Hotel Cala Della Torre
What We Love
- A peaceful and relaxing Sardinia stay near a lovely white-sand beach, with full boardBeing near one of the area's best white-sand beaches – La Caletta
- Staying full board means more time for the serious business of relaxation
- Hiring a boat from La Caletta harbour to explore this beautiful part of the Sardinian coastline
Hotel Cala Della Torre sits near a dazzling white stretch of sandy beach in a serene corner of the Sardinian coast, where blue sky meets even bluer sea – so sparkling and intense in colour you’ll want to plunge straight in and become part of its jewel-like wonder. Set among verdant gardens, the hotel itself is a cool contemporary affair, whose low-key cream-painted buildings are grouped around an inviting kidney-shaped swimming pool and solarium, with plenty of sun loungers for soaking up the plentiful Sardinian sunshine.
Step into the airy pillared lobby and settle down with a welcome drink on comfy sofas, before checking out your room – a calm retreat with a spacious balcony or terrace. Happy days can be spent down on the hotel’s private section of La Caletta beach, a short walk away. You could also hire a boat, go kitesurfing or take the plunge at a local dive school – the water in these parts is crystal clear and teeming with sea life. However you pass your time you’ll be well catered for on the cuisine front, with a varied menu of Italian delicacies on offer at the buffet restaurant. Evening entertainment at the in-house open-air amphitheatre is fun and geared for all ages. Hotel Cala Della Torre is ranked number one in the area on TripAdvisor.
Good to know
A compulsory card service charge is to be paid directly at the hotel at a cost of €5 per person, per day for 3-12 year olds and €7 per person, per day for those of 12 years and over. This affords guests access to the pools, the daytime and evening animation program, use of beach shuttle service, a beach service (umbrella and two sun beds per room, subject to availability) and access to the mini basketball/mini volleyball court on the beach.
How to Get There
We have promised ourselves a visit to Sardinia for some time and decided to book the hotel throughVoyage Prive. We had a 10 day break on a 'soft' all inclusive package. The package includes breakfast, lunch and dinners with beer or wine included at lunch and dinner.
The rooms are comfortable and the staff are excellent, very friendly and efficient.
The food is all buffet style and there was always something on offer that you could enjoy. The hotel guests are mostly italian families and couples. They drive to Genoa and then get the ferry over to Sardinia.
We travelled on 12th September and found that the resort was ending down to closing off the season on the 22nd September.
La Caletta at this time of year is quiet. The beaches are empty for the most part and the locals seem to be enjoying the lack of crowds that the summer brings. We found ourselves to be made very welcome wherever we went in the town.
There was no mention of Brexit, thank god!
The hotel offers a little train to take guests to their beach are which has free sunbends, lots of them. We chose to use the pool are and often found that we had fewer than 10 other guests for company.
The hotel is marked as a four star but in truth three stars would be a better rating, not because of any criticism of the place just that the wifi is only in the lobby and sometimes available in the pool area. A second table service restaurant would have been welcome and more drawer storage in the room would also help.
We booked our transfers with Voyage Prive and had a young man driving a huge mercedes to collect us and then a large VW people carrier to take us back to the airport.
The only problem then occurred with our return flight with Vueling Airlines changing at Barcelona, please read my review of the airline - NEVER, NEVER fly with Veuling Airlines.
this hotel is very friendly, clean, great staff even when busy, food varied and excellent but be sure to get to the restaurant early in the session as the servery heaters could do with a boost, food tends to cool off, but there is tons of super salad if you prefer ; tip:if you want quieter evenings attempt to get a room not facing swimming pools as the evening entertainment can get a bit boisterous! but very happy stuff!!
take a boat trip on the Galvana [think that is the spelling!!
you will visit an impressive grotto and two simply stunning beaches -- the cleanest you will ever find -- one of which is teeming with sardines who will swim around you and tickle your toes ! an uplifting experience believe me this a designated "no fishing area" so they don`t get caught and eaten!!
Sardinia and the hotel were a very pleasant surprise.
Stayed at the hotel in Aug 2019, was certainly not a 4 star more like a 3 star. Food was nice but setup was chaotic like a mad free for all especially at breakfast when the croissants were replenished. Beware of the word all inclusive as its not, its soft inclusive so you only get a very limited drinks selection & only tea & coffee at breakfast. Also if you want quiet ask for a room the opposite side to the pool as the entertainment is very loud.
