Family-friendly beach resort with four restaurants, a three-tiered infinity pool and traditional Cebuano decor

The Lowdown

With 250 rooms and 40 villas, the sprawling Crimson Resort and Spa, Mactan occupies just shy of 15 acres in popular Lapu-Lapu on the island of Mactan. Family-sized rooms, outfitted in contemporary Asian and custom-made Cebuano furnishings, have oversized baths and either private balconies (for upper-level guests) or verandas (ground floor). Four restaurants and bars offer a choice of Pan-Asian and fusion fare, and 24-hour room service ensures there’s always something to eat. For sun-worshippers, the infinity pool and private beach afford plenty of room to relax, while the Crimzone play offers a variety of outdoor activities for kids.

In the Area

Catch a yoga session at AUM Spa, or try a traditional massage or body treatment in one of 14 therapy rooms. Beyond the property, the island of Mactan offers ample diversions for both nature- and culture-lovers, including the Jungle Cultural Entertainment Center and Mactan Island Aquarium. On nearby Cebu, explore the oldest Spanish settlement of Cebu City: Tour the 16th-century Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, visit Magellan’s cross and browse the native art galleries and showrooms that crowd the downtown area. Your concierge can direct you to the best shops for artwork and furniture pieces to take home.

My family enjoyed our stay with crimson, my children are varied, have a little boy and teenaged girls, all of them had so much fun, would defenitely return for more family bonding and recreation, our stay was worthwhile.

Overall the Crimson is a beautiful oasis on the beach. Beautiful hotel, great rooms, the staff is excellent and goes well out of their way to make sure each guest feels welcome.

The check in process was a little slow and the pool and beach area, while beautiful need more seating.

A2D (Arrival to Departure) Experience
Reviewed 1 day ago

Arrival: Directly booking with the hotel provided me with complimentary transportation (arrival and departure). I felt special when I was provided with a cold bottled water upon arrival at the airport and my own car ride to the hotel.
Checking In: The queue at the concierge checking in is short and delicious welcome drinks are provided. The front desk also discussed all the necessary details for my stay. A hotel staff brought me to my room via a golf cart ride.
Restaurants (Saffron and Azure): Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. But there's a queue for tables at Saffron, especially at the breakfast buffet. For Azure, there's limited choices in the menu.
Pool: Lovely and with attentive staff, but not enough loungers to accommodate all the guests.
Beach: Lovely.
Room Service or Dial 0: Not familiar with the "wine down" suggestion in the welcome letter, it took me a while for them to understand what I was requesting. It also took two calls to request for bottled water. I would also like to suggest an outside table to put used trays/plates on since ants are quick to come.
Room Amenities: Lovely. I also loved the morning info provided at each doorstep. Housekeeping is also efficient.
Checking Out: It took a while for the requested golf cart to arrive. The front desk is efficient. However, there is limited complimentary transportation. While it is free, I was told to wait for 1pm, but my flight is at 2pm. I had to take a Grab ride so I won't miss my flight.
