A great hotel in spite of the unfortunately sewage smell
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed for 8 nights and although the smell of the sewage right next to the hotel punched us in the face when we arrived, gradually we started to appreciate the excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfasts, direct access to swimming pool and to many massage places and restaurants in the vicinity.
Hopefully the sewage/garbage creek problem gets sorted out soon - then it will become a great option in Kamala, especially for families with kids who love the beach and parents who love romantic sunsets. :-)

For $100 You Can Do Better Than This Open Sewer
Reviewed 1 month ago

Give this one a miss--there's a lot better on the North end of the beach for the same price or cheaper.

We stayed here for 4 nights over our Easter break. The hotel is 'nice' but everywhere smells like an open sewer--unless you're in your air conditioned room with the doors closed. The room balcony smells like sewer, the breakfast area smells like sewer and the pool area smells like sewage.

On the 3rd day our air-con stopped working. The staff did try to fix it but couldn't. All they said was "Sorry. Try to open your door." It was 30 degrees C the whole night and the sewage river fumes wafted into our room making it even worse.

I would advise to stay away from this stinker.

Stunning location with only one catch.

Pro:
1. Stunning location by a beach you can swim in.
2. Gorgeous views from the window of the Andaman sea and the sunsets.
3. Remarkable hospitality of the staff- at par with 5 star hotels, at times even better.
4. Amazing massage places nearby.
5. Walking distance from the night market.
6. Many halal food options available.
7. A breakfast served in the room with a huge variety.

Cons:
1. Only one- and this is NOT the hotel’s fault. There is a little canal just behind the hotel, before the beach that runs smelly water which affects the ambience of the hotel. Please request for rooms away from the canal if possible. We were not able to open our terrace doors or eat the breakfast on the terrace or use the hammock.

Overall, if it wasn’t for the little canal in the back, this would be the place I would stay every time I visit Phuket. I sincerely hope that something is done about it because otherwise this is an excellent hotel.

Poo creek
Reviewed 2 months ago

I stayed in kamala at layalina resort March 2019.
Resort — small pool but right on the beach and very quite
RESORT.
Rooms stayed in an upstairs room with terrace ( which we never used as too hot !) .. my preference now would actually be the cheaper rooms with pool access you stil have ocean but not quite as good
Breakfast- sufficient . I think this is a Muslim hotel and therefore no bacon and minimal meats . It is however served to Yr room , eggs on toast most mornings for us . Nice enough.
View - the ocean view is stunning , except you see poo creek as well ( read on !)
Taxi transfer from Phuket airport was about 1000 baht
EXTERNAL
Right out the back of the hotel you have an anundance if restaraunts, tailor makers, 7 elevens . We particularly enjoyed a restaraunt called salt and pepper just to the left of the resort if going onto beach side
MAJOR CON
POO FREAKING CREEK
OMG can the government do something about this ! It is black with sewerage and stinks the whole place out . It actually was making us feel ill. Apparantly they put bio balls in the sewerage , we have read about this and it’s totally ineffective , the sewerage then spues out onto the stunning beach in front of us . I strongly suggest swimming at other end of beach !
All in all a reasonable stay and in by no means the hotels fault

Hotel good, “ poo creek “ not

We stayed for 4 nights March 2019.
The hotel itself was lovely, breakfast served to your room daily, daily cleaning, nice beds, beautiful view
BUT
the smell was horrendous ! There is a creek running straight in front of the hotel which contains ? Raw sewerage treated with bio balls which are not sufficicient, the stench at times is throughout the hotel and horrid. I hope the Kamala govt gets on top of this as assumingly the kamala community need tourists, this is not acceptable.
