How to Get There
We had the opportunity to stay on both sides of the resort. We took a package that had us in a regular room... Leave for 2 days at the Riu Ocho Rios and back to the Deluxe Hotel. The regular room left much to be desired, and we were left in a pool of water from a leak from the toilet with one person on call for the whole resort.
The beach... it is extremely rocky...so it was not enjoyable to me and my boyfriend. If you do not have water shoes you will be in pain just getting into the water.
The food at the restaurants were primo! Really delicious.
It really made me sad that the downstairs bar made coffees and had no lactose free or coconut milk to make a latte or to have a creamy drink. That really would have helped with my food allergies. Please add lactose free milk and I will definitely come back.
The fitness person who gave the classes did a fantastic job...he had great energy and helped me get me work out in for the mornings.
The staff at the spa were not extremely friendly when we walked in. I usually get services but I did not feel like I wanted to come back there because we didn't get the greeting that we get from other resorts. The ladies may need to smile or be more welcoming.
The pool entertainment staff was a ball of fun...so we enjoyed them...they created so much fun.
It would be actually helpful to have someone actually playing really good music at the pool. When at the Riu they had an actual DJ playing soca, dancehall, reggae r&b and Top 40..it was really really good. I felt like that musical experience would have made it feel a little bit better.
Good vacation...hope to come back
I loved my stay. Rooms are big, and we'll furnished. Staff is very nice. If you have any problem with the room, they definitely come fast and fix it. The beach is nice, and there's guests of different age bracket so it's easy to mingle and make new friends. Food is very nice. Alcohol is the real deal. The Spa was amazing. I had a Jamaican loco massage and it is the best massage I've ever had (99$ includes massage and circuit). Could be a bit much because I had a promo price. That hotel is a 5 stars. I loved it
My reservations were for a sea view suite at the Bahia Principe. Upon checking in I was greeted with a warm towel, a rum punch and an upgrade to sea view suite on the the Luxury side. The room was nice , clean and sunny, large with a great balcony overlooking the pool.
The mini fridge consists of two Red Stripe beers, water, coke and tonic water which they refresh daily. The mini bar consists of a small bottle of Appleton Rum & Sky Vodka. There’s a coffee maker with coffee, creamer sugar cups and spoons also.
The television is about a 32inch with some channels, HBO, Cinemax only and some sports channels. A guide would be nice since there wasn’t one provided.
In the closet you have 2 robes, slippers, ironing board and iron.
The bed is comfortable but didn’t like the pillows, were too soft and too small but I made the best of them.
The safe I had problems with since there were no instructions and I wasn’t shown how to use it until the next day. Seems you insert your keycard then add your security code. Simple but confusing if you’re not shown or told.
This hotel is huge, I got lost a couple of times but managed to find shortcuts.
The pool is HUGE and there are three of them supine the Bahia and The Luxury are connected. There are two parts, Luxury pool which are broken into the sections, the quiet, chill part and the I call Party part because there’s always something happening there. The entertainment team keep activities going.
The water was always clean and also warm. Umbrellas and loungers were always available but the Palapas go fast so if you want one of those get up early to get it.
The beach is small and in some parts it looks like the Sea is reclaiming some of it. The guards keep the vendors from bothering you and it’s clean. Even though it’s man-made, the water is just waist deep in its furthest area and if you go towards the rocks you can see multiple schools of fish. They literally swim up to you as you stand there. Yes the water is that clear. If you snorkel bring you goggles, you will be amazed.
The drinks by the pool and the beach were okay. Feel the cups they provided were too small so if you didn’t bring your own cup , which they have no problem filling, you will be ordering multiple. The bartenders also need to add a wee bit more liquor to their drinks especially the frozen ones because you really don’t taste the alcohol. Bring your own straws, the resort doesn’t provide them.
I didn’t eat at the specialty restaurants but the Jazmine buffet was good. Much of a selection so there’s something for everyone for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I must give a shout to Omario, I think his name is, he was very sweet and even made me his speciality drink which I had two because they were that good. He was very polite and went out his way to make your dinner pleasant.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Luxury and would return.
