VIK Gran Hotel Costa del Sol
How to Get There
Stayed in the VIK Gran in February. The location is fantastic, right next to the beach and a few minutes walk to the town centre. The hotel is dated and a throw back to the 70's or 80's and could do with some attention, especially the rooms, bar, communal areas and restaurant. The food was just about ok ish, the staff are friendly ish. I would struggle to recommend this hotel unless you are after a great location.
This is what I wrote to the Hotel Director when we returned from holiday.
We arrived at this hotel on 11th March and left on 18th March. Our accommodation was booked on a half-board basis.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food was such that I only went to breakfast once and twice to lunch. The food was not remotely anything like I am accustomed to from a four-star hotel. The stark reality is that this is wrongly graded as a four-star and is probably only worth a two-star rating.
The restaurant staff seem to be embarrassingly aware of this as it is impossible not to see the amount of uneaten food that clients leave on their plates. However, they ignore it.
The hotel itself is dated and in desperate need of refurbishment in all areas. It has no personality or soul. It is lifeless. I will be writing to my travel agent to advise them against recommending this hotel to their clients and asking for some form of compensation.
The local businesses, bars and restaurants are all aware of the great disappointment of the majority of the hotel guests and are thriving on it.
It is almost tragic that a hotel in a prime location is failing in every aspect of its existence.
I await your response
There were additional issues but I don't want to be sat here forever!
First time here on all inclusive. Food probably the best we have had with this type of holiday. Decent beer on tap - SAN Miguel and wine was ok
The evening bar area is starkly lit and very plain but ok. Didn’t see a turn when we were here but they have them. Room was clean and staff friendly and it’s well situated. Well worth a visit
This is our 5th year staying at the hotel at this time of year. We have always enjoyed our stay as the hotel is really well situated, has everything you need and you get a warm welcome. This year was my friends 50th birthday so I wanted to make it special. The hotel couldn’t have been more helpful. Myself and the hotel were in constant contact in the weeks leading up to our stay (mainly Dafne) and were only too willing to make sure that her room was decorated for the celebrations. On arrival Dafne was not working but credit to the way the hotel operates, Anna was fully aware of who I was and what was planned for my friend. We love our annual stay at the hotel, but this year the staff team made it so memorable. Thank you so much and we will see you again same time next year. I can highly recommend this hotel for its warmth, attention to detail and for being so personable.
Good hotel with happy helpful staff, very enjoyable food and pleasent atmosphere.
Although very queit when we were there the hotel still functioned well. Buffet meals were substituted for menu choice on a couple of lunchtimes and the food served was super. Buffet at breakfast and in the evening was very good, hot and lots of choice.
Public rooms and bedrooms could do with an update but were clean and tidy. Outside spaces were very clean and gardens well kept although the entrance carpark and path did need some repair. There are also some dangerous drops on the way to the pool and pool bar area.
