fruit, yogurt etc. Their bread selection needs to be better.

Staff were very friendly and very helpful in makes reservations at the bodegas.

Would stay again!

Exciting designs in the middle of vineyards
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

+ Exciting interior and exterior (perfect contrast to the surrounding village)
+ Modern and spacious rooms
+ Diverse breakfast buffet
+ Very good restaurant
+ Suitable for business events

- Views from some of the rooms not very exciting (e.g. only a rock)

Still very special

Our second visit and we are glad to see it is going strong. It is ideally located to explore the Rioja region, 90 minutes drive from Bilbao airport on a modern highway, and right in the middle and close to everything. Rooms are modern and enormous, as one would expect from this very modern yet warm and not sterile hotel. It has an extremely good restaurant plus two bars where one can eat snacks but always get a sensational selection of wines. All the Rioja wines seem to be served in the Vinoteca managed but the charming Xavi. Service is impeccable.
