Great Location, needs a few improvements

My family and I stayed at the Aliante Hotel and Casino for a nearby school activity. This was our first time staying here; we have heard great things about the Aliante from others who have stayed here before. We unfortunately, did not have the same great experience that others have told us about the Aliante. We arrived at the hotel early; I requested the opportunity to check in early. A room was available for us to check in early, which was great since we have been traveling through the night. The customer service staff said that she would be waiving the early check in fee! Great!!! Unfortunately, at check out, we were charged the early check in fee… I tried explaining that the early check in fee was waived? But there was no note in our file. The fee was not a lot and I paid it, but it was a bummer since I was told that it would be waived. Check in went smoothly and we were able to check into our room. Then I notice a note on the table from the hotel that there would be no water from 12:00pm to 4:00pm for the next three days?!?!? We had outdoor activities during the morning into the early afternoon; then off to evening activities. During check in, we were not told of any water outages! I thought maybe I was reading the note wrong and did not think that much of it. I figured a hotel would not shut off water during the hottest part of the day. Wrong! The next day, water was off! It was 108 degrees by noon. We were ALL hot and sweaty and we had nowhere to shower, let alone flush the toilet. I called the Front Desk to ask about alternatives, but no one picked up the phone. I went downstairs to talk to customer service and asked about alternatives, maybe a local gym or a nearby sister hotel where we could use a bathroom. I was advised that there were no alternatives. Water was off in the entire hotel. So we called around to other friends who were staying in other hotels to ask if we can use their showers. That was embarrassing for us, but we had no choice. In the end, the water was off for 2 days only and we were refund our resort fee for 2 days. I understand that maintenance/repairs has to be done. But could it be done during the middle of the night? Give us buckets to save water and take a bucket bath!?!? Notice during check in and even an email before we arrived would have been appreciated so guest can make alternative arrangements.
Our room was clean, comfortable and roomy. Equipped with a mini refrigerator, unfortunately the refrigerator never really worked. I adjusted the thermostat to max cold, but the temperature was never cold. I could not even keep milk in the refrigerator, in fear that the milk would sour. Luckily, I had a cooler, filled it with ice and used that to keep our milk and water cold.
During our stay, we were able to use the gym. Great gym! Very roomy, has everything you need to get a good cardio work out and use their weights for a good strength training. Unfortunately, the disinfectant wipes dispenser was empty. I could not wipe down machines before or after I use the equipment. The water dispenser was also empty; probably the only water people can find in the hotel during 12:00 to 4:00pm, LOL. We called the operator, hoping to ask for wipes and water. Unfortunately, no one answered the phone again.
We decided to have dinner in the buffet one night. We had a large party of about 20. The staff was very accommodating and got us in, with very little wait. As we walked in, I notice that a piece of bread was dropped on the floor. Someone stepped on it and was all over the place. Then a few other people stepped on it and spread even more… The whole time we were there eating, that bread was getting stepped on constantly and no one bothered to sweep it up…
I am really trying to like the hotel because of its location. The staff is great and very friendly. The valet guys would run over to the door opener for us every time we came in. The security staff was always smiling when we came in; we have no problem with staff whatsoever. Our stay was riddled with inconveniences and small issues that made our stay not as enjoyable as it could have been.
