How to Get There
My family with 2 school going kids stayed at the Ocean Wing that came with a King size bed and a sofa bed. The view from our room was fabulous. It faced the pool as well as the beautiful view of the sea. House keeping did a good job in checking with us daily if we require any change of towels or toiletries as we decline to have our room made up during our 3 nights stay.
We had our breakfast at the club lounge which was more than sufficient even though we heard that the buffet spread had more to offer downstairs. We also enjoyed the family cocktail hour from 4-6pm at the Aqua lounge where small bites, hot food and alcoholic drinks were served. My kids also got to make a 'pizza' at the Aqua lounge. We did not go to the club lounge for the cocktail hour from 5-7pm as kids were not allowed.
The facilities at Shangri la is top notch! It is here that my kids experienced their first snorkeling expereience at the crystal clear beach! They were simply amazed seeing the fishes coming in close contact with them. The hotel offers fish food on certain days of the week so do remember to get some and get ready your camera for some pictures when the fishes flock to you for the food! The pool area was great too and we went there each evening to swim. The kids also enjoyed their time at the adventure zone. Do remember to bring socks and long sleeve shirts if you intend to let your kids play.
All in all, we had wonderful and amazing holiday and we hope to be back there soon again.
This is probably the best 5 star resorts in Cebu hands down.
The 5 days we were there we didn't even need to step out of the hotel as it catered to everything we needed.
The beach was crystal clear, snorkeling was amazing, the jet skies were so much fun. It was 5 days if just fun fun and more fun.
A few recommendations thought, ask to stay at the main wing as the ocean wing seems a bit dated and I think they are about to renovate. Ask for a higher floor as the view of definately worth it.
Since we left the booking to the last minute, I would like to especially thank Ms. Anna Mae from sales who I called and bugged to get us 3 rooms. I had given up all hopes when she called and told us she managed to not only get us a booking but to find us a suite as well. She really made this stay special for us.
It was our 2nd time in shangrila mactan, guess what? We are all disappointed how the staff handle us, from check in up to check out, they think Filipino could not afford in there Hotel, i was excited for breakfast buffet in tides but it vanish like a wind the long line is still exist, they could not find any solution on it.. shangrila mactan in our 1st visit we are all happy and enjoyed but the 2nd time we are all sad, the rooms not so nice, they become more strict that it could choke us, the foods also that i used to enjoyed before is no longer that yummy..the facilities is also a bit of not so nice now except the beach. Before i forgot the waiter will look on you from head to foot.. the looked that says if we can afford to pay out orders or not.. once they sees money there so nice on you waiting for the tip????
