Not for the over 50s
Reviewed 3 hours ago

The quirky 50s decor may be novel for young people. If you are over 50 it will probably just remind you of nana’s house and all the tacky country motels and caravan parks your parents dragged you to as a child.

I don’t want a 50s bathroom! Tiny. Useless basin/vanity area and the worst tiling in the shower I have seen in any hotel claiming to be 5 star.

One of the most annoying things about the hotel was breakfast. We bought a package that included breakfast for 2 for three days (6x$38 = $228) and for two days I was on my own. My husband joined me on the last night.

Breakfast day one I went down at 9:50. Every table was filthy (literally every table). I just wanted a pastry and a cup of coffee. Got a staff member to clear and wipe a table. I asked for a cup of coffee and was told ‘fresh coffee is extra’. I was stunned. I didn’t even bother to go down the following day.

Their cafe/restaurant is in the same area and it has all the charm of Coles cafeteria.

Noise insulation is poor in the rooms. You can hear traffic and you can hear people in the corridors.

Bed was comfy. WiFi was good. The Japanese restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Stay somewhere else but do visit Yamagen. Sensational.

If you are going to give me 50s facilities charge me 50s prices. No I don’t recommend this hotel.

Put some more clothing on your female staff!
Reviewed 2 days ago

I've stayed at the QT many times over past years for the same conference each year. The rooms are comfortable and i love having nespresso available. But i just cannot get past the uniforms of female staff and picks of women in "pin-up" poses in the lifts etc. I can't help feeling that whoever does design for this hotel is stuck in the 1950's. Would NOT choose to stay here for that reason.

Logies stay a great experience
Reviewed 3 days ago

I was fortunate enough to stay at the QT for business in 2018, with SBS for the Logies event. I have worked with SBS for 12 years now on this event, and we have used many hotels in Melbourne and so this was our first experience with a Gold Coast stay. I have to say that from a professional/business perspective, the Hotel delivered in every way. From the booking arrangements and special requests we had months in advance, to the coordination, to the check-in, staff assistance, friendliness, room service and all the finer details of our stay; the Hotel were accommodating and delivered on all promises. We are staying with them again this year (2019) as they were a joy to deal with.

Not a 5 star experience
Reviewed 5 days ago

My partner and I stayed at QT Gold Coast for 4 days 3 nights in February as part of the Luxury Escape deal. We were both very disappointed! We were here many years ago when the hotel was brand new and did enjoy our stay, so we thought we would come back again when this deal shows up. This hotel is now very very dated, things are falling apart - see photos below. The so-called ocean view is blocked by 3 other building in front of you, and even though we are up in the mid-teens level of the building, you can still hear the traffic noise and the light rail noise. Its pool was tiny, almost shamefully tiny for a supposely 5 star hotel. It has 3 restaurants and a bar but the atmosphere is really cold as there are barely any customers there most nights, even though they try to put on loud music on Saturday nights, the bar was dead! You can $50 voucher to use on food there but we end up just eating out. You also get four $20 voucher to use in their spa, except their spa price is pretty expensive, we didnt want to get a $200 massage just to use the $20 voucher. You also get daily buffet breakfast, but the buffet is nowhere as exciting as its website makes it to be. Just your standard hot food stuff with eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom, some yogurt and juices and cereals. there is salad, and some disgusting Asian congee. No cafe standard coffees, just this filtered crappy coffee, very unenjoyable. They make it sounds like it's a "marketplace" like experience, I honestly don't think you can just put up some drawings and wallpapers related to the markets and call that an experience.

The complementary Wifi and the parking are probably the only good thing about this package. The guest room is weirdly designed, as there is this empty space large enough for some decent furniture between the bed and the balcony, they don't utilise this space except to give you a one person chair, then they give you a tiny tiny bathroom.

We will never come back here again unless the hotel is properly renovated. Don't think QT is 5 star everywhere, as his one certainly isn't!!!

Well worth a visit
Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a fantastic weekend away at the QT.
Room was clean and well fitted, bed was extremely comfortable.
Staff were fantastic. special mention to Cregan in the pool bar.

Only downside to the room was the small shower over bath. personal preference, but i never use a bath in a hotel, so prefer a large shower only
