How to Get There
The coach drove down a very steep drive from the main road to Hotel Asterea. From there a golf buggy collected me and we drove through that complex to the smaller Hotel Mlini. Only 4 years old so well decorated and very comfortable The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful .My room 8 was on the ground floor and despite thick curtains there was some light from the lampposts directly outside. Breakfast and dinner were initially buffets with a varied and generous selection to choose from. The last few night dinner was ' a la carte' when the menu was more specific and all the food was beautifully prepared. All the facilities at the Hotel Asterea were available nearby as was the harbour with a variety of boat trips up and down the coast to Dubrovnik and Cavtat etc.
The hotel is in a heavenly location, right on the sea front and one minute away from the tiny harbour where you catch the ferries. The hotel itself is lovely with a bright airy interior, comfortable lobby and pleasant restaurant. All the rooms face the sea and have a balcony. Ours was at the end of the third floor and it had an uninterrupted view across the bay. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of choice and all delicious. As well as the buffet there was a menu that you could choose from if you wanted freshly made pancakes, french toast etc. The hotel surroundings are lovely-a pebbly beach, stream with a small waterfall, beautiful shady trees and a terrace with a ladder down into the sea. All the staff were friendly and helpful. This was the perfect place for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with easy access to Dubrovnik and Cavtat using public transport. Highly recommended!
Stayed here for the last week of the season as the hotel closed on 31st October.
Did a lot of research before picking this hotel over several others spread across Europe
mainly due to the high reviews on this site. Anyway we were certainly not disappointed as this was a great modern hotel in a fab location right by the harbour. We had room 06 on the ground floor which was very clean, modern and spotless a bit like a Marriot in the UK. Staff were great and nothing was too much trouble, any issues were dealt with straight away. Food was good both at breakfast and the evening meal. As the hotel emptied during the week they scrapped the evening buffet and gave us a menu to choose whatever we fancied for the final four nights. Also the out door pool had an abundance of spare sun beds. For walks you could go around the bay to the Sheraton and the next bay for the five war damaged hotels from the 1990s which you could walk around inside if you wished. Visited Dubrovnik twice by boat (100 Kuna about £12.50) and Savtat same price and both very photogenic. It's a very quiet area around the hotel but that is just what we wanted. In Savtat there was a good supermarket where items were a bit cheaper than in the UK. As for the weather it was 73-75 degrees with blue skies for the whole week but not always like this at the end of October. Our thanks to the two ladies in the restaurant Catarina and Mariana? who looked after us so well.
