How to Get There
Very relaxed, chill place — simple beachfront space, nice breakfast spread, old but well-maintained Filipino house, and an in-house art gallery. Really nice and relaxing. The ambiance is good, the facilities are okay, but the service makes it 5-star.
Our young family spent a wonderful 10 days here. Beautifully situated, the boutique resort enjoys a relaxing green atmosphere as you enter, reminding me more of entering a traditional Boholese house with its nod to local architectural styles, furniture, access and open space. The restaurant is one of the main open gathering spaces overlooking lush trees across to the water. The pool is naturally heated (!!) as it's constructed on flat rock that soak up the suns rays throughout the day. It was perfect for my toddler to swim and wade while adults can still do short laps around the deeper end. The art museum has an impressive private collection of paintings and wood carvings you can't miss. The library offers entertainment in movies, books, and board games. Access to the beach requires going up and down steps, and across a stretch of sheltered sand. It's close to a public beach area as well, so you don't feel completely secluded as much as you're part of a local community enjoying water sports and cooking out. The tides would move in and out significantly, giving us the chance to explore sea grass ecosystems. I cannot say more positive things about the staff; everyone absolutely everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. It really felt like we were staying with family there. The rooms themselves are lushly appointed, with warm wood accents, thoughtful amenities, locally made art and furniture, each one just slightly different to give it a unique appearance. We also took several day trips out with the hotel recommended operators and enjoyed all of our outings as we could explore more of the natural beauties away from the island.
Came here for lunch. Amarela is a lovely hidden gem in Libaong. Unassuming gate on the road opens up to a lovely serene pristine green resort. Very picturesque indeed as it is set on a cliff. Lunch was lovely, not too expensive and the service was great too. Best part is that you can then stroll through the resort to the fabulous White Beach below. In my opinion so much better than Alona Beach. Highly recommended to those who want a bit of peace, although you can hear the works going on next door at the J Park excavations.
