  • A lovely outdoor pool
  • One of the best restaurants in all of India

I used this hotel 3 times as a base for touring. the service was excellent and my rooms superb. The pool was an oasis in the middle of such a busy city, very good for relaxing after a busy day sightseeing. The breakfasts were excellent.

The Best

We have just stayed 3 nights at the Oberoi whilst touring India. We can honestly say having spent many years touring the world never have we experience such delightful, helpful or attentive staff. Every single member of the Oberoi team was just quite outstanding. The hotel is ideally located for all sightseeing occupying and extremely tranquil and safe environment. The food is absolutely deliciously and the service impeccable. Rooms are very well appointed and well serviced.
We did have one minor issue that was handled in the most highly efficient and thoughtful manner by a number of staff members that went out of their way to make us feel very special.
All in all a fantastic stay at a world class hotel, thank you all.

Gone to dine there with friends but could not

The worst 5 star hotel in Kolkata.
It just has a BRAND NAME. Let me tell you all that don't go on the brand name, go on the experience.
I'll share my experience that i had in Grand today.
We were 2 of us waiting for some of our friends who would join us for dinner tonight. Some staff came and told us to wait outside the hotel, that's still fair enough. I'm sure Coffee shop is opened 24×7 hrs. If any person from outside Cal wants to come and dine at the coffee shop, will they book a table to dine ?
When i told the staff and the manager that we'll wait in the coffee shop if not in the lobby.
Just because MR. SHAH RUKH KHAN is coming to a hotel, you wont allow other guests to enter the hotel ?
Not just enter but tell them to get out !!!
We were waiting for our friends without even uttering a word with lot of decency.
This is not what you expect from a 5 star.
I should file a complain about this rough behaviour by your staff.
This is not how you behave.
That's how if you behave with your guests no one will come.
I suggest no one should go to this hotel.
There are much better 5 stars hotel like ITC SONAR and much cheaper also.
