How to Get There
I stayed at the hotel this weekend as a couples getaway. We do this almost every year for the past few years here. Unfortunately, the outdoor hot tub was not open. It was a grey stay and well decorated for the holidays. But it was the same decor as last year so an update would be welcomed. My room was nice, had some character and the shower was THE BEST. Breakfast inthe hotel was good and well prices but the wait was looooong. But there were some Christmas events happening so everything’s crowded. I do recommend this hotel.
We had an absolutely awful experience at this hotel this evening — a hotel that we’ve always loved and have been staying at a couple of times a year for 7+ years. But we will never return.
We booked a family night for tonight in *August* — this is a tradition for our family; we go to a tree farm, cut down our tree and then stay at the hotel for the night, eating at the restaurant, swimming in their pool and taking in the ambiance. However, she. We showed up tonight, late, hungry and dirty from the tree farm and looking forward to a shower and yummy “fancy” dinner, we were told that they’d overbooked and had given our room to someone else. They hadn’t contacted us in any way at all; it was just a shrug and a “sorry”. The only alternate they offered was a stay at a nearby Residence Inn without a pool, restaurant or any of the aforementioned ambiance. When I suggested another hotel with a pool and told them we’d pay the difference between the rooms, they told us that they wouldn’t do that either.
I wish I could give this place no stars; so much for being good to loyal customers.i am currently driving to the Cliff House with a weeping 6 and 9 year old in the back. They officially ruined one of the nights my two little ones look forward to the most all year.
Booked hotel after visit to UNH. Gorgeous site, decorated for the holiday season. Given location surrounded by water, we could only imagine how beautiful it would be in summer. Only complaint: unbelievably slow service at in-house restaurant Salt. Need to staff up for busy weekends.
We stayed at the main inn for 2 nights on the weekend of 11/3. We’ve been here before, and have always loved the location and the hotel itself. Just one minor thing continues to irk me, prompting me to write this review 3 weeks later. Every other hotel we’ve stayed at over the past few years offers free coffee and tea in the mornings and / or the afternoon. It’s a simple gesture that is convenient and appreciated by guests. The Wentworth does not do this. In fact, on the morning of 11/3 while waiting for the rest of my family to come down to breakfast, I asked where I could get a cup of coffee. The host at the restaurant was nice enough to get me a coffee from behind the bar….. and then write me up for a $3 charge! So here I am, with a group of 12 family and friends, paying for expensive rooms and expensive meals at the hotel, and I can’t get cup of coffee! I know the room has coffee makers, but, no big deal, not a deal breaker by any means, but a little cheesy. It would have been a nice touch if the hotel had coffee out for guests in the mornings.
Regardless, we’ll be back!
We traveled with extended family for the Thanksgiving buffet, which was superb. The service, food quality and selection and entire experience were truly special. The lounge and restaurant areas are cozy. The indoor pool, hot tub and spa were all fantastic. Our room on the 4th floor was beautiful and spacious with a great view of the harbor. We could not have asked for a better experience. We loved it and will be back for sure.
