- Room Service
The first resort in the X2 (pronounced “Cross-To”) portfolio, Kui Buri is located on the secluded beach of Ao Noi, between the royal retreat of Hua Hin and the beach resort town of Pranburi. But it’s quite different from the busy resorts in either of those locales, with just 23 high-design villas on four acres. Each of the villas has a private outdoor garden or private pool, as well as indoor and outdoor rain showers. An abundance of mature trees and unimpeded views of the Gulf of Thailand connect guests with nature. The Thai (and Western and fusion) fare in the 4K (“fork”) restaurant and Thai massages on offer in the spa connect guests with local culture.
In the Area
This X2 resort is in the Prachuap Khiri Khan region, an underdeveloped coastal area three hours’ drive from Bangkok and just 30 minutes from Hua Hin, where the Thai royal family decamps when they’re in holiday mode. (Hua Hin is also a center of golf courses and resorts.)
How to Get There
The guests, that resided at the hotel. High society Thais who looked down on myself and my Thai wife and who were extremely rude to my child and my friends children. Went there specifically for a relaxing spa weekend but when we tried to book a massage was told the spa is fully booked!!!! The hotel is dog friendly and the guests literally treated the dogs like humans. Our kids received numerous nasty comments from the guests about playing around there dogs. I then went to tell the guests that talked badly to our children that if they have a problem do not talk to the kids in a nasty manner, come to talk to me directly. During meal times, certain individuals had there dogs sitting at the dinner table as if it was a human. Very unhygienic and the staff did not say anything. Upon entering the reception after getting out of my car, a black honder civic that was parked at reception wound down the window and took a picture of me and drove away, I’m guessing an intimidation tactic to the earlier conflict at breakfast. Saturday night was a buffet dinner, we did not want to attend due to the previous nasty comments from the guests in the resort, and to avoid further confrontations so asked for room service. We was told no room service as there was a buffet dinner, after an argument, the hotel begrudgingly allowed us to order room service. Food substandard at best and very expensive for what you get. The hotel capitalizes on the fact that there is nowhere else to eat in the area due to the remote location. Very expensive prices. During dinner on the first night the food did not come out together, my wife and her friend ordered the same spaghetti dish and they came out 30mins apart. Ordered pizza for the kids, which came out last. The adults received and finished there food before the kids had received there’s, they were extremely hungry. Food came out and then plates were laid on the table after the food had arrived. Terrible service.
OK. I’m a complete hotel snob and interior designer but I detest insincere stuffy service and pretentious properties. I’ve been to this X2 1/2 dozen times. Every time I got just what I needed: peace, relaxation, service, design, beachfront, private villas, value! Very private and out of the way. Most people will not make the extra effort to get here and I hope that doesn’t change. Need a car or long taxi ride (3-4 hrs) to get there so mostly Thai visitors but not exclusively. Staff are naturally kind, professional, accommodating and well trained. Rooms are a dream of modern architecture built with local materials. Private pools some with lawns facing the beach. You can choose to engage with other guests or hide in a peaceful oasis. Can’t say enough good about this place. Hope it never changes!
This is our second time here since last 4-5 years. We travelled as a couple for 1 night. Our room was Beach front duplex villa number 2. The room was dirty and look old. TV were very old and signal was poor. Internet signal was OK. The water heater on 1st floor was out of order and the bathroom was very stinky. The air conditioner was old and noisy. Our pool was OK but lack of privacy, some guests came into our private area and use the hammock. BBQ buffet was below our expected. Chef forgot our order and we had to wait for a long time. Seafood BBQ was fresh but not delicious. Music band was very good. The restaurant manager was very kind and helpful. The worst part was front desk management. We couldn't call for check out because the phone busy all the time. They couldn't gave me the receipt because the account manager didn't work on Sunday! The good part of this hotel were nice sea view, quiet and pet friendly.
Nice place to visit for your chill trip with girfriend or friends.
Private pool villa is the best choice for a couple.
Good breakfast choices of food.
You can stay cuddling on bed without any annoyance or swimming/chilling in private pool emtire day.
Quiet, calm, clean and comfort.
Not for you if:
You want to go visit traveler’s spots. A bit far from every spots, if you not too lazy.
You want crowded public pool.
We had room 4 opening onto the sea. Lovely big room and balcony, with hammock as well as loungers no more than 20 meters from the sea. Wonderful sounds.
All the meals we had were excellent. Fusion cuisine as well as Thai.
Staff were delightful. We had our own small pool as well as access to large hotel pool which was 20m long at least.
Bed comfry, no bouncing so good for light sleepers.
Plumbing a bit tired. Bath too small for european. Lovely hot shower.
Free bicycles and kayaks. Lovely interesting beach for walking.
