40th wedding Anniversary
Reviewed 14 hours ago

We travelled through Italy and this was the best hotel we stayed in . The staff made us feel very welcome. It was our 40th Wedding anniversary and they had decorated our room with towels made into the shape of swans with chocolates dotted on them. The room was very comfortable and large. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of food. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making our anniversary special, it was very much appreciated it. Jill & Neil

Oh, the View… the Terrace… Sigh!
Reviewed 1 day ago

We got ourselves a corner room on a higher floor and scored glorious views of the countryside and scenic cityscape from our windows.

Room: The spacious room had ample space to move around and store our luggage and a comfortable bed. The well-appointed en-suite bathroom with lovely tile was slightly tight for two people to share the sink and counterspace at the same time, but it was still totally doable. The shampoo, body wash and lotion provided had heavenly aromas; I just wish that the hotel would use refillable containers to be more environmentally friendly.

Hotel Amenities: The staff at the main desk are courteous and helpful. They got us a taxi to make our train during the morning of a big event when cabs were harder to come by.

The terrace bar afforded glorious sunset views as we sipped our cocktails and wine. It’s an extension of the hotel restaurant and hence maybe gets filled up by people with dinner reservations, but we were still able to grab a small table just to have some drinks before heading to another location one evening. The scenery at sunset is divine.

The breakfast provided is a smorgasbord of treats of great variety, including meats and cheeses, yogurt and fruit, eggs a variety of ways, pastries and custards, etc etc. Even a full honeycomb from which to slice some honey for your toast or tea. You can also enjoy breakfast with full service in the main restaurant, but we didn’t have a chance to try it.

Would We Stay Again? Absolutely!

Anything We’d Change? No, no complaints.

Good option

Not right in the heart of town but within the walls and less than a ten minute walk

Staff were very friendly and courteous

One complaint was breakfast, it was simply not up to scratch and the worst I had on the trip

Had an executive room and it was bright, airy, clean and spacious

Five Star Service With The Highest Quality Staff
Reviewed 3 days ago

I am on an extended working holiday and I was in Siena for an important meeting and dinner and stayed at the Hotel Athena for the first time (Executive View room) and could not be happier with both the room, hotel and especially the staff. Four of the front desk staff helped me immeasurably with printing Boarding Passes and the voucher for my car/driver to the Florence airport. They also helped get me in a couple of restaurants that were booked up months in advance so I am happy and thankful. The room, big and comfortable and the view of Siena was better than any postcard or travel photo I ever saw. I have been coming to this part of Italy well over 40 years and for future trips I will base myself here at the Athena. I base most of my reviews on the quality of the staff and here you will find quality unsurpassed and literally every person on the staff I spoke with English was no issue. Top quality all the way around and the hotel management should be proud to have this team running the hotel, highest marks. BTW, I wrote multiple e-mails to the hotel before arriving and each was responded to immediately and again the Front Desk staff were superlative in every way.

Peaceful Place to stay

Ideal place to stay for a few nights in Siena. Bedroom was very comfortable with modern bathroom. Breakfast was in indoor Breakfast room and there was plenty of choice. All staff were extremely helpful and well mannered. I can strongly recommend this hotel for a short break.
