East Thorne Yurts
What We Love
- Two, three or four nights of glamping in a spacious yurt with a cosy log burning stoveWaking to the sound of chirping birds and the smell of bacon and eggs cooking on the stove
- Converting the anti-campers into outdoor-loving glampers
- Dining on fresh seafood in nearby Padstow
What To Know
- Hosts Naomi and Adam are on hand to help with anything you might need
- Yurts are roomy and comfortable, temp-wise, thanks to wood stoves
- Head to the fire pit each night to toast a marshmallow or two
- The shower block is clean and always has hot water
Located near a stretch of Britain’s most captivating coastline, the yurts at East Thorne lie just a few miles north of Bude in Cornwall. While comfort and luxury are, for some, unusual words to associate with camping, they sum up this retreat rather well. Sustainably sourced from Mongolia and spruced up with bespoke British design, East Thorne’s nine yurts are the real deal.
Putting their heart and soul into the retreat, the Black family have added finishing touches such as modern bathroom facilities, comfortable handmade beds and log burning stoves, to make it the perfect camping getaway for their guests. Cosy when it’s chilly and airy when the sun shines, we’re confident that even the anti-camping contingent will come around to this type of refined al fresco accommodation. You can even arrange delivery of a hamper filled with seasonal local produce, as well as your favourite red or chilled white, in time for your arrival.
How to Get There
We arrived after almost a 5 hour journey to the most picturesque place we could’ve hoped for.
We were greeted by Bryn who was just lovely, she showed us where to find things and gave us the relevant phone numbers should we need anything but couldn’t see anyone on site. Around reception was freshly grown vegetables and eggs laid on site which you could just make a donation for.
We walked into the set back roundhouse which was just beautifully quaint with a steaming hot tub set back near the trees making it really snug.
It was my birthday weekend and we had been left a lovely bottle of prosecco to enjoy which was such a lovely touch along with the already heated hot tub (thanks Bryn!)
Bryn showed us on the Saturday afternoon how to get the fire going after we failed miserably which was really kind of her.
We had the most perfect stay and couldn’t have wished for anything more. We are already planning our next trip back. Thank you so much for making it special!
We got married on 02/11/19 and came down to East Thorne the day after, I can’t tell you how relaxing that place is!! We got a complimentary hamper as we saw them at the wedding fair a few months before, all organic local food which we really enjoyed! Log burning fire, cosy vibes and a lovely quiet location. Just made it a perfect place for us to enjoy our bubble. Can’t wait to return already!
Also visiting in autumn makes it so special, the colours of the trees, crisp autumn mornings in the hot tub is a memory we’ll cherish together. Naomi is fab, always on hand to answer any questions. Don’t hesitate just book!!! So worth it!!!
This was our first visit to East Thorne staying in a roundhouse. Unfortunately we picked a weekend where the weather was awful but despite this we had a great time and it was lovely & cosy.
Thank you Naomi & Adam we will definitely be back.
