How to Get There
The cliche 'a warm welcome' has meant as much as it means here.
The hotel with it's own private beach, the views of the the shipping on the straits, the restaurants but most of all the staff were superb.
We arrived on the day when the Christmas tree lights were switched on. A gorgeous buffet, free-flowing wine and the staff singing Carol's made for the most amazing first night at a hotel ever.
Courteous staff, awesome location, easy access to recreational places and amazing food. The checkin process was fast and easy. Remember, you are allowed to checkin only after 2 pm hence people arriving early can request in advance for early checkin. But then the staff will always allow you to use the private shower room to freshen up. Wish it had a toilet attached too! But then once checked in, the sprawling resort has abundant space and attached beach for a relaxing holiday. The pool is vast and ideal for children. There are water slides close to the pool and kids can really have a nice time. There are peacocks and iguana walking freely too. The lunch and breakfast buffet spread is wide with continental, Indian, Chinese and much more to feast on. Infact it can spoil you so much that you won’t enjoy any business hotel next time. All in all a superb property in Singapore everyone should stay.
I’ve stayed at this hotel many, many times and it’s high time to give a little back.
Over 15 years my family and I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, doing-well-at-school rewards for the kids and plain old “staycations” (we reside in SG as Expats) at this hotel and have never once been let down.
Over this length of time we have watched the island of Sentosa undergo significant changes and the hotel has remained a very viable option facing off favorably with the stiff competition & touristy razzmatazz of the mega-hotels and resorts.
Somehow, in its own secluded niche at the western tip of Sentosa, this hotel has maintained its charm and intimacy with tastefully done modernization of the facility and most importantly, maintained a unique culture blending a delightful mix of old world charm and contemporary tranquility.
The buffet breakfast is awesome and the several associated restaurants all serve up meals that haven’t disappointed. Lots of small thoughtful things by attentive and friendly staff makes for a pleasant experience. A little pricey, but hey, this isn’t a food court!
The hotel is definitely targeted at the young family with a great kids club and various activities for them include waterslide, kids pool, table tennis, poolside movies at night etc but it does manage look after us oldies as well with an adults-pool, poolside bar with food menu, spa, nice gardens and so on.
You are literally only short walk to the start of some of the tourist attractions and Universal Studios, Aquarium, Water World etc close by as well - so providing additional activities is not so high on the hotel’s agenda. They actually give you a nice break from these.
My advice would be to get a room that includes breakfast and to request a “sea view” room - as the nighttime views sipping on champers at the end of an exhausting fun-packed day is what its all about.
MBS and Resorts World are all well known, but do yourself a favor and do give Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa a try.
I've never liked waffles because even after going to the best places, I simply couldn't find amazing waffles. Well, until I went to this hotel and had their waffles in the morning. Now, I can't stop thinking about them. Another month of this and I'll fly to Singapore just to try those waffles again.
