Loisium Wine & Spa Resort Südsteiermark
What We Love
- Breakfast and access to the spa are included in the Jetsetter rate
- The vast heated indoor/outdoor pool, which leads from the spa to the great outdoors
- More than 160 wines are stocked on-site, many from local vineyards
- Bathrobes are de rigueur; it's a full-service 15,000-square-foot spa, and no one minds if you're not dressed during the day
- Pets are permitted at an additional cost of $20 per day
What To Know
- A city tax of approximately $1.30 per person, per night, will be collected by the hotel at checkout
- Most signs are in German (especially in the spa). If you don't speak the lingo, you may feel lost in translation
- This is quiet place built that attracts couples and singles. There are no children's facilities
- A car is recommended: Graz is a 40-minute drive, and Vienna is two hours to the north. The nearest train station (Ehrenhausen) is 10 minutes from the resort
- Free WiFi
- Parking On Site
Surrounded by vineyards in a verdant corner of southern Austria with a climate akin to the Mediterranean, Loisium Wine & Spa Resort Südsteiermark is a retreat for gourmets and oenophiles craving creative cuisine, top-notch wine and pampering. The exterior is an architectural wonder: bold, geometrical blocks made from untreated larch wood are stacked Jenga-style next to a giant outdoor pool. Inside, spruce paneling and nude tones keep things stark and sleek, but the look is livened up by inventive light strips, bright orange lampshades and moss green tiling.
Bed and Bath
Neutral and nude are the buzzwords in the guestrooms. Bare white walls are free of artwork, but windows frame awesome views of the surrounding vineyards or forest. Firm platform beds come with mattress toppers and pillow menus, and rooms are equipped with mini-fridges and espresso machines. Petite bathrooms miraculously hold large soaking tubs and glass showers and are stocked with full-size Aveda products. Most bathrooms open out to the bedroom, but privacy curtains provide separation. Each room comes with a bag filled with the unofficial Loisium spa uniform: a fluffy robe and slippers.
The spa is where it all happens at this wellness wonderland. The 15,000-square-foot space is home to several types of sauna, from Finnish to infrared, an indoor/outdoor pool, stadium-style relaxation areas with hanging Balinese loungers, and a long treatment list incorporating products made from locally cultivated grapes. There’s an all-day buffet restaurant on-site, but for posh dining, Wine & Dine by Dominik Stolzer serves innovative à la carte fare, complemented (naturally) by a lengthy wine list. Pop into Vinothek Steiermark before leaving to sip wines from local wineries in one of the tasting rooms. Here you can try before you buy (and at wholesale prices, to boot).
How to Get There
A concept similar to its predecessor in Langenlois, which we have visited a year ago. Stylish architecture set in a picturesque setting of South Styrian wine region. The modern inner design of hotel is great as well. As we have made reservation directly via official web page of the hotel, we (me and my wife) got couple of vouchers upon our arrival (for each person one) – for meal in lobby bar, tasting of two wines in wine shop and for non-alcoholic drink from fridge in the room. We also tried almost all available facilities for relax – different saunas with free refreshment (fresh fruits, flavored waters) in indoor spa & wellness area, heated outdoor pool with excellent view over the picturesque lush green hilly lanscape covered by wineyards. À la carte dinner served on the terrace of restaurant Weinkuchl with beautiful view over the wineyards with sunset in the background was excellent as well. Steak Loisium, rostbraten, whitewine parfait paired with excellent Styrian wines (Sauvignon blanc, Grauburgunder and Weissburgunder) were delicious. Moreover we have appreciated the attitude of waiters as well. As the rain started during the dinner we have been forced to move inside, the staff was very flexible and helped to bring items from the terrace. In general the staff was flexible and helpful. Breakfast was as well great as dinner. Wide choice of cold cuts, cheeses, spreads, vegetables, eggs etc., sweet and gluten-free corners, fresh juices as well as hot drinks. The guests could enjoy all in pleasant stylish environment of restaurant Weinkuchl. Stay in (both) LOISIUM resort(s) is certainly worth it.
It's always a pleasure to return here.
The place relax you in a very special way take into consideration that you are surrounded by vinyards.
Soo, enjoy the wine!!! first off all...
The Spa,with his amazing outdoor pool;
The food and landscape.Wonderfull sunsets in the middle of January...
Great designed-spot in the wine-yards and hills at the Südsteiermark. What made it all a wonderful experience: The house-owned vision was actually realised from each staff-member at each minute during our stay. The wine-nature-wellness-desing and funcion-ensemble worked for me for 100%. I loved the green ceiling-high tiling at the whole spa-area, the white-lightened up and big rooms with walk-in showers and balcony, the whole relaxing-zones as well as the restaurant is just a joy for ones senses. After an e-bike tour criss-crossing the wine-region, the heated outdoor-pool is awaiting you.
Great location where I for sure want to come back.
Nice hotel for couples or business events. Peaceful place, nice nature, polite and friendly staff. Lot of possibilities for companies- seminars, events. Nice experience in spa area, perfect massages with expert masseurs. Vinoteque with top wines from region and whole country. Nice experience! I recomend it warmly.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. We had a beautiful view to the vineyards and the closest small town with its church. The room was very good equipped with lots of wood elements. I took the prestige suit which has huge places. We received extra vouchers to try wines..etc. The wine shop has great atmosphere, but I found the restaurant a little too cold and unfriendly, not just because of equipment but the staff as well. The dinner was good but nothing special. The wellness area is huge and I really loved the heated outside pool. It was great even there’s was -10 degrees outside.
