Family Surf Vacation with a Touch of Class!!
Reviewed 23 hours ago

For my 40th Birthday, I wanted to book a Family Surf Vacation. I did a bunch of research and it brought my to the Ocean 2 Resort. The reason we chose the Ocean 2 Resort was it's proximity to Barry's Surf School and that it was a 4 Star Hotel. Not to mention, Dover Beach has a very fun Wave for all levels of surfers.

When we arrived to Ocean 2 Resort we were greeted by the most friendly staff ever. Smiles galore and just so accommodating. We booked an Ocean View Suite that had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. When we were guided into the room my families eyes lit up!!! Even after the trip, my family has said " This is the best hotel room we have ever stayed in". As a father who wanted to book the perfect Family Surf Trip, I was stoked. Prior to the trip I rented a few surf boards from Barry's next door. I do not like travelling with a Surf board. Airlines like to ding them up!!! Barry's has great boards!! Either way, we went down to the pool and spoke to the staff. They had our surf boards waiting for us with a nice fresh bar of wax. My daughter and I looked at the ocean and it was firing!!! Swell was pumping and we paddled out. We must have caught 20 waves each. It was amazing. Beautiful Sea Turtles, nice reef break and a safe wave. Barbados on the East is rough but on the South End, you get some really nice lefts. Barrys does Surf Schools at this beach around 9:30 and 1:30 every day. No worries. Their staff is cool and if you're not taking a lesson, they won't hog the Ocean. The next morning when I went surfing and they were doing a surf school. I mentioned that I would stay out of the way, and the Barry's staff (Matt, who is one of the best surfers I've seen, he took me and my oldest daughter Brandon's one day) responded with "The Ocean is big enough, enjoy man". Sometimes Surfers can be fickle, especially about waves and priority. Just really friendly people. So bottom line. AMAZING SURF SPOT!!!! Fun Lefts.

Back to the AMAZING hotel . First night we were there, they had a BBQ on the beach. It was awesome!!! Food is so good. I did the Beef and Ribs while the rest of my family ordered some the best tasting Fish and Chicken. Another night we as a family set up a private dinner on the beach. It was beautiful. They set up an awesome tent with a walk way to the dinner. We were having amazing food and drinks while the kids could run around the beach and have fun. The staff was absolutely amazing. Running out of room. BOOK IT NOW!!! AMAZING!

We booked the Oceans 2 because our daughter recommended it. We were not disappointed, we had a fantastic stay and will almost certainly be returning at a later date. The hotel is spotless and the staff really are amongst some of the most friendliest I have come across.

Exceeded expectations
Reviewed 3 days ago

This is one of those rare places where you feel they do their very best to give you a satisfying and enjoyable experience. Room looked over the car park at the back but the balcony had a pleasant view of the hills inland. Bed was comfy, air con efficient and wi-fi perfectly stable. Breakfasts were plentiful, tasty, and varied. The hotel is right on the beach - not all are. There were just about enough sunbeds; some people "bagged" them early and then seemed to disappear for the day!
The hotel is at the end of the Gap and there are loads of good restaurants within a 15 minute walk. The area felt safe at night.

All in all, both the hotel and Barbados itself exceeded my expectations. I had never been to the Caribbean before. I will be back.

Highlight of our Trip

My husband and I just returned from a weeks stay at Ocean Two and have nothing but rave reviews. We stayed in a 1 bedroom ocean front suite and while the views were absolutely incredible, the attentive and friendly staff are really what make this place amazing, it really is hard to put it in to words when it was just a great experience. From the moment we first walked through the doors we were greeted with a warm welcome and a complimentary beverage while waiting for our room. If you need a taxi simply ask the front desk staff, or if you are wondering what time to show up for a tour of the Banks Brewery just ask the concierge and they will call to check for you. While spending the days by the pool or beach you are very well taken care of, from towels to food and drink, the pool and beach attendants were perhaps the most helpful, fun and friendly staff we have encountered in any of our travels. Everyone always seemed genuinely happy to help you and like they enjoyed what they do. There are always enough chairs and umbrellas on the beach and near the pool, and if there aren't the staff will quickly bring a set out for you. The beds are comfy, breakfast tasty, A/C cool and WiFi adequate for a tropical location. The location of the hotel is right at the tail end of St. Lawrence Gap, making it an easy 10 minute walk to many amazing restaurants. We made this walk nearly every night and never once felt unsafe or harassed. Primo, Castaways, The Dive & Cafe Sol all had delicious food and drink, it was hard not to eat at the same place twice! Stop at "My Friends Place" on your way back from dinner for happy hour and live music! I cannot recommend Ocean Two enough, we try not to return to the same place twice and keep our travels new but found ourselves constantly talking about how we would return here.

The best holiday ever!

It's hard to know where to begin in praising Ocean Two. The friendly nature of the staff and their overall attitude was an absolute joy to experience - nothing is too much trouble for anyone. Our room was on the top floor and enjoyed wonderful views of the ocean and sunset each night. The options at breakfast are great (although we never dined their at lunch or dinner). Three happy hours everyday are a bonus as are the ice lollies and cold towels which are handed out around the pool and beach area. The overall location and close proximity to the many bars and restaurants in St Lawrence Gap was great - Harlequin restaurant was a particular favourite for us. Overall, this was our best family holiday ever!
