Hotel Cala Della Torre
What We Love
- A peaceful and relaxing Sardinia stay near a lovely white-sand beach, with full boardBeing near one of the area's best white-sand beaches – La Caletta
- Staying full board means more time for the serious business of relaxation
- Hiring a boat from La Caletta harbour to explore this beautiful part of the Sardinian coastline
Hotel Cala Della Torre sits near a dazzling white stretch of sandy beach in a serene corner of the Sardinian coast, where blue sky meets even bluer sea – so sparkling and intense in colour you’ll want to plunge straight in and become part of its jewel-like wonder. Set among verdant gardens, the hotel itself is a cool contemporary affair, whose low-key cream-painted buildings are grouped around an inviting kidney-shaped swimming pool and solarium, with plenty of sun loungers for soaking up the plentiful Sardinian sunshine.
Step into the airy pillared lobby and settle down with a welcome drink on comfy sofas, before checking out your room – a calm retreat with a spacious balcony or terrace. Happy days can be spent down on the hotel’s private section of La Caletta beach, a short walk away. You could also hire a boat, go kitesurfing or take the plunge at a local dive school – the water in these parts is crystal clear and teeming with sea life. However you pass your time you’ll be well catered for on the cuisine front, with a varied menu of Italian delicacies on offer at the buffet restaurant. Evening entertainment at the in-house open-air amphitheatre is fun and geared for all ages. Hotel Cala Della Torre is ranked number one in the area on TripAdvisor.
Good to know
A compulsory card service charge is to be paid directly at the hotel at a cost of €5 per person, per day for 3-12 year olds and €7 per person, per day for those of 12 years and over. This affords guests access to the pools, the daytime and evening animation program, use of beach shuttle service, a beach service (umbrella and two sun beds per room, subject to availability) and access to the mini basketball/mini volleyball court on the beach.
How to Get There
An all inclusive hotel with lots of on site facilities,we stayed here by chance
It was very reasonably priced, not the type of hotel we normally would stay at.But no complaints. The staff were helpful and the food was plentiful if basic. As we left early morning a packed lunch was provided and was very good.A shuttle service runs to the beach and it is a close walk into the town.
Probably very good for families.
Stayed here for a week and enjoyed it. Food was good and service very friendly. Meals were very Italian and had a good choice. Restaurant very busy at peak times
Light all inclusive includes local beer, which was fine but the wine wasn’t to our taste. We had a simple classic room on the ground floor. Would recommend taking mosquito repellent as we got a few bites.
Very good value.
This hotel is very friendly and within easy walking distance of beaches, shops and bars.
Our room and balcony overlooking the pool was very spacious and well maintained. Housekeeping staff are very helpful.
The self service food in the restaurant was excellent with such a good variety of dishes to choose from. Can honestly say the best hotel self service food that we’ve eaten in our many visits to Italian resorts. Staff were very courteous and always friendly.
Unlimited supply of alcoholic , soft drinks, water and beverages in the fully inclusive package.
The chefs, maitre d’hotel and waiting on staff , bar staff deserve much praise for their wonderful service.
Lots of activities for adults and children run by a very dedicated animation team.
Only negatives :
1. if you have a room overlooking the pool be prepared to be disturbed throughout parts of the day and until late night by loud ‘booming’ music. For us we found this very unpleasant , couldn’t relax at times and didn’t get much sleep or enough time relaxing on the balcony as a consequence.
2. towels you need to leave a refundable deposit of 20 Euros per towel. You can change the towel once , then a charge is made thereafter to change the towel. There is no price list or instruction displayed and if you don’t speak good Italian misunderstandings about price and protocol can happen.
3. our rep didn’t have a group ‘welcome’ meeting for guests to explain details about the resort , so for trips etc , you’ll need to visit her or search around the hotel communal areas for displayed information.
4. departure service - check your allocated slot for any pick ups , our ‘pick up’ was given at a time too close to our departure flight time ( which had been changed ) and it’s approximately 45 mins drive to the airport. The problem was eventually sorted -though stressful.
Overall a lovely, clean and well maintained and friendly hotel but for the loud noise from the entertainment and a few communication difficulties which could have been avoided ( with displayed notices) the hotel would have been given 5 stars .
Having holidayed in 4* & 5*hotels in Europe for 15 years I can say this is not anything like 4*.The room booked was a classic. On the Eden hotels website it states classic rooms are on ground or 2nd floor with garden or pool views. with balcony or terrace with 2 sun loungers. Ours was on 1st floor with view of rear of buildings and car park, juliette balcony with just enough room for a clothes drier. When we complained we were told by booking manager we were wrong and when I quoted website facts again I was told I was wrong.
We then said we would pay for one night and wished to have our money back but were told the hotel did not do refunds. Rooms are very basic with one seat for 3 people, flat packed style furniture. The free toiletries amount to a soap dispenser on the wall. We asked for a counterpane to be changed as it was dirty and the room maid said there were no double ones available and single one supplied was never changed.
In the restaurant only house wine and beer available no wine list etc. Food was cold and same menu dishes every meal. Very noisy interior.
soft drinks and coffee served in plastic cups in bar and at pool. when I tried to buy a whiskey the young bar maid looked at Laphroiag, Glenfiddich and Oban bottles but were only empty and no other whiskey available.
The pool and sunloungers were good
The clue is in the title, but I missed it. This is a club hotel, so if being shackled with wristbands, listening to Euro pop until midnight, and a bit of a bunfight at mealtimes is your thing, then this is the place for you. Having said that, the hotel itself is pleasant with a lovely pool, quiet seating areas and it's in a quiet location, which suited us. Also the staff were very friendly. La Caletta is a very small resort in the quiet north east of Sardinia, which as a whole is comparatively underdeveloped as a tourist destination so retains much of its natural charm. This is what we were attracted to. We opted for the soft full board but ate out some of the time and would recommend Colorado, a lovely restaurant with direct access to and from the beach; quite magical and unspoilt in the evening.
