Situated on a 50-acre coconut farm, the 22 bungalows of Rancho do Peixe offer guests outdoor showers, private decks and hammocks perfect for lazing. The bungalows are raised on stilts and made from reclaimed wood and local carnauba straw. The four-poster beds have gauzy canopies, floral print headboards and throw pillows in fuchsia, shamrock-green and tangerine. The restaurant serves traditional northeastern Brazilian cuisine alongside international favorites, with many dishes making use of local fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s organic garden. Overlooking the beach, the Luma spa offers relaxing massages and cleansing skin treatments. However, the real draw is the Rancho do Kite kitesurfing school, which offers courses lasting from one to three days that will have you flying over the waves in no time.
In the Area
Rancho do Peixe offers free transportation daily to sister property Vila Kalango, in the nearby fishing village of Jericoacoara, where you can learn to windsurf at the hotel’s Ticowind School. In addition, Jericoacoara is home to award-winning restaurants and reggae-infused nightclubs if you need to get back to civilization for a night. Watching the sunset from the aptly named Sunset Dune is not to be missed, but if you’re looking for something more active, you can saddle up and explore the dunes, coconut groves and lagoons on horseback. Rancho do Peixe can also arrange tours of other surrounding villages, nearby lagoons and Jericoacoara National Park.
How to Get There
I just came back from my third visit to Rancho do Peixe. It is a a trek to get to from where I live, but it's so lovely and peaceful it's worth it. While I go there because I am learning to kitesurf and the conditions are excellent, I continue to choose to stay at Rancho do Peixe because it's an all around great experience. The hotel rooms are very well appointed, rustic bungalows with locally sourced toiletries and furniture, and hammocks are on the porch. From the bungalow I stay in, I can see the ocean and kites in the air, and hear the wind and waves from my bed, which I love. At night I can lie in a hammock and see the stars. The facility aims to be eco minded and preserve the natural surroundings as much as possible. The staff is excellent- very professional and friendly. The Reservations Department has always been so helpful with coordinating transfers to/from the airport, answering all my questions, and accommodating my requests. There is a beautiful pool, a restaurant with a bar, a beach bar that serves food and drinks, yoga, and massage. A kite school is on site which I have taken lessons at. This visit I saw that SUP is now available. The food is fresh and delicious, they have some vegetarian options, and I even had vegan bread which was very good. The cooks there are great, and breakfast is my favorite meal because of the fresh yogurts, fresh fruits, juices, and variety of foods, including Brazilian food. While the beach gets very windy and filled with kitesurfers as the day progresses, in early morning it's quiet with fairly light winds and you would be able to take a dip by the shore with the low tides. Even if you don't kitesurf, if you are up for peaceful relaxation, this is a wonderful place to go to decompress. The guests I have encountered are very friendly, and the entire vibe of the resort is laid back and calm. The village of Prea is walkable from the resort (about 12-15 minutes) and there are pharmacies, a grocery, and a few restaurants and bars. There is a free shuttle to/from Jericoacoara, which is a beach town with bars, music, restaurants, and some shopping. It's fairly busy, so I prefer staying in Prea, but it's worth a visit. The Reservations Department can coordinate day trips to local sites, as well. Overall I strongly recommend Rancho do Peixe and I look forward to going back.
This place is sheer bliss. They’ve created an oasis of tranquility, calm and beauty from the sand.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable. You really feel like you’re living outside inside. The place is stunning. They’ve thought of all the finer details and the touches in the rooms, adapter plug, nice toiletries, decent hairdryer, welcome drink. We stayed in the beach bungalows. Very spacious rooms which feel private.
WiFi was top speed everywhere despite it being such a spacious resort. Breakfast and food in general is top notch.
Not all the staff could speak English but that didn’t matter, they were all very helpful and polite. Mara on front desk was particularly helpful in assisting us with our onward journey to Jeri. A joy to deal with.
If you come up to this region stay here. You won’t be disappointed. So good we cancelled our 2 days in Morro Branco to come back here after Jeri.
Arrived yesterday and staying here for a few nights and already compelled to leave a review. This place is just stunning and has a beautiful vibe to the place. The pool area is large and really well maintained. Lots of chill out areas and they have created the perfect relaxation place. Coffee and cake, fruit readily available all day free of charge, which is a lovely touch. Food and breakfast is amazing, they truly go the extra mile with everything organic and freshly prepared and baked. The juices are amazing too. The attention to detail is exceptional, the beach bungalows, just idillic. My only concern is that 3 nights just isn’t long enough.
We took a beach bungalow. They are simple, everything possible is made from natural materials, but that doesn't mean basic, they are stylish and the cheerful flowery fabric everywhere is a clever touch. The rooms have all that you need, and I especially liked that there was no TV. The beach is perfect for Kite but not ideal for little children as it's a long way down to the sea and it's quite "big" sea. Having said that we did go in the rainiest season possible.
The rest of the hotel is equally perfect, lots of areas for lounging around and reading. There is a TV room for my daughter's fix of paw patrol. The service was excellent, all the staff were helpful and particularly welcoming to children. The food is really good, Breakfast has everything you could hope for, fresh fruit and juices are especially good. If you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable get away from it all I can't think of anywhere nicer
We are here for the second time. Another wonderful stay! Everything absolutely perfect. Rancho do Peixe loves animals, and we love them! And that's exactly why we like to come back. Our friends will now visit the Rancho do Peixe too. This is a recommendation for the whole world. Many many thanks!
