How to Get There
On a recent visit to Tanzania, Africa, I had an exquisite opportunity to stay at this property for a 3-day excursion to Zanzibar with friends. OMG, this place is unbelievably perfect! In addition to its location in beautiful Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is also right on the Indian Ocean. It is a beautiful, luxurious hotel in a gorgeous setting! I had a spacious, very well appointed ocean view room with luxury amenities and bathroom, and well crafted furnishings. The staff was intentionally friendly and helpful, and the onsite restaurant and bar were outstanding. There was also a generous amount of comfortable, outside seating on the ocean side of the property, where I enjoyed refreshing cocktails and watched the sun set. I was exceedingly pleased with everything about this hotel and my stay. I overwhelmingly recommend it for your visit to Zanzibar.
My friends and I arrived at the Park Hyatt after a 2.5 hour early morning flight from Seronera airport in Serengeti National Park. We had just finished about a week of stalking the wildlife of Tanzania with cameras. We were more than a little dusty. The Indian Ocean and the staff immediately cooled and comforted us. The hotel was home-base during a 3-day exploration of Zanzibar. Looking for an exotic, but comforting getaway, this is the place.
The Park Hyatt Zanzibar is beyond beautiful situated in the right in middle of Stone Town. The moment you walk in - you’re hit with award winning architectural beauty, glamour and style. The staff smile as you walk in. The water fountain combined with fresh flowers and a subtle passion fruit and mint juice instantly raised the bar as a top hotel on the beach. It is an easy walk from the Hyatt to all the major Stone Town attractions, restaurants, and shops. The walk to Forodhani park is only 25 minutes and surely is to give you something to talk about.
The staff at the Hyatt were pleasantly friendly and warm, and provided excellent service. Our rooms were well situated - Room 3319 with ocean view, Room 3109 with ocean view and balcony and Room 3114 with city view (not really - wasn’t a great view at all). However, each room was beautiful with a separate bathtub, and all the amenities you would expect. The coconut and lime toiletries smelled amazing, the spa like shower will definitely keep you in and the king bed will make you want to sleep longer than this should.
Make sure you walk across the street to boutique stores and restaurants. All I’ll say is the hotel is stunningly beautiful, in every corner you see.
Lastly, a very nice touch was to see that they used reusable glass bottles for water. They’ve made efforts to be environmentally friendly by using glass versus plastic. I’ll be back...
