Sofitel La Reserva Cardales
What We Love
- Rate includes buffet breakfast
- One-of-a-kind, resort-style complex (there are very few like it in Argentina)
- Out-of-town location means more square feet for your buck than in Buenos Aires
- Unwinding in one of the three pools, spa or bar area
- The size of the property means guests can avoid one another just as easily as they can mingle
- The Argentine capital is an hour away by car or taxi
What To Know
- This is a family-friendly resort
- Too far from Buenos Aires to make daily trips practical
- Avoid the January and February summer high season if you don’t like big crowds around the pools
- Bring what you need with you, as it’s a long way to the nearest pharmacy and stores
- Take particular care if you’re driving here yourself; reckless driving on this route is all too common
- Pair with a city getaway in Buenos Aires

How to Get There
Rooms are spacious, everything is working, nice amenities. Food was okay. There is an artificial lake which I didn't get to use due to my own constraints. The settings is a bit "Truman Show"-like, all kind of made up ... But nice nevertheless.
my husband and I wanted a weekend away from everything, pampering ourselves in luxury and SPA treatments.
On arrival we were given a Cabana on front of the lagune, away from the mainbuilding, number 801.
There was a toilet just as you enter, so we opened that door, and very quickly shut it again, aside from the cold, refrigerator temperature, it was so smelly, obviously the entire sewer system of the resort was running right below that toilet.
so back in our luxuious Cabana, it had a dark wooden floor, as you can see in the photos attached, but it was grubby and stained like it was used a a kindergarden playground, there was a sofa in the middle of the room, which would have been right at home in the worst motel you would find anywhere, dirty and stained and falling down in the middle, so more than well used.
Then we sat down on the bed and looked at the view at the laguna, which was very nice, but then we noticed that the curtains were moving, so we looked at the door and icecold air was streaming in, so we put the heating on the wall themostat at 30 degr. C, max, as it was 14 degrees in the room, it quickly became clear that there was something wrong with the heating so I called for a technician, who came quite quickly, and measured the heating coming out, with a heat gun and he could tell us the heating was coming and in 50 minutes the room would be the desired temperature.
After an hour it became clear that it would not get any warmer, so I called the recception and told them to send a Manager as we could not stay in this room, we were still in our overcoats!
So the House keeping Manager Mr. Pablo Gandini came, and he agreed with our findings, and would find us a better room in the mainbuilding within 1-1,5 hour, we told him we had a SPA appointment at 6 pm, but that he would have it ready before that, but when 1730 came and still no sign of the new room or Manager, we started walking to the SPA area, planning to change there, but, when we arrived at that area we were told by the receptionist that they had no lockers...
so that was the end of that, but then the Manager appeared and he took us to our new room, which was larger and beter fitted, but still cold, nevertheless we changed and went to our SPA appointment.
On our return we went to use the elevator, but it had broken down, so we had to walk a very long way in bathrope and slippers to another which worked, but when I looked at the inspection certificate, you can see ( photo attached ) that it was last inspected in April.
We requested 3 times a manual heater, as the room temperature would not go above 17 degrees even if the heater was put at 30, and finally that arrived.
This solved the 2 mainrooms, but not the very large marble bathroom, which had a very nice Jacuzzi installed, which we were however prevented from taking advantage of as the temperature was 11 degrees in the bathroom, and had no heating!
Well that brought, we thought a very long day to the end, and we went along to the very exclusive restaurant in the hotel Le Lac, we got a table by the window to enjoy the view, but that was impossible because of the cold, another much younger couple sat down 30 seconds and got up and went to another table far away from the window, now we had to go back to our room and pick up our overcoats, again, and bring them with us to the restaurant, so we started ordering and eating with overcoats, finally after about 1 hour it was pleasently warm.
After the dinner we looked in at the Piano bar, but that was abandoned, no doubt due to the cold, so we just went to bed, and after an early breakfast, we checked out, never to return.
This hotel is extremely poorly managed and run families with kids may enjoy this, but asd it is VERY pricey, there are so many other places to stay at much more reasonable prices.
Perfect for a long weekend. Sofitel La Reserva Cardales is located near Capital Federal you can go driving and will enjoy the location, activities, food and service. The rooms are huge and all the hotel is well decorated. If you are looking for a place nearby for relax, this is the option!!
I was at this hotel for a work seminar, and in short, what worked well: location is ace, rooms are spacious, and the breakfast was second to none
on what could improve: the rooms are dated, especially the bathroom. I had a nice large spa bath but it looked really tatty.
I had a very large balcony but between the motorway noise and the mosquitoes I did not use it extensively
Most of the staff don't speak English or not fluently, and I was lead to believe that there was no ATM in the hotel whereas I found one by happenstance near the spa.
I would not go there for a golf week end or for a holiday but for a work event it was ok
Spent 3 days during a business event, location is nice, the place is gorgeous. Nice construction reflecting well the Sofitel style but slightly under maintained, starting to show some aging elements. Nice people, overall nice experience, a bit of approximation in the service level for a Sofitel. Nevertheless a place to be recommended.
