Couldn't be better!

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in June 2019. The hotel is situated within the town walls a 10 minute walk to the main piazza. We were provided with a free bottle of red Tuscan wine perhaps because of the length of our stay and because we booked direct with the hotel as this was cheaper than the booking engines. The room was average size for an Italian hotel but we'll laid out and included all the expected amenity. They do pay attention to detail with things like plenty of soaps for when you run out, lollies left on your pillow each night and even free Cantucci {biscotti} in the lounge adjacent to reception. Breakfast was plentiful and offering a wide variety of food to suit all tastes. There is a terrace on the fifth level which is very pleasant to have a drink looking over the Tuscan hills. A very well run hotel and highly recommended.

Could be better

The first offered room was one under the street level - really like a cave. This kind of room was NOT described in the photos on booking.com. We were unhappy and, after discussing with the staff, we found a "better" room with a tiny window at the first floor (well, anyway better than the underground one). They said we booked only an "economy room" but, at more than 135€ / night this is unacceptable. The parking is also very full and park places are very small. We will not book this hotel again.

Great Hotel

Stayed two nights at Hotel AThena, and had a wonderful time. We had the "Executive" room, which is a bit more expensive, but was spacious (by European standards) and had the most wonderul views of the countryside outside the city. Parking was free and breakfast was included. The breakfast was substantial and excellent--coffee, juice, eggs (scrambled or baked), sausage, mushrooms, veggies, cheese and cold cuts, croissants, yogurt, fruit, cereal, and several choices of desert--really, you could eat enough to last till mid-afternoon. The terrace restaurant overlooking the Tuscan hills had excellent food and the service was impeccable--prices were the same as most upscale Italian restaurants, and it was both convenient and delicious. The staff was knowledgable, accomodating and spoke excellent English. I booked the hotel by calling them directly and I think that actually gave me a better price and more selection than trying to book online (though you should check their website to see what room you want). Overall, I was extremely satisfied.

Nice base for Siena and Tuscany

Good hotel, Staff pleasant. Unfortunately a wedding party was staying there the same time as us. They were loud and the walls were thin. But the front staff managed to move us to another room on a different floor even though they were booked solid. View from terrace was great! Breakfast was also very good.

Oh my, we had the most wonderful time staying at Hotel Athena. Nice, quite, walkable place to stay. It was clean and the staff were so accommodating. They helped us navigate our way around Siena.
Oh sweet Siena and lovely Hotel Athena.
