Quiet location with great views and close to center

Our stay at Hotel Athena was very pleasant with very nice staff and nice surprise of complimentary wine when checking into the room. We booked the larger room and it was quite spacious with large bathroom and tub as well.
The Il Campo square and Duomo are about a 5-10 minute walk up th hill. But every street in Siena is either uphill or downhill!
The Duomo is amazing and well worth any stairs or hills.
Highly recommend Hotel Athena and this charming city. Taxi ride about 12 Euros from train station and worth it.

Location. Service. Views.

Hotel Athena is conveniently located right inside the gate of this Tuscan hill city, which means it is easy to get to with your car, and walk to the center of the city in five minutes. The parking is a bit cramped but in Italy that is the norm.

We traveled to a number of places in Italy. I can easily say that the staff of a Hotel Athena was the most pleasant, friendly, and informative we encountered.

The rooftop bar has great views of the town and surrounding landscape. The curated wine list was excellent with exceptional local Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The breakfast buffet had a reasonable set of choices. There are a number of family owned restaurants nearby. We tried one recommended by front desk that was an authentically Italian experience.

The rooms are large with high ceilings with well appointed bathrooms. Great venue to stay while visiting Siena.

Great Location Beautiful Accommodations

We had a room with a balcony and lovely views of the Tuscan Valley and hills. After the hustle and bustle of some of the bigger cities, this was a much-welcomed relief. While we had a car for side trips, we were minutes away from walking to all the major sites in Siena and enjoyed superb meals at restaurants recommended by the staff. The room was beautiful and on the large side (for European standards). Buffet breakfast was included with a very nice selection of hot/cold. On our departure date we were leaving earlier than breakfast started and were packed a lovely "breakfast bag." Hotel staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and accommodating.

A wonderful hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights as our “splurge” hotel and it was worth every penny. The room was large and well appointed, big bathroom and lovely shower. The breakfast was the biggest spread I have ever seen. Several hot options, fresh ricotta, massive number of pastries and breads, cereal, honey comb. The staff is incredibly accommodating. And of course, Siena is magnificent, as is the countryside. The view from our 7th fl room was wonderful, with the light and clouds and the countryside below us.

Very Enjoyable Stay

We had a comfortable, quiet room during the height of the "Palio" race. Staff were very helpful and the restaurant was first class. The roof top patio is beautiful ...warmer weather would have been welcome !
