How to Get There
We didn't see much other guests when we were there. The location is wonderful on a hill with private beach and great views of the bay. One afternoon we could see the whales from our balcony! Its 15 minute drive from Samana however the road from Samana is very bad!. It is close to Playa Rincon and Las Galeras. There is a restaurant onside which is pricy and the food (Steak) wasn't that great but at least it is an option if you don't want to cook! The apartment was down to hill. Its a steep climb for elderly! The apartment had everything. Wifi, cooking utensils. cable tv etc.
I found that there are not real supermarkets near this property and also we couldn't find them in Samana. If you come down from Santo Domingo you could want to buy your groceries in St. Domingo (Nacional or La Sirena). There are many colmados for your beers, bread, eggs etc.
Great place to relax, the best view! Our apartment or room was excelent, two bedrooms and a kitchen, clean and very comfy, the staff at front desk also cery nice, this is a great place to relax and enjoy a few days off, and from this location you can go to Las Galeras and many other attractions nearby
We stumbled upon this hotel by accident. It was awesome. The accomadations were a little I the small side but the location was worth it. Our double terrace overlooked the ocean. Everything was quite comfortable. The roads are steep so you'll probably need to drive around the property. The pool is gorgeous and spacious. The restaurant and bar were a little pricey but the view is stunning. Its a great location because it's only a few minutes outside the heart of town.
We made reservations for a three bedroom apartment, however upon entrance to the apartment, we found mold, it smelled so bad that I could hardly breathe. We called the front desk to make them aware of the smell and they sent someone to fumigate the place and spray it with air fresher, The smell continued and we finally decided to check where the smell was coming from. We lift the cushions from the furniture and found mold all around. There were only few people staying at the hotel and when we asked if they could switch the room they said we had to wait until the next day. The entrance door did not close and we had to call the front office to have them send somebody to replace the hinge on the door because we had to slam it in order to close. They also had a non working safe deposit in the room. This place is not meant for elderly since you have to drive down to the apartments from the reception area or wait until they can send one of their cars down to your building. You have to walk down huge stairs in order to get to the beach as well. There is nothing around the hotel and the food was very limited.
I went to Vista Mare in june and it was a great vacation. We had a problem with our credit card and the lady at the reseption Maria Green, she was very heplfull and she make anything possible so we can stay in the hotel. The vieuw from the balcony to the Ocean was amazing. The room and the balcony have space also a laundry. The restaurant staff amazing specialy Rodrigo Vasquez he was very friendly and he was always available when we need something to drink. I give the hotel a 4 because I found that the food at the restaurant was very poor and very expensive. I order a calamari and was salty. But for the rest I enjoy my vacation.
