How to Get There
Beautiful villas with great view and great location. But the staff, the service were disappointing. We went here as two couples and we had booked two sea view villas close to each other. Once we got there, we realised that the sea view villas actually have a partial sea view with other villas blocking the view. They had changed one of our villas to garden view - without checking with us, at the same high price of sea view. We then wanted to moved into the family villa but that took them another 30 minutes of processing our request. We waited an actual hour and a half before we could all check-in despite multiple emails and communication beforehand. Once we got in, the family villa is stunning with beautiful unfettered sea view and great food & cocktails at the restaurant. The service was not great in terms of not stocking up coffee or minibar or not enough cups for 4 of us everyday and when we enquired regarding 2 hour late checkout - there was a 75USD charge per hour.
So, all in all - lovely views from family villa but for the rest of the villas and service -not so good.
I proposed to my girlfriend (now fiancee) here about 2 weeks ago. Planning the proposal was not at all difficult given the very accommodating staff, breathtaking views, and world-class service that Eskaya has to offer. The staff set-up a private view deck just steps away from our room and had prepared a delicious meal. They also bought the flowers for me and made sure to take pictures as I subtly positioned myself for the proposal. They all played along -- including the weather which we were really lucky with. The experience that Eskaya allows in such intimate milestones is just something out of a movie and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an escape and much needed privacy.
Yes, room was great and no, will not ever return. This resort has an unusual policy that meals consumed on property be paid immediately. Usually, you can charge meals, purchases, etc, to the room and settle the bill as you are checking out. But in this case, payment is required immediately after each meal. We happened to go for a long walk one day along the coast. It was a hot day and we came back thirsty. Did not bring our wallet so we promised to come back later with our payment. We went out for dinner and when we came back, we were picked up by a golf cart at the entrance to the property. My husband stepped out of the golf cart near the restaurant to head over and settle the bill , but I was driven to the main building with no explanation and told to go to the front desk where I was presented with an invoice and informed that it was for the drinks we ordered earlier and it was due. That made me feel embarrassed like we were trying to skip out of paying our bill. It’s an island, I really don’t think we will go far even if we try. The rooms already totaled in the thousands of dollars for the 5 nights we were there, I don’t think we would skip out on not even $20 worth of drinks. The beaches had a lot of sea grass so was not conducive to swimming. The rooms were great, the staff friendly but just those two incidents would deter me from coming back.
