A charming stay right in the center of Kitzbühel, with breakfast, a welcome drink, a golf discount and more

The Lowdown

The upscale resort of Kitzbühel is Austria’s sporting capital in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps and offers the perfect combination of traditional and modern culture, with some seriously spectacular scenery. The stylish Q! Hotel Maria Theresia boasts contemporary interiors, a luxe spa and close proximity to the boutiques and restaurants that line the town center.
Kitzbühel is best known as an elite ski destination but it shouldn’t be overlooked during the milder months – you can spend action-packed days mountain biking, swimming, playing tennis or hiking in the beautiful mountains and forests. The nearby Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course is the best in the area, and there are three other clubs within easy reach if you want the luxury of choice.

No vegetarian food

Despite being informed of my request for vegetarian food weeks before, the hotel said they were not expecting it and the manager told me I could eat just the vegetables. During the week I was offered cabbage pie with hardly any cabbage in it and battered cauliflower which was horrible. ( the manager told me it was battered mushrooms) The worst food I’ve ever had and believe me, that’s saying something over 33 years of being a vegetarian! So steer clear fellow vegetarians and if you’re vegan don’t even think about it !!! Also there was only one dessert a night. Take it or leave it ! Not 4 star standard.

An excellent choice in Kitzbuhel

I am a little bit for my review, I was in Kitzbuhel last year (January 2018) and I felt in love with this hotel.
The location is super good, breakfast it is one of the bests that I have had.
And Diana Tomic, the front office manager was amazing since the time that we made our reservation until the time we arrived there. She helped us with everything that we needed.

Good hotel, good location

Good hotel, good location

We stayed here for a week in mid-March 2019 with friends, and we all enjoyed our stay.

The location is good – the ski gondola is a 5 minute walk up a gentle hill, and the lovely town centre is just a few minutes away (turn right as you exit the hotel).

Our (junior suite) room (209) was large, overlooking the front of the hotel, with a balcony and seats outside, and with a nice bathroom including shower over bath.

The room was comfortable enough, although with only one overhead light in the large main room we found it hard to see things inside the large wardrobe from time to time. There are enough power points to charge multiple devices, but no fridge, or kettle.

We did not find the room noisy, although we did hear a cockerel each morning opposite, but it did not disturb us.

Reception is staffed 24 hours, and we found all reception staff to be friendly and helpful.
We stayed half board so had breakfast and dinner in the dining area near reception.

Breakfast has a good choice (including hot eggs, bacon, sausages etc) as well as a good selection of cereals, cheese, meats, yoghurt etc.

Dinner comprised three courses with a choice of starters and main courses. The food was good to OK, some dishes better than others. Wine can be ordered from the waiters from a wine list, and is reasonably priced for Kitzbuhel.

Service is (very) prompt from efficient waiting staff (not all of whom smile…), and what seemed to us to be a very quick turnaround (probably wise if those skiing want to eat early and sleep). There is a large bar area off reception with waiting service, and comfortable seats.

I read – but dismissed before I even got there - some recent reviews from a group with children who complained that the hotel did not accommodate the wishes of their little princes and princesses who were running amok throughout the hotel (perhaps it was their first time in a hotel?). Good, in my view!

As I expected, none of the bad things in those reviews were experienced during our stay, I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Tips: the wifi speed is fine – the nearest supermarket is a few minutes away, turn right out of the hotel, keep walking go through the old stone arch, you’ll see it on the right – there are also several ATMs along that route, as well as several nice cafes, pizza place.
