Special thanks to Mrs Claudia Pronk, General Manager of Nira Alpina, and Giannis Krastanas, Front Office Manager, for the wonderful welcome and great attention.
Nira alpina is a modern hotel with alpine design. What I especially liked: Rooms in a the same categry are identical in size, style and look exactly as on pictures on the website. No bad surprise regarding the room. I booked the "Corvatsch room" which has a nice but rather small bathroom. The best thing about the room is the large terrasse with lovely mountain view. Breakfast was ok with a small extra menu (eggs, pancakes). What I disliked was the spa. Too small, strange layout and not cozy for relaxing. I also missed a cozy lounge to sit and read a book. That's why I gave 4 stars. The best thing about the hotel was the attentive and friendly staff. They deserve 5 stars. Good location close to the Corvatsch Bahn. Silvaplana is not a town with many hotels, restaurants, shops and Bars so the choice is vey limited if you do not have a car. I found the price for the room very reasonable, compared to other hotels in the Engadin. Nira Alpin is not a cozy boutique hotel or has a wow factor, but comes with a solid quality for a good price.
The moment we arrived at the hotel, we received a very warm welcome from the front desk. The manager Claudia came to greet us and had a warm chat with us, it made us feel home straight away. Our suite has fantastic view of Lake Silvaplana, Lake Champfèr and Lake St Moritz. The ski station is just right behind the hotel with internal access which is connected by a bridge between two building. Once you are familiar with it, it is quite easy to get there. We joined the half board so we don’t need to dine outside after skiing. The food in the main restaurant is just beautiful. My son has nuts allergy, Stephane and Claudia came to make sure all was sorted. They even ordered a special nuts free cake for my boy. The guests there are very friendly and helpful, one father knew this was our first time here, he taught us all the best scenic route to ski, luckily our ski instructor was able to bring us there. Overall we felt home and welcomed as it is very important while travelling in a foreign land. We were regretted not staying here longer but moving to St Moritz after five night to try different mountain and hotel. The experience in St Moritz Suvretta House (see my review) is not as good as here. Anyway we will definitely return to Nira Alpina.
Staff were incredible! From the General manager, restaurant waiters, front desk staff to the bell boy. All were super nice and friendly! Specially thanks to Ms. Claudia, Melissa, Gloria, Sara, Giannis, Radoslaw, Franzislca, George....
Good location, next to cable car station, great for ski. With ski rental next to hotel and with in-house ski storage.
Cozy room design, spacious and clean. With great terrace and mountain view.
Good spa, very nice to enjoy the Jacuzzi after ski.
Transfer service provided from St. Moritz.
P.s. I left my headphone in room when check-out, the hotel was able to retrieve it and Ms Claudia Pronk was super nice to send it back to us! I received it two days later in Zurich, many many thanks! She was so attentive and always took good care of customers!
We stayed at the Nira Alpina because it was an SPG property and unfortunately no longer is.... however I highly recommend the hotel because of the excellent staff and ambiance. It is very modern with a picturesque rooftop bar at the base of Corvatsch, perfect for a drink after a day of skiing. The breakfast included in the stay is amazing with plentiful healthy options and warm dishes made to order and the spa is relaxing. The location is removed from St Moritz so there are not many other restaurant/bar options nearby but it is perfect for a short stay to be pampered.
