How to Get There
Excellent service! We always come back for good accommodations provided by your staff. Thank You Glaiza Castillo for taking care of us, providing us our needs such as towels, soaps, and all sorts of amenities.
Spend only 1 day at this hotel but boy,did they deliver! Our international flight arrived early so we have to wait a couple of hours before a room was available. We were welcomed with a pleasant smile by Patricia and Jennifer at Front Desk. As Titanium Elite we were upgraded to a suite that has a living room and 2 bathrooms. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom is spacious with a walk in shower and ample toiletries. There's a remote controlled blind that offers privacy when using the bathroom. The Executive Lounge has varied selection of juices, breads, made to order omelets and so much more. The Marriott is a large hotel and is right next to a golf course. You can avail free shuttle service at the NAIA using Resorts World shuttle that runs every 45 minutes.I used the Business Center to send a package through LBC and was assisted by Ann Suson. However I wrote the wrong address and it was not received by the recipient.I was back in the US when I realized the error and emailed Ann. She responded and took care of the problem right away. Wow,I was impressed how they assisted me and kept me on the loop the whole time. So the package finally arrived to my friend without any hiccup and I'm sending my gratitude to the Business Center staff, Ann and Redgen Velasco, you guys rock! To all the staff of Marriott Manila from the security guards, concierge,Executive Lounge attendants and housekeeping, thank you so much for displaying professionalism, good attitude and excellent service to all your guests. No wonder Marriott Manila is one class act.
I was amazed by the cleanliness, attentiveness of the staff, and the entire accommodation complex. From the bars to the spa to the room Marriott Manila is the perfect escape from the Manila streets. The staff is top notch, ensuring you are in good care. They have great food options, from in room dining to 3 different restaurants as well as bars that serve small plates and bites. One thing to be careful of, they have a shuttle service to the airport, but it’s a limited schedule. Be sure to ask well in advance of your departure time.
I stayed in this property in 3 separate occasions while in Manila usually for a day or two before I fly out for domestic flights. The airport shuttle only runs every hour which I think is poor, it should run at least every 30 mins. Otherwise you end up staying in the airport too long. Depending on traffic and which terminal you are going to, it can take 15-30 mins to get to your terminal so plan ahead. Plus I was able to leave my luggage securely as I did my domestic travels. The rest of my stay in Manila was spent at the Manila Peninsula so a lot of the service expectations is relative to my experience to my stay in the Peninsula since they are both classified as a 5 star hotel.
Lets first talk about the location. Yes this is an airport hotel but unlike other airport hotels where there really is nothing around there, this hotel has lots going on in the area, golfing, shops, etc. Maybe not as huge of selection as Makati but if you need to stay here for a couple of days, it will be sufficient. Plus grab (equivalent to uber) to Makati if the traffic is not bad is not that expensive.
The hotel itself is beautiful but just like the comment of another reviewer, the air freshener as you walk in the hotel is horrible. Its this cheap chemically strong annoying air freshener that ruins the look and feel of the hotel. Its like they are trying to mask a bad odor with it. That really needs to change or go. Every time I walk in the lobby, I just have to hold my breath. The place is very expansive, I was only able to stay in the west wing which is my preferred location since its more quiet. The rooms are modern and well equipped, does it pass my quiet test? I would say yes but the peninsula has better sound proofing since its carpeted unlike the Marriot that has wooden (laminate?) floors. I stayed in different rooms in the west wing 5008, 8026 and 3028, all these rooms are facing the golf course. I believe these are not standard rooms but are premiere. I really like the rooms here, very roomy, functional and well appointed. The internet is fast and reliable, theres a small cooler (not fridge) and you really cant request for a small fridge if you have special items that need to be refrigerated (meds, special dietary foods etc). Everything you see in the pics are accurate for the room. The gym in the west wing is pretty good and it also has a sauna or steam room.
Why only 4 stars? The service is good but not as good as the Peninsula or even Shangri-la. What sets apart 2 properties that may be equal in a lot of categories is the service. CM and Gerard are very helpful but some of the people in the front desk esp the ones in the west wing are just mediocre at best, sometimes even lacking warmth and hospitality. The bell boys are pretty good but I was impressed with BENJ who even checked my flight details to ensure that I am going to the right terminal (so PLEASE tip your bell/bus boys especially if they do a great job) . That was something that the front desk did not even do for me. IN fact when I asked the front desk if I have to pay some fees when I take my international flight from NAIA, they couldn’t answer it. The concierge is not very good, a property of this caliber needs to invest in a good concierge, someone who has a vast personal experience and exposure to what he/she recommends and not simply getting recommendations from online.
I checked in this hotel on a special rate, this hotel is quite expensive, even more expensive than some of the 5 star hotels in Makati. I wouldn’t mind checking back in this hotel with my special rate but if I had to pay the same or more than a hotel like the Pen or Shang, I would rather stay in those hotels until some of the kinks have been ironed out. And please do something with that air freshener 😊
We stayed overnight cause we attended a friend’s wedding.
The service was impeccable. The room we stayed in was very clean, very modern and has complete amenities. The bathroom was the same as well.
We had in-room dining delivered and they were very accommodating. I love that they only have 1 button to call/push for everything and anything that you need.
