Measuring in as the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, blissful Mallorca boasts miles of picturesque beaches, serene mountainscapes and a plethora of beguiling hill towns, just waiting to be explored. Perched right on the beach on its northern coast, the four-star Iberostar Playa de Muro occupies a prime spot in this sun-drenched destination.
When you’re not soaking up the rays, you can spend your days making use of the hotel’s generous selection of sports and activities, including miniature golf, scuba diving, horseback riding and guided cycling tours. If taking it easy is more your thing, SPA Sensations is the perfect place to unwind after an adventure-packed day exploring island’s mountains (or just to treat yourself to some much-deserved vacation R&R).
Your Double Side Sea View room comes complete with a terrace, so you’ve space to gaze over the vista. Modern in design, rooms are situated in two low-rise buildings, with just three floors, for an intimate ambiance.
Iberostar Playa de Muro offers a sumptuous breakfast to kick off your day, with coffee, fresh juices and fruit, yogurt, bread and pastries all laid out on a tempting buffet. Lunch and dinner is also served buffet-style and incorporates healthy local and international dishes. In addition to the buffet restaurant, you’ll find the Llegeig Burger House and Llevant Restaurant, which is only open during the summer season. There’s also a sophisticated Piano Bar for an evening spent with a cocktail to the soft soundtrack of tinkling ivories.
The Iberostar Playa de Muro is home to the SPA Sensations, a dedicated relaxation area that’s designed to lull you into tranquility. Yoga and meditation are offered here, alongside a range of rejuvenating treatments, including massages and facials. Individual wellness programmes can be tailored to suit you and, in the spa, you’ll find a Jacuzzi, air beds, heated loungers, ice fountain, Turkish bath, jet shower, sauna and a pool.
The Iberostar Playa de Muro is situated on Muro beach on Mallorca’s blissful coastline. Puerto de Alcudia is three miles away, the town of Ca’n Picafort is four miles away and Mallorca’s international airport is 34 miles from the hotel. The area is blanketed in beautiful pine forest, and the hotel itself is located right on the beach.
How to Get There
After pouring over Trip Advisor reviews forever it seemed like, we finally decided to stay here (vs. the 5 Star Iberostar property in Palma) and we were very happy with our choice. If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would - it wasn't quiet 5 stars but I think 4 is a little low for what we experienced. Prior to check in, I called several times and emailed as well since we are a family of 5 and had to book 2 rooms, with a request for the two rooms to be close to each other (preferably same floor, definitely same building) and spoke with the people on property as well (you need to call 800 number in FL I believe and have them transfer you since there is no toll free number), anyway once we arrived we found out we were in separate buildings and there was also a mix up in the price that we were guaranteed. Needless to say after waiting a while we did resolve everything, get our rooms in the same building (not same floor) but since our children are teenagers it was acceptable to us (and they didn't complain either LOL). The rooms were beautiful and our wait was well worth it - they gave us one of the best rooms (we had ocean view may have even been a corner room so maybe a little larger than normal). The food (and wine) was better than expected - family favorite was the live music at the Beer Garden every night - it was so much fun (even though there weren't many people there most nights). There were a lot of activities for everyone. Getting to know which places were open at what times took a little getting used to but we never went hungry and the drinks were always delicious. The area was safe and convenient with a supermarket across the street, bike rentals (that we took advantage of as well). The breakfast every morning was to die for - omelette station staff were friendly and amazing unfortunately I didn't write this review right away and forgot their names but we went to the gentleman on the left side (if you are looking at the stations) and he was absolutely wonderful! It is about 45 minutes from the airport in Palma but well worth it! I took a yoga class that was nice and participated in the spinning class on the beach - so fun! We also took a walk down the beach to the jetty which was gorgeous (great spot for kids to take pictures for Instagram, etc). We would definitely come back. Thank you to all of the staff so sorry we forgot names but the ladies & gentlemen who were part of the entertainment were amazing as well!!!
Unfortunately we arrived at Playa de Muro at the wrong moment. That time, the area was hit by stormy weather with heavy rainfall. Many rooms had problems with water leaks. Our rooms were upgraded to rooms with poolview but because they were located on the groundfloor without seeing sun, they were uncomfortable, moisturous, chilly. Besides this issue, no remarks, the hotel was great.
This place may be different in the summer, but beware the October half term and prices that do not reflect the experience in any way. Every day we were there (mum, dad and 10/11 year olds), one facility or other closed with no notice. The sea house - full of good stuff like kayaks, paddle boards etc - closed initially because of the weather, which after a day or so was pretty much perfect. Still closed - disappointed and bemused children. Then the outdoor restaurant and snack van closed, leaving one (on the whole good) option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ended up dining out in Alcudia, despite the all inclusive package. Overall, the hotel felt a bit half hearted. The end of the season is coming and they were just not trying very hard. We even had to go and buy table tennis bats to allow our children to play on the hotel's own table. Their own bats had been lost. I liked the staff, particularly those who cleaned the room attentively and quickly every day. All in all, we paid way over the odds for an average experience, with a tiny family room in a hotel that was poised to close for the winter. We'll be more careful next time.
Just me and my 11 year old went for a week's break. Never let down by a iberostar...Alway something to do and food it always 8/10.
Bar staff at pool bar never seemed happy...
