Hotel Cala Della Torre
What We Love
- A peaceful and relaxing Sardinia stay near a lovely white-sand beach, with full boardBeing near one of the area's best white-sand beaches – La Caletta
- Staying full board means more time for the serious business of relaxation
- Hiring a boat from La Caletta harbour to explore this beautiful part of the Sardinian coastline
Hotel Cala Della Torre sits near a dazzling white stretch of sandy beach in a serene corner of the Sardinian coast, where blue sky meets even bluer sea – so sparkling and intense in colour you’ll want to plunge straight in and become part of its jewel-like wonder. Set among verdant gardens, the hotel itself is a cool contemporary affair, whose low-key cream-painted buildings are grouped around an inviting kidney-shaped swimming pool and solarium, with plenty of sun loungers for soaking up the plentiful Sardinian sunshine.
Step into the airy pillared lobby and settle down with a welcome drink on comfy sofas, before checking out your room – a calm retreat with a spacious balcony or terrace. Happy days can be spent down on the hotel’s private section of La Caletta beach, a short walk away. You could also hire a boat, go kitesurfing or take the plunge at a local dive school – the water in these parts is crystal clear and teeming with sea life. However you pass your time you’ll be well catered for on the cuisine front, with a varied menu of Italian delicacies on offer at the buffet restaurant. Evening entertainment at the in-house open-air amphitheatre is fun and geared for all ages. Hotel Cala Della Torre is ranked number one in the area on TripAdvisor.
Good to know
A compulsory card service charge is to be paid directly at the hotel at a cost of €5 per person, per day for 3-12 year olds and €7 per person, per day for those of 12 years and over. This affords guests access to the pools, the daytime and evening animation program, use of beach shuttle service, a beach service (umbrella and two sun beds per room, subject to availability) and access to the mini basketball/mini volleyball court on the beach.
How to Get There
Good hotel, very good Italian food in hotel restaurant, this hotel is very lively and has a very full on animation team so excellent if thats what you are looking for. This was our first visit to Sardinia but have been to the mainland before.
Hotel: older but clean
Room: double bed has only Juliette balcony which is not even enough for the stand to dry your wet clothes.
Otherwise clean room with AC and TV (Italian, English, German, Spanish, Russian and French channels)
Bathroom has clean towels, available shower gel and shampoo all in one, shower, bidet and toilet.
Restaurant: crowded during meal times, closed rest of the day.
Bar: bar has sweet snacks and very sweet soft drinks available during the day but I did not like it at all. It also has industrial coffee machine with "yuck" coffee and milk in powder. This was the worst disappointment. U come to Italy and their espresso or cappuccino tastes worse than at your work. If u want to enjoy coffee during your holiday go to local cafe's. For 1,5Eur u will be delighted with the taste of Italian coffee.
Meals: Breakfast is OK for the first 2 days when u eat scrambled eggs and cheese and ham. Then u realize it's every day the same and u run out of options. It's a pity they do not know that sausage can be eaten also in the morning. Only exception are sweet breakfast lovers - you will be happy with the choice.
Lunch and dinner: OK, everyone will get satisfied. Fruits, veggies, pizza, pastas, meat, cheese, prosciutto, cakes.... U will find something u like. Do not worry. We even had a roasted pig one evening and that was a delight.
Pool: maintained but closed when guard is not on duty.
Evening entertainment: veeeeery loud and only Italian. After some time I started to like the "Ta ta ta" song they played every day when entertainment started. I think kids would like it.
Beach: 10 minutes away from hotel.u can also take hotel shuttle train that operates every 30min in September. Beach is nice, clean with grey sand, very shallow so great 4 kids and non swimmers. There is a bar on the beach and also along the way to the beach there are bars available.
Trips: available trip to coastal beaches along the way to beach Cala Goloritze. Ship Davide is very noisy all day long and the beaches get very crowded if only 2 full ships with 200 people arrive there at the same time. But it's really beautiful scenery and trip with turquoise clear waters to swim in.
Other things to do: walk to St. Lucia village or the opposite direction or rent a car. There is not really much to do here.
Overall: forget about 4* and all day accessible food and drinks and u won't be disappointed. U get here what u pay for. I paid 538eur all together 4 a week including flight and it's a "so so" value 4 money. I would not pay more. It's better to go to other destinations then.
It was OK but I will not come here again.
Enjoyed 7 nights at Cala della Torre. Successfully requested a quiet room which was just as well as the rooms facing the pool had to endure very loud entertainment until just before midnight.
Room was kept exceptionally clean but there was insufficient storage space.
Food was very good and restaurant staff worked hard to keep on top of the buffet and clear tables.
The “soft” all inclusive covered free wine and beer at meal times with soft drinks, water and coffee all day. However you could go full AI for 15 euros per person per day or use a pre loaded bar card.
The pool area, bars, reception and restaurant were very clean. There is a little train to take clients to a private area of excellent beach some 600 yards away.
The reception staff were very attentive and made you feel wanted.
Whilst I would recommend this hotel, it probably only has 4 star status because of the amenities.
We have just returned from a really great stay at Cala della Torre. The room was huge with a lovely balcony, fridge and 2 TVs (not that we watched them!). The staff were friendly and helpful and the 'animazione' team were brilliant! We joined in all the activities at the hotel and these were even extended to the beach where we played volleyball, boules etc. The food was wonderful with a wide variety served at every meal in typical Italian style. We loved the shows, even though we couldn't understand a word, and the dancing was really fun. We would highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel's rating is more 3 than 4 stars. The hotel is near the centre of the little town and the harbour. We had a large family room with a great balcony, unfortunately direct to the stage, so it was very difficult to sleep until midnight. The cleanliness was good both in the rooms and all over the hotel. The lack of cleaning of air condition system caused flu for the whole family. The quality and the variety of food was in average level, the breakfast was the same every day. The all inclusive meant really soft, because just 3 types of Pepsi Cola products and mineral water were free all day. The beach can be reached by a small train (dotto) operated by the Hotel. It is really funny for the children and useful for everybody, we loved it. The beach is beautiful with white sand and without crowd. There are own showers and changing cabins. The animation team helps rise the quality of the services, but their communication language is mainly italian. Next time we will go to Turkey or Greece where can get better services in lower price.
