East Thorne Yurts
What We Love
- Two, three or four nights of glamping in a spacious yurt with a cosy log burning stoveWaking to the sound of chirping birds and the smell of bacon and eggs cooking on the stove
- Converting the anti-campers into outdoor-loving glampers
- Dining on fresh seafood in nearby Padstow
What To Know
- Hosts Naomi and Adam are on hand to help with anything you might need
- Yurts are roomy and comfortable, temp-wise, thanks to wood stoves
- Head to the fire pit each night to toast a marshmallow or two
- The shower block is clean and always has hot water
Located near a stretch of Britain’s most captivating coastline, the yurts at East Thorne lie just a few miles north of Bude in Cornwall. While comfort and luxury are, for some, unusual words to associate with camping, they sum up this retreat rather well. Sustainably sourced from Mongolia and spruced up with bespoke British design, East Thorne’s nine yurts are the real deal.
Putting their heart and soul into the retreat, the Black family have added finishing touches such as modern bathroom facilities, comfortable handmade beds and log burning stoves, to make it the perfect camping getaway for their guests. Cosy when it’s chilly and airy when the sun shines, we’re confident that even the anti-camping contingent will come around to this type of refined al fresco accommodation. You can even arrange delivery of a hamper filled with seasonal local produce, as well as your favourite red or chilled white, in time for your arrival.
How to Get There
We have just got back from our stay in the Roundhouse and we already want to go back! Honestly this place is something else and to top it off Adam and Naomi are two of the most lovely people I’ve ever met.
We booked through their own website and had emails with Naomi about our stay, where she was very helpful.
The Roundhouse itself is incredible. The main room is a good size with underfloor heating and a log fire to keep you warm and snug throughout the stay and plenty of storage. The decor is beautiful. The bathroom is also a good size with a super shower and both rooms are spotless. The outside kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed. The hot tub is the icing on the cake. It was the perfect temperature and lovely to be in, even when it was raining! The two log burners (hot tub and in the main room) are very easy to use, once Adam showed us how!
Nothing was ever too much trouble and both Adam and Naomi who were never to far away to give a helping hand with any problems that we had. The whole place is so well thought out, and such lovely personal touches to make your stay even better, for example a beats pill speaker, ironing board and an array of games to play on your bedside table.
As the break was for a birthday Naomi even arranged for a beautiful cake to be there ready for when we arrived! This was so scrummy and definitely worth it!
We will definitely be coming back and I can highly recommend to anyone. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
We stayed here as a romantic birthday treat at the start of March and it was absolutely incredible - naomi and Adam are so welcoming and the roundhouse has everything you need in it. So many nice touches and surprises inside, to make you feel really cosy and at home. The weather we had was horrific - heavy wind and rain non stop - but our stay wasn’t affected at all and we still used the hot tub every day! An amazing retreat to relax, we’ll definitely be returning!
We had a perfect 3 nights at the Roundhouse in the middle of February. The roundhouse, it's kitchen and outdoor space, including wood fired hot tub are amazing, really couldn't fault anything, there has been so much thought put into the whole set up. We loved it and will definitely plan to return. Thank you
Myself and my fiancée stayed in the roundhouse last Feb, however it was at the time the beast from the east wrecked havoc on the UK. We were practically snowed in. During this stay, we were unable to use the outside facilities due to the extreme cold and snow. Naomi and Adam were however fantastic during this time and even offered us to stay a few extra nights since road travel was almost impossible.
We decided this year to revisit, to get the full experience. It has been as much as a pleasure as last time. The hot tub is great, we spent a lot of time in it this year which made up for not being able to use it last time. We even managed to go to the beach in Bude near the RNLI building (wink wink)this time and explore.
In regards to Naomi and Adam, they are always on hands if they are needed however they do leave you to your privacy which is great. We were awaiting a fresh delivery of towels since we checked in early, during a competitive game of monopoly inside the roundhouse , Naomi attempted to deliver the set of towels however we didn’t hear the knocking on the gate outside. Instead of coming in Naomi returned to the reception and informed me via a text they were in the reception ready for me to collect at my convenience. They do not disturb you during your stay unless needed which is great, professional and quality service.
Top getaway location, the road nearby didn’t bother us. Would definitely return without hesitation in the future.
Thank you for being great hosts.
We stayed at the roundhouse which is a gem, very clean, underfloor heating so even if the weather was not the best our stay was!
Naomi was brilliant and helped me get a birthday cake for my boyfriend.
We enjoyed the hot tub as well, highly recommend the roundhouse :)
