How to Get There
I booked a room here for the JS Prom of my son but the school moved to another hotel (which I later realized that it was a good decision). Since I can't refund the advance payment, we were allowed to rebook it within this month. My daughter and mom used it and find some staff rude especially in the front desk and pool area. They are distinctly pleasant to foreigners but not in Filipinos. Also they will ask you to pay parking fees before advising that you can have it validated to be free.
We have been to different countries and stayed to different 4-5 hotels - UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), US, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, China, Seoul, Hongkong, Macau, Armenia, Georgia, Montenegro, etc. but it was my first time to experience a 5 star hotel not providing SPOON and FORK for guest unless you ordered food from the hotel. Seriously???! Do you expect your guest to bring their personal spoon and fork if they prefer to buy food outside the hotel and eat it in their room?
First of all, the Spiral restaurant is excellent, but i have reviewed this previously in a separate review, so no marks there.
Hotel facilities are good, but looking a little tired now and in need of an update. Pool area is nice, but all other facilities are of no interest to us. All-in-all its a very pleasant hotel, with a price tag to match. In all honesty Sofitel Manila offers average to less than average value for money.'
I was asked if had any special requests when booking, it was stated that if possible they would accommodate, I had a very simple request that was not performed (fair enough), but more importantly, Sofitel did not bother to acknowledge the request and politely refuse. Insincere gestures like this are just plain rude. If you just don't care about your customers then thats OK, but don't pretend you care then don't bother to try when someone takes you up on your offer.
I was very irked when it came to check-in. I was emailed prior to arriving to perform on on-line check-in which i did, the key will be ready for collection on arrival - no need to wait was the promise. I was very irritated when i arrived at the dedicated on-line check-in and found that i still had to go to the rigmarole of waiting, providing ID & Credit cards, signing paperwork etc, and the final joke is i watched them make the keycard in front of me - it wasn't even ready. I asked an explanation why this way the case and an as promised and got a typically cowardly non-answer and insincere apology. Very poor Sofitel. Very poor indeed. I have stayed at Sofitel's around the world and I expect better and know that you can perform better.
In summary, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you are in town, but you will probably have a better overnight stay elsewhere in Manila and will get better service for sure.
We booked the Sofitel in Manila because of its proximity to the airport. We didn’t really feel like going downtown.
Upon arrival we decided to book the buffet dinner.
Usually we are not so into all you can eat buffets but this one was spectacular. Fresh ingredients, an incredible choice of foods (Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Indian, etc). There was even a walk-in cheese chamber. By far the best buffet we have seen. Also the Service was excellent.
We can only recommend this place! It’s worth every cent.
Probably the best Sunday buffet lunch you can get in Manila. Everything you want is there but a big area. Got lost once . Right by Manila bay. Lovely. They shouldn't try cutting corners by turning off the aircon 40 minutes before the 3pm finish though.
If you want luxury and child-friendly hotel this is the best option for you.
The staffs, room, service and breakfast is great!
My kids loved the pool (though a little too cold) and the playground.
It is also good to chill at the poolside and bar facing the Bay!
Our room is Club Luxury Room, so we get enjoy the lounge at Club Millesime where We get to enjoy light snacks and refreshments during our whole stay! It’s a value for your money! Our room had the best view also where u get to enjoy sunset by balcony.
I will definitely come back here again!
