- Short speedboat transfer from the Malé airport
- Genuinely friendly, unfawning service from staff you actually enjoy hanging out with
- Serious spa treatments from highly trained professionals

- Small but harmless baby blacktip sharks in the lagoon may unnerve some guests

How to Get There
I picked this island because it is famous for its rich marine life. However, as this is a very old hotel(23 years), so you can imagine the design idea, the facilities, the rooms would not updated/compared with those new luxurious Maldivian hotels.
When we arrived at the island, the hotel staff greeted us warmly and showed us around this tiny island. This island is so tiny that you could walk across it within 3 mins, so there is no bicycle/buggy. Also there is only one restaurant which provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar food. There is only one type of villa, which is not big in Maldive style. The villa has one swimming pool, one jacuzzi, beach pavilion, beach chairs, and one round house, which only has one big bed and one day bed. So it is not ideal for family with more than one kid.
Frankly speaking, I did not expect the facilities were that out of date even I had such expectations before I came. However, once we got into water, I knew we had come to the right place to see marine life. In other places, you may feel lucky to see one shark in one snorkeling trip. Here shark is a regular, you could see 10 of them within one minute. We saw turtles, a few of them, everyday. You could even swim with them, they are not running away. Other types of fishes, you can see them in groups. I have seen many fishes that I have not see in other Maldivian hotels. The drop-off is very close(50 meters for Banyan tree and 20 meters for Ansgana) to the beach, so it is very safe for kids to snorkel. During our 4 day stay, each of us have done at least two snorkeling trip everyday. We will go to sister island which is 2 mins boat ride away in the morning for one/two snorkel there and come back to banyan tree for another one later in the afternoon. In addition to this great snorkeling condition, banyan tree also has a daily feeding of stingrays at 4:45pm. Everyday at that time, there will be 5-8 stingrays swim to the beach beside the jetty and waiting to be fed. Marine biologist, Sam, will give us a introduction of stingray and feed them. The baby sharks also swim over here to fight for the food. So the feeding scene is really something you could not experience in any other places in the world. We did not miss one day. In addition, we also went the dolphins cruise which we have see the most dolphins in all the dolphin watching cruise in the Maldives.
Although the foods are limited due to the small size of customers and kitchen staff, they will go out of their way to meet your extra requirement. The staff at the front desk are extremely nice and helpful. They went out of their way to help me. I could not have thanked them enough. We felt that we had a wonderful tranquil vacation on this tiny island.
If you are really into fish and like the nature style of facilities, not looking for luxury, this is the resort you should experience once in your life.
I never thought, I will be posting a 2 star review for a resort in Maldives, that too for a luxury brand like Banyan Tree; but this resort is quite a let down, both from it's own brand standards as well as from Maldivian hospitality standards.
The resort gives you no sense of being spoilt or pampered, there is no factor to make the guests feel special. Only the paradise location more than compensated for the hotels lack of hospitality and amenities.
It all started with the welcome, which was extremely drab and unfriendly. Service throughout our stay was lackluster, it seemed like the staff was unhappy to work here.
The breakfast was boring and lacked in quality. Service at the breakfast was non-existent. Even the coffee beans used tasted cheap.
The room felt dated and aged, even the water pressure from the shower was poor.
Gym was poorly equipped for a workout. The complimentary morning and evening yoga sessions were cancelled. Absolutely no facilities for the kids. Wifi was weak and slow as well.
The only things which left a positive impression on us apart from the beautiful waters of Maldives were the chefs at the resort- they all were extremely humble and accomodating with our special requests, went out of their way to cater us and make us feel special and wanted. Other than that Saeed at the main restaurant was smiling and efficient and our Housekeeping guy, Khaleel was friendly. Special mention for the Experience Manager Nouhaila who was the only person working here who understood hospitality and delighting the guests.
Other than that, the hot tub jacuzzi with temperature control was a nice touch in the room and special thanks to the reservation and front office team for changing our room from the worst location in the resort to the best part of the island.
We could not even complain about the above issues to the resort manager, since we did not see him around, that too for such a small and boutique island resort.
Overall, to sum up, I would say we had a good holiday in the beautiful waters of Maldives with excellent weather for most part of our stay but the unfriendly service, poor quality of the resort and lack of amenities dampened our vacation.
Maldives had always been my dream to be there some day. I had finally make a trip recently on 3.10.2019 - 6.10.2019.
it was indeed very nice and the experience was beyond my satisfaction.
The people (all of them from Reception / Restaurant / Reservation /Housekeeping / Spa / Speed boat staff, sorry if I had miss out some department) everyone working in Banyan Tree Maldives (Vabbinfaru) was extremely nice and had make my trip and stay like home and very enjoyable and comfortable.
I would like to specially make my deepest thanks to Adam from the Front Desk whom had received us with extremely warm, friendly, helpful and goes beyond his way to help us in every way and everything to make our trip a very memorable one. Good Job and well done, Adam.
The sea around Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and the entire surroundings was very relax and beautiful.
Feeding of String Ray was another nice sight which we will never have a chance to be so close to them and it was an eye opener as well.
My choice was always at Banyan Tree for any destination if I have a choice.
It was a very nice experience to be there and I strongly recommend the viewer to choose Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru if you wish to have a holiday there someday.
Thank you to each and everyone at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru.
I hope to return there someday.
