A Great Place to Relax in Alentejo
Reviewed 19 hours ago

On our recent trip to Portugal, my wife and I spent four nights at the L'And Vineyards resort in Montemor-o-Novo in the Alentejo. The hospitality and service were excellent and the suites large and comfortable, with an outdoor fireplace by the front door and a plunge pool in an inner courtyard. The setting is very pleasant with its graceful white poplar trees waving in the wind and a large pond used to store water for irrigation in the background. In the distance, you can see the remains of the hilltop castelo in Montemor-o-Novo that dates back to the thirteenth century. The resort also has a Michelin starred restaurant that offers two choices of tasting menu. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and had the less extensive of the two, which turned out to be a series of delicious, nicely prepared and presented small plates that provided more than enough to eat, and at a price that was surprisingly reasonable! If you're looking for someplace to relax and unwind, L'And Vineyards is definitely worth considering. The only thing that kept us from giving L'And Vineyards an even higher rating is the lack of some practical features, such as towel bars and reading lamps.

Nice and relaxed

Very beautiful and relaxed resort. Comfortable and spacious villas. The pool area was ready any time for the guests. Amazing breakfast (try the honey for sure) and very harmonic enviroment.
The staff was very polite and profesional. Showing and explaining us everything regarding the resort and their amenities. Even if the fireplace was not ready when we requested (it was our fault tho as we didnt mention our vila before leaving for dinner), they sent someone immediately once we called. That was an amazing gesture!!!
Although, i have to mention that the wifi signal was weak in our villa (number18), making sort of difficult working online. Also some small details (the trash bin in the bathrood and that there were only 3 chairs for a villa of 4 guests) was not in the conditions i was expecting for a reasort like this. I mean, it gives the sensation of a high quality and luxurious servise (an employee came to be sure that the bed was ready) so these small details should have been thought.
For sure i recommend it to every wine lover who visits portugal and want to have an amazing time testing local eco wines!!

Not worth the money!

Stayed in one of their villas for the weekend with my family and it was not up to the part. For the price paid the conditions were unacceptable. I would have to say that the maintenance staff is in great need of improvement. The pool was not prepared for our arrival as the water was very dirty and turbid.. One of the rooms got flooded when we tried to take a shower due to a closed drain. The TV was not set up correctly and had to be re-installed by us upon arrival. The outdoor patio furniture was crumbling and in desperate need of renovation. The list goes on and on ...
I would strongly advice anyone thinking of spending some time at this hotel to consider other establishments in the area with a much better price-quality ratio.

We had booked a suite and were pleasantly surprised by the size and comfortable luxury of our room. We had some problems due to the fact that the hotel is in the country side, between the vineyards, but thanks to the efficiency and quick response of the staff everything was sorted out in no time. Many thanks!
The first night we had dinner in the restaurant, which was absolutely delicious, of very high standards. We loved all 8 courses! The meals we had in the wine bar and on the terrace (salads, cheese and presunto platters) were very good too.
We enjoyed our last night in front of a lovely fire on our own terrace. What more does one want?? We will certainly return to this beautiful hotel!

Landmark in need of refinishing

This is a unique, almost magical, place, that captures the essence of southern inland Portugal (Alentejo). Outstanding by any chosen standard, tasteful to the point of being educational no matter how knowledgeable you consider yourself. Unbelievable dinner, breakfast, wine tastings, ........Indoor and outdoor pools, in which you feel like you’re bathing in mineral water (no chlorine or other smelll, only the freshness of water......).
HOWEVER: this is to the management........A) do not let this place go down for lack of maintenance outdoor and indoor. Wood paint chipped, wall paint cracking, grass growing in gaps, ......B) don’t be shy to discipline noisy/rude guests (in our degustation menu dinner, we had a couple next to our table obsessed by loud-hearing the news on their cell phones). Keep it up otherwise, the new chef is doing very well.......(!!!).
