Terrific Hotel

Awesome place. Rooms were very comfy with gorgeous patios over looking the ocean. The staff is terrific and super friendly. This is definitely the nicest hotel in Mazunte. The pool is great and so is the hammock area on the side of the cliff.

We stayed here for 4 nights after reading the reviews and we were completely impressed by the quality of our experience. The owners were welcoming, helpful and very attentive. The views are spectacular and the room was clean and comfortable. The food was exquisite and seafood bought fresh daily. The hotel is within walking distance of the Pueblos of Mazunte and San Augustinillo. Very highly recommended and we will definitely return.

Your Own Private Paradise

Do you know when you have the highest expectation for something you're really looking forward to...and it's exceeded in every way?? That was our experience at Zoa. It's a magnificent boutique hotel of only 5 private cabanas. Cabana 1 is beautiful, but every cabana is perfect, secluded, luxuriously accommodated, and kept pristine during your stay. Every detail at Zoa is meticulously thought of and tasteful. The entire staff, from the managers to groundskeepers, were courteous and wonderful. Once you walk into Zoa, the dream begins. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is stunning, in the day and at night. The private restaurant is one of the best I've ever experienced anywhere. All the food is fresh, local, and delectable. The drinks are perfect. There is a private beach with private chairs. A zen garden of hammocks. Multiple sun decks to tan, read, relax, dip in the pool, and lay out. You really should leave the hotel at some point, because the town is charming and great. But you'll want to hurry back to your own private paradise. And who can blame you? It's perfect.

Relaxing and worry free

My husband and I stayed at ZOA March 10-17, 2018. My husband and I are an active 50ish couple. We were in Cabana 1 which has the best view of the ocean as you can see the coastline north and south. We had dinner under the stars at the hotel on our first night which was lovely. Night skies are amazing in Mazunte. Food is very good at the hotel and probably better than anywhere in either town. ZOA is located in between the towns of Mazunte and San Agustinillo, and you can walk to either easily. It took us a few days to find our groove so here are my general tips for the area. The mosquitos come out at night so bring some deet spray. The sun sets at 6:30 and rises around 6:15. We were in bed early and up with the sun but breakfast at ZOA isn't served until 8:30. Restaurants in the towns really don't open until then either. Adjust accordingly. If you go into town and don't speak Spanish a translation book will be helpful. Carlos the manager does speak english at the hotel. He was always available for us. You can snorkel right from the rock beach at the hotel if you bring your own gear. The snorkeling from the hotel was better than from the local beaches. The hotel organized a few events. They had an outdoor movie night, yoga, and dinner under the stars. The grounds are stunning so you can't go wrong if you never leave the hotel. And the staff are very professional and friendly. 5/5.

True paradise

My fiancé and I spent 3 nights at the zoa hotel. Upon arrival, our expectations were quickly exceeded. When we stepped in to the “secret hotel” we were instantly greeted by Carlos, the manager (not to be confused by the amazing Chef Carlos). Carlos handed us fresh cold towels and a cold drink (much needed after an hour in a taxi). They led us to our room, cabana #1 which was absolutely gorgeous. We had views of the entire property, as well as the beautiful ocean. The hammock was pretty sweet too! The room was clean, had AC, and you could hear the waves of the ocean below. I’ve traveled far and wide, and this was by far the most beautiful and serene hotel I have ever stayed at. Plus... no kids allowed which made for a nice romantic getaway (especially for a teacher!) While Mazunte itself is beautiful.... we literally had no reason to leave the hotel. For three days we enjoyed the grounds of the Zoa, lounged by the infinity pool, read in the hammocks, are and drank, and got massages. What more could you ask for for a vacation?

The food was amazing, Chef Carlos prepared fresh seafood and other dishes daily. He did not disappoint. Only thing is, if you like to drink (as we do) cocktails and wine are fairly pricey, even though they were fresh and delicious! Stick to Victoria!

This gem of a hotel is pure paradise. There are only 5 cabanas so there were no more than 10 people there throughout our stay. The staff is caring and helpful. We were lucky to stay there when the owners family was there , and they truly welcomed us as “family”. The owners, Adrianna and Paco, as well as manager Carlos and the rest of the staff were friendly and worked hard to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The saying “mi casa es su casa” is true for the Zoa. Don’t forget your bug spray!
