The Lowdown

You don’t have to be an avid My Big Fat Greek Wedding fan to know that Greeks take family and good hospitality seriously. Despite growing in size from just 40 rooms to more than a hundred, Delfinia Hotel & Bungalows, one of the first hotels to be built on the island, retains its welcoming charm.
Bed down here and you can expect a traditional village-style design with typically blue shutters concealing classic wooden furnishings, as well as modern luxuries such as air conditioning and satellite television. Traditional cooking techniques are also used in the hotel’s restaurant and tavern to make the most of the local ingredients that include Lesvos’ own olive oil. To appreciate the rest of what the island has to offer, you’ll find walking and hiking trails to the Petrified Forest and Mithymna castle also nearby, plus Molyvos Beach less than 150 metres away.

Probably the best hotel at Molyvos

Very nice hotel. Great sea view. Very good breakfast and very friendly staff. You can't get better. Nice walk to the center of Molyvos but only in the evening it is a bit difficult because there are no street lights. You can take a taxi as it is cheap.

If you need WiFi, move on!

Delfinia’s splendor days must have been in the 90’s but those were the days, my friend! it’s not a catastrophe but the furniture is a bit run-down and the decoration style outdated – no vintage charm though. If it wasn’t for the friendly staff in the restaurant and the cleaning staff, it would be awful.

THE WORST IS THE INTERNET CONNECTION THOUGH. If WiFi is important to you or your kids, you’d better to choose another hotel because there are big areas in the hotel, especially the bungalow area, where the wireless network is seriously under-dimensioned. The network could not be seen in my mobile or in my lap top, or it could be seen but only with one bar. During my 14 days, I never could connect to the Internet in order to run basic errands like checking out e-mail or using Whatsapp

When I after a week said to the manager that the solution was not “to call the Internet provider” as he said they did but install some routers in the one-hectare bungalow area, he almost got offended, said that I was putting him under press, that I was being mean.

Great holiday in a beautiful garden!

We have spent a wonderful week of holiday in Aug 2019. My memories: a fabulous location, offering a great view to the town of Molyvos and its castle, the beautiful garden that surrounds the bungalows, the excellent staff service (Dora is the best!) and the beach – always clean, with free sunbeds under the trees.
The food at hotel’s restaurant (pool restaurant) was very good with reasonable prices, we always had our lunch there.
The room was clean & quite spacious, the cleaning staff was friendly and helpful, the bathroom was not fancy but functional.
The breakfast offers a good selection of food and is coupled with a fabulous view on the beach from the restaurant’s terrace.
Tips: 1. select bungalows instead of a room in the main hotel building. Staying on the room’s terrace in their garden is great, listening to the cicadas’s song. We stayed at ground floor instead of 1st floor, and I believe was a good idea – it was less hot.
2. use insect repellent against mosquitoes. I had bought one (Korres) from a local Pharmacy and was very useful.
3. try the local honey (at breakfast or buy from local shops). it has a dark color, with thyme and pines flavor. it has excellent taste and aroma!
