Peaceful
Reviewed 3 days ago

When you want some peace and quiet, this is the place. It is not located in the more crowded beach area. It has its own beach. So for honeymooners, this is the perfect place. By the way, it has a small corner of collection of local Boholano arts which makes the place uniquely interesting.

Not the best quality/price ratio

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days and were a little disappointed by the quality of it.

+: the lovely staff, the location, the charm of the place, the two boats tours that we booked (do not forget to bring earplugs and you have to pay environnemental fees and guide fees that are not included in the price - the hotel should explain it a little more)

- : The place was crowded and the pool is very small. During 5 days we did not have the chance to enjoy the pool once ! It is so small that you cannot swim and people will put things on the few deck chairs available (same on the private beach). The rooms were very noisy and we could hear a loud piping sound every time our neighbor from above was taking a shower.

Overall we found this place quite expensive for a 3/4 stars quality hotel.

We had a good time, but be clear with private tour bookings.

I had a short trip to Bohol last weekend and booked my stay at Amarela for three days. The staff was super friendly and the entire place was a great quiet getaway. It really felt like staying at an old Filipino hacienda. The location was pretty good too. They have their own beach so you can chill there or you can take 15 trike ride to the main beach to eat and get drinks.

The only downside was the boat tour that we took on the second day. The hotel said everything was included in the booking but the boat guys ended up extorting us for more money. They said we needed to pay more money (which we were told was included) to go snorkeling at the sanctuary we were at. We preferred not to get into an argument with the boat guys so we paid the extra 25 bucks to the guide. He then disappeared with one of the boat guys to split the cash. It was pretty obvious and soured our experience a bit. When we mentioned it to the hotel they just said they would look into it and didn’t do much else aside from that.

Either way, we had a good time. Just be sure you are clear with your pricing if you book any tours through them.

We have enjoyed our stay at the Amarela !

The first thing we liked is that the hotel has a personal character and atmosphere compared with a couple of other resorts in Panglao that we have visited later on during the week.
The room we reserved ,the Samia, was very nice and had a great view . The beach is easy to reach just a short walk down and it is very quiet . You can relax , go for swimming in the morning and enjoy walking in the afternoon , being low tide period , looking for shells and star fishes... so many !
The staff at the hotel is very attentive and always ready to help , they make the difference indeed.. you get good feelings !
We had dinner once at the restaurant and we had indeed a good dinner . We went out the other nights exploring other restaurants in the Alona beach area, it is easy , you just ask the hotel reception to call a tricycle, a motorbike taxi very convenient for short distances . Try it !
Breakfast at hotel is simple but overall quite good you can order your own eggs and the rest . The breakfast is served on a very nice terrace with a great view... a plus.
Recommended then the snorkeling excursion at the Balicasag island sanctuary , go also for the turtles and the corals to see the best part of the place , you pay an extra to the local guide on the island ( they are going to ask you ) but definitely worthwhile.
We have been in fact swimming together with a few very amicable turtles and then seen a very very nice reef with so many fishes .

Great spot on Panglao

We stayed here while we were touring Bohol. This is a great resort in Panglao.

The staff is some of the best I’ve experienced - they were all very helpful.

The restaurant is great. We tried breakfast and dinners. They have local dishes and also options for those that want to stick to waffles. Pizza for dinner - OK. you need to try the calamansi juice and Turon dessert.

The rooms were great - good quality amenities. Ours had an ocean view over the tree tops. Bathrooms were great and had hot water. Great AC as well.

The beach is a walk past the pool and a few more steps past where they give massages. Pink sand - lots of coral and starfish. It is shallow quite far out.
