How to Get There
Lovely hotel in great location. Came here for business meetings but impressed. Nice food. Great service. Amazing views of water from all directions. Nice rooms with modern amenities despite historic building for hotel. Definitely recommended either as business meeting hotel or especially for couples for nice getaway. Also dog friendly, spa etc.
Driving to Portland Maine and stopped here for a quick cup of chowder. The food was great but man, what a neat place to just walk around in. Frescos on the ceilings in parts, ornate woodwork, a real back-in-time charmer. Going back to stay longer next year. Real top-drawer.
My first visit to NH I was really impressed when we turned the corner and saw the hotel. That impression changed when I asked for a blanket for the bed and I was brought a thin, small piece of material that would barely cover a footstool. The a/c was on and had a LOUD roaring noise so we turned it off and when opening the windows discovered that there were NO SCREENS, we were on the 4th floor! Another safety issue!! Closed the windows and the top window wouldn't close all the way because the locks were broken! The hair dryer vent was so clogged with lint, it was obivious it had never been cleaned, a clear fire hazard! I cleaned it! When checking in we were told a room on the third floor offered snacks, drinks etc., for us because my hubby is Titanium lifetime member, we went there after dinner and it was empty! Checked the next morning and was told it was closed for the "season" We had dinner in the lounge and the flat bread pizza was super good and the staff, friendly and helpful, also in the dining area the staff is awesome and food okay. Love the back porch area, especially since it poured rain the full day we were there. A little attention to the small details would have gotten a better star rating from me.
