Overview

A Cornish glamping break in a four-person yurt in Bude, with handmade beds and log burning stoves

The Lowdown

Located near a stretch of Britain’s most captivating coastline, the yurts at East Thorne lie just a few miles north of Bude in Cornwall. While comfort and luxury are, for some, unusual words to associate with camping, they sum up this retreat rather well. Sustainably sourced from Mongolia and spruced up with bespoke British design, East Thorne’s nine yurts are the real deal.
Putting their heart and soul into the retreat, the Black family have added finishing touches such as modern bathroom facilities, comfortable handmade beds and log burning stoves, to make it the perfect camping getaway for their guests. Cosy when it’s chilly and airy when the sun shines, we’re confident that even the anti-camping contingent will come around to this type of refined al fresco accommodation. You can even arrange delivery of a hamper filled with seasonal local produce, as well as your favourite red or chilled white, in time for your arrival.

The perfect getaway!
Reviewed 2 days ago

Myself, my boyfriend and 2 friends stayed in one of the new roundhouses for 2 nights and we had the best time! In the roundhouse you have everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bathroom is spotless with a lovely powerful shower and the beds are super comfy. At night the roundhouse is super cosy with underfloor heating a log burner and there is an added luxury with a wood fired hot tub outside. We definitely got good use out of this - even in the rain!! Naomi and Adam are so accommodating, we could not have asked for more. Nothing was ever too much and they were always around if you had any questions! There are lots of animals on site from goats, ducks, chickens, dogs etc (we are still contemplating buying one of the puppies!). There is also a little trade shop in reception where people leave food/toiletries from their stay for other people to use which I thought was lovely. 2 nights was not enough for us and we are definitely looking to come back next year!
Thankyou so much Naomi, Adam and kids, it was lovely x

Amazing stay in The Roundhouse!

We stayed in the Roundhouse at East Thorne during the second week of June! All I can say is Wow! Despite having bad weather our stay was absolutely perfect. The roundhouse itself is beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed including board games, blankets, a log burning fire and a well equipped kitchen. We used the log burning hot tub every evening and roasted marshmallows on the fire pit. Our hosts were wonderfull and left us to it for the week however were always on hand if we needed anything. I would particularly reccomend the goose and duck eggs for sale in the on site shop which was also full of other useful items which you could help yourself to if you restocked it later (a great idea and came in very handy when we ran out of hot chocolate)! The location is also perfect for exploring... we did a couple of coastal walks (Sandy Mouth and Clovelly) also theres a couple of vineyards close by which do great wine tours and samples! Thanks again for a lovely time!

Everything we needed.

Great place fully equipped with everything that we needed. Only disappointment was that we wasn’t allowed to use the hot tub.

Greeted by Naomi who explained everything. Like the help yourself to the food left by others then you leave what you don’t want for the next guests.

A beautifully restful stay in this gorgeous retreat

We stayed in The Roundhouse at East Thorne for my boyfriend's birthday treat....and what a treat it was. The Roundhouse is beautiful and tucked away in a corner of the farm with everything you need for a restful stay away. The hot tub was well used and the perfect way to end the evenings. We also used the pizza oven to cook our own pizzas which was good fun too. Naomi and Adam were very helpful but generally left us to ourselves which was perfect. The puppies were a gorgeous added extra too!!!! We would highly recommend and will definitely be back to visit.

Easily the best camping experience ever!

First my family and I stayed here with some friends for the week in the roundhouses. The whole experience can only be described as heavenly. The houses were beautifully set out and the hot tubs were an amazing touch. We then took over the whole campsite for the weekend for my 40th for a huge fancy dress party. Naomi and Adam ensured everything went perfectly. They are such lovely people who really care abut your experience there. Every single person who went has expressed how perfect the weekend was. Whether in a roundhouse, cottage or Yurt everyone loved it especially the kids who had the run of the place because cars are not allowed once you have offloaded. It is very rare to not find one fault on a holiday but I simply can’t. Definitely recommend it and we will definitely be back!
