How to Get There
I have run into the same problem that a number of other guests commenting in this forum have run into: unavailability of the original charge card.
In my case, the bank replaced my credit card and changed my credit card number between the time I booked and the time I was going to check in.
I contacted the hotel 5 days before check in, using the email and Philippine cell phone that were both specified during the original booking, and provided my Philippine picture ID.
Their only offered resolution was that upon arrival at the hotel for check-in, they would charge the entire stay as brand new, and credit the prior transaction--for a transaction that was already fully prepaid.
What do you think? They don't trust me using pre-established credentials. Should I trust them to refund my money immediately upon check-in? Should I really have to spend the entire vacation hoping that my money will be credited the next business day, which will be after I have already returned home and have little standing with my credit issuer?
Management of the resort is divided between Metro Manila and Bohol. The "pay twice, refund once" option was offered by their Metro Manila office. Upon frustration, I attempted to call resort manager to see if there was any other option. They have yet to reply.
This is an unnecessarily stressful situation. There are other details complicating my stay, for which the resort is trying to work with me. But they offer no additional ways to confirm identity that a reasonable traveler can rely upon.
Buyer Beware. They are strict about this policy. At the time I booked this stay, I had no reason to believe I shortly would be receiving a new credit card with a new number. This is not the type of situation that travel insurance covers.
Please note, this transaction was booked directly through their website using Verified by Visa two-factor authentication. I'm really at a loss as to what I could do differently. The website does mention this policy under a separate "Terms of Reservation" click-box. But given how unusually strict its enforcement is, it should be in bold on the page where you enter your credit card number.
I am still working with the resort, and I will update if there is any other resolution. I truly hope there will be. But this is happening to me well before check-in, for someone living in the Philippines, in Metro Manila, where the resolution should be easy. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone arriving from abroad for a long-planned vacation.
Expected much more from a 5 star resort. Rooms are very nice with WiFi and hot water and nice toilet. Food is definitely not 5 stars, they make it look nice when served but tastes terrible. My husband ordered just potato wedges for lunch because the food was so subpar he didn’t want to take any risks, even those were terrible. Service was also pretty rude. They came knocking on our door telling us to check out at 10 when checkout is at 11 and they had already reminded us the night before. Looks 5 star on the surface, beautiful beach and pools but actual stay leaves much to be desired. Beware they nickel and dime you for everything, be prepared to pay for every little thing.
Located at the end of Alona Beach, Bohol's closest thing that resembles Boracay's station 1 and 2. Like Boracay there are white sands but if you look closely at the picture the sands have a little bit of impurities and isn't as powdery when compared to Boracay's sands. Continuing with this Boracay comparison, Henann Resort would be like the nicer hotels found in Boracay's Station 1.
Starting with the staff that greets you when you get picked up from the newly launched Tagbilaran airport (which is only approximately 10 minutes away by van), everyone we met was very helpful and hospitable.
Resort has a nice large lobby/reception area, which is always buzzing with international guests mostly from countries like Korea and China. Despite the buzz, we were easily able to check in and get to our room, which was on the hotel side (the resort also offers villas).
Room was adequate (standard room, bathroom, TV size) and clean. Nothing too fancy. There are many large pools leading up to Alona Beach, where the hotel has placed lounge chairs and umbrellas for their guests (it's the only hotel on Alona Beach that does that).
We had breakfast here at the higher end (according to the front desk we asked) restaurant called Christina's. It was choose from the menu + buffet style. From the menu I chose the New York New York set (bagel, caramelized eggs, smoked salmon, cream cheese) and the European breakfast (eggs Benedict with prosciutto on toast), were both were very professionally prepared and tasted great. The breakfast bar had additional food and you could also order sides such as additional bacon, longanisa (Filipino sausage), and eggs any way you want them. Needless to say we enjoyed breakfast and were quite happily stuffed that morning.
Overall it was nice place and if my budget couldn't quite make it for Eskaya (the most gorgeous hotel in Bohol) then we'd stay here again next time. The only thing we didn't like about Henann was that it's nonrefundable reservations.
We took Cebu Pacific going to Bohol and for reason of weather, they canceled the flight on us and we couldn't rebook so we had to go for flight the next day (tip: don't fly Cebu Pacific if you can afford Philippine Airlines, it's so unreliable).
Anyway, we told Henann of our situation and they told us we couldn't get refunded for that night and that we should get the refund from the airline. I thought given we had 3 nights booked at the place they could have at least canceled that first night since we couldn't do anything about it or at least allowed us to use that missed night as some sort of credit at the resort.
Stayed at your hotel for few days. The room is very clean and spacious. The staffs are very courteous and friendly. We enjoyed the pool very much. Breakfast buffet is wonderful. One thing that is lacking is the entertainment. It would be better if you have even a solo performer at the bar by the beach at night for entertainment so that we can stay longer. We are planning for another visit👍
Breathtaking in every way
Amazing staff everywhere in this resort
If I could make a suggestion : the breakfast could largely be improved
Also, the boat excursion was not very good and the staff on the boat not very friendly
Plus it was expensive
And near the hotel there are masseuses that have tried to con us to pay a lot
Finally the hotel was great but really expensive , a tad too much
