Ok but needs work.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights during a short visit to Siena. The hotel's location was a short walk to the city center and pretty easy to access via car. Our first room was partially below ground and the bathroom/room was not in great shape. We payed a little more to move to a room above ground for the second day and while the view was pretty amazing, the bathroom was dirty and the room needed work. The breakfast selection large compared to most hotels in Italy and we ate once at the restaurant, which was pretty good. The staff was pretty friendly overall and David, who worked at the front desk at night, was a joy to talk to. Parking is a nice feature but their lots are extremely tight and you have to pull yourself out. Our rental car was definitely scratched during our stay, but luckily the damage was small. I have mixed feelings about this hotel and probably wouldn't stay there again. Decent in a pinch.

A nice stay

We had a nice stay here - reception staff friendly, nice spacious rooms and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was great, too. The only thing letting the hotel down was the wifi quality. It was intermittent at best which was a little frustrating. Other than that, a great stay!

Leo at the bar was amazing!

The Athena hotel was very comfortable with nice size rooms for Europe. The front desk was very helpful, but the best part of the place was Leonardo, the bartender. His passion for Siena was palpable! Loved his stories of the Palio and his contrade, the Tartuca (turtle)!

Outstanding service and facilities

Hotel Athena has great staff, always willing to help us. One of the receptionists gave me essential tips about driving in Tuscany roads in order to have panoramic views.
Hotel’s locations is perfect, inside de city walls and with its own parking, so if you come by car is the best place. Only few minutes walking from the main Siena attraction, you can do everything walking if you feel like it. Amazing breakfast with heaps of options, and it lasts from 7 to 11am, so you don’t need to get up early from bed.

Lovely relaxing few days

Hotel is in a quiet location just 10 minutes walk from the Campo and the cathedral, very convenient. Is comfortable and quiet and staff helpful and courteous. The breakfasts are first rate with an enormous choice to suit all. The rooftop restaurant and bar is very pleasant, with great views and good food.
