Bold, design-forward escape for grown-ups where you can curate own mini-bar and catch some sunshine poolside

The Lowdown

As Sentosa Island’s very first adults-oriented hotel, this 193-room property dipped into the area’s colonial heritage—namely, its past life as a military base—for design inspo. Rooms are snug but sleek, with black-and-white interiors and natural woods; walk-in showers are so comfortable they almost rival an afternoon at the rooftop pool. Though you most definitely won’t want to eschew the latter, a fully equipped deck with everything from an Amazonian lazy river to a series of dramatic cascading pools that take cues from travertine formations in Western Turkey. When hunger strikes, choose from shared Southeast Asian plates at Native Kitchen, hearty Indian cuisine at Royal Taj, or gourmet grab-and-go sandwiches and barista coffee at the decidedly more casual Supply Depot, perfect if you’re making a beeline for the beach. If you don’t want to budge from your sun-speckled wicker daybed poolside, an onsite bar churns out classic cocktails while a vintage Volkswagen food truck hawks hot dogs and ice pops.

In the Area

Located about 10-20 minutes from central Singapore, Sentosa Island is accessible via cable car, MRT—take the North-East Line or Circle Line and get off at the HarbourFront Station, then take the Sentosa Express or opt for the more scenic route along the Sentosa Boardwalk. The hotel stands near Sentosa’s three beaches: Siloso is the most heavily-trafficked stretch of sand and chock full of adventures like zip-lining; Palawan is more family-friendly with its calm lagoons and playgrounds; and Tanjong is considered the most sophisticated, home only to the Tanjong Beach Club, a stylish haunt that morphs into a buzzy dance party once the sun sets.
