Clean and centrally located, but had a few hiccups

The hotel itself is fairly newly remodeled, so it is clean, just very dark. Not sure why this particular Aloft was designed this way as I have stayed at others that were not the same. The carpet, walls, curtains, everything was very dark... just made you feel drab while you were there. The location is great though, just up the road from the mall and major shopping areas with dining. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because we stayed here for our wedding weekend, and we booked months in advance and they were very much aware of that fact, we had been in contact with someone who helped us book our block of rooms who had assured us that a few special requests would be absolutely accommodated, but once we got there the front desk people had no idea what we were talking about, and it just felt very impersonal.. especially for it being our wedding weekend. If it were just a regular stay I'm sure my view of the situation would have been very different, it was just the events leading up to our stay and what actually ended up happening that made me feel a bit slighted.

Cool features. Well located. I like it!

Nice location close to dining, U of Miami and other spots we visited. The outdoor area is an oasis. Small pool, but cabanas, palm tree shaded area with tables/chairs. Good bar (with especially attentive service), menu has nice variety, friendly staff. Elevators a little slow. Room was well appointed for this level. Door to the bathroom didn't provide complete privacy as it was a slider and no fan in the bathroom to assist with white noise or humidity management. Breakfast service was a little confusing and it's probably just me. There was a menu and we didn't want to order breakfast entrees. There was a buffet-esque cute display but was not clear whether as server was attending or self-serve. My sticky point was trying to watch tv. Their satellite service froze the screen. We waited, restarted, tried to call the front desk. No answer so I went downstairs in pajamas. Was told they were busy but would send someone. We tried again to restart. No luck, went to bed and someone arrived 45 minutes later when we were asleep after 11:00. Guess it's good that followed through, but a solid sleep is good, too. Would reserve again.

Beds are too small

The hotel is very nice a located in a convenient area. I do think the “hotel queen size beds” are just full size beds and not comfy for a couple.
Other than that it’s very nice. The pool area is nicely set up but the bar closes too early.

Pleasantly surprised!

This hotel has the appearance of a European hostel. The front desk staff, especially Betty, were all so helpful and wonderful! We were there because our condo complex was being tented for termites. Our condo association negotiated a great rate with this hotel. Excellent choice! The room was very clean - my husband and I watch Hotel Impossible and now we know what to look for. Great staff, free coffee in the morning and in your room. Loved the little cafe section and choices for snacks. Decent prices. Free abundant parking on premise. Great location! Can't say enough about this hotel. Great pool area and the staff were constantly cleaning the entire area! I only have 2 small negatives...and both deal with the bathroom. The toilet seat is extremely low and the toilet paper holder was BEHIND the toilet bowl. Awkward. Maybe raised seats and adjusted paper holder would be good.

Incredible stay primarily because of the staff

I stayed at this charming hotel because I was getting a small surgery in the area. This staff from the front desk, to random people in the hall who helped mw and I don't even know their actual job, to the breakfast staff. it was amazing. I had a weird smell in my room and they took care of it immediately. Mostly I was impressed with the staff. The rooms a great, a basic quality hotel room, but it was the hospitality that raised it to the next level. Best, Brad
