How to Get There
Marco Polo is my top choice hotel in Davao City. The hotel room is well maintained, the food is exquisite, the service is beyond my expectation. Added to it is the perfect located wherein its in the heart of Davao’s shopping and business district.
I recommend Marco Polo Hotel if you'll stay in Davao. Hotel staffs are very helpful. Specially at the Convention Area staffs who assisted us in our ingress and egress and also the Airport Hotel Shuttle Personnel. Breakfast was also awesome!
What I appreciate about this hotel is its proximity to Aldevinco and Roxas Night Market. I was with my Balikbayan relatives and they were very eager to get pearls. It's an advantage to be just right across Aldevinco, so we didn't have to take a taxi to get there and they could take the time they need since it's just walking distance to the hotel.
The road near the entrance is under construction, so I'm sure that it will get better for later on. The lobby was nice, there's a coffee shop in case you feel like lounging with your friends/family in the lobby. We ate at Lotus Court for lunch, and the food was good. I enjoyed the dishes that we ordered, I especially loved Spinach with assorted seafood soup, and also the tofu dish. Meanwhile, breakfast buffet at Cafe Marco is a feast. There were a lot of options, and it is worth the price.
The room is spacious, like the usual international hotel rooms - and I liked the view from our room. I can see Roxas Night Market. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious as well. I hope that they would modernize bathroom fixtures and the room carpet, as well.
I also appreciate the staff at the hotel, because they are very patient, welcoming and were willing to help out in case I ask for something.
I had a good experience in Marco Polo Hotel, and I am sure that anyone who checks in here would have something good to say.
I have long wanted to visit Davao City and when I finally got the chance I have only one choice for a hotel to stay and that is Marco Polo Davao. I have been a loyal patron of Marco Polo Cebu and I have high expectaions for Marco Polo Davao. There was a palpable excitement as I was about to check in but it was different when we arrived. The lobby was small and chaotic and the smell stinks. It was past 3 when we arrived and out of the 2 rooms we booked only one was available. After an hour the room was not yet ready so I told the reception to give us a different room, luckily there was a room available. But the biggest letdown was the room. The smell was different, it was old and it showed. The furniture, the bathroom and the whole room seemed dated. The size was ok but the bed was only a double bed it was not a quuen bed. Much more the foam was thin and it was sagging. Definitely it has seen better days. There was a leak in the faucet inside the bathroom and the sink area was small. Right there and then I called the reception and requested to transfer to another room but she told me all the rooms were the same except for the suite rooms. We booked for three days but I decided to transfer to another hotel because I cannot stand the decay of the room I was in. But I told myself that there is still breakfast. And this was another big disappointment. Cafe Marco Davao was a farcry from Marco Polo Cebu. The set up was chaotic and the food choices were limited. But the biggest disppointment was there was no fresh orange juice and soft roll. This puzzled me as the orange juice and the soft roll were regular fares of the Cebu Cafe Marco. Perhaps I was wrong in expecting too much from Marco Polo Davao and comparing it with Marco Polo Cebu but I can't be blamed. Afterall they carry the Marco Polo brand and I expect they live up to the standard. They didn't and am not coming back to stay here and am not going to recommend Marco Polo Davao to any of my friends.
Good food at the restaurant with lots of food options. The room we got was a nice spacious room. The sink faucet was a bit leaking but overall, it was a great stay. Wish there was a library sort of amenity.
