How to Get There
This is a very nice hotel consisting of comfortable apartments and very nice sea views, though there is another hotel right in front of it. There is an excellent pool, gym and sauna and the breakfast is very good. The beach is a 5 minute walk away.
Very basic, but spacious and clean apartment.
If for a holiday you only want somewhere to sleep, and if not a fussy eater, then this is the place for you.
Absolutely nothing there to do.
The picture of the pool is very deceptive; if lucky you could get 20 people sitting around it, no umbrellas for shade.
Room for 3 persons. (kitchen equipment 3 knives, 3 forks, 3 spoons, 3 cups etc very basic) Hair dryer did not work when we arrived. Many tiles missing on the side of the bath, and a bracket on the sofa bed broken, so you sat on it and was nearly sitting on the floor. All should have been sorted before room allocated.
Food short of choice, run out of eggs, white bread for toast, milk, fruit during one breakfast service. Apart from when we had steak, the meat was mostly fat. Vegetables and Sweets very limited choice and the same night after night.
Spa very very small and in need of a makeover.
On our booking we asked for a quite location with the sun on the terrace from midday to late evening. Our room had, sun early morning till early afternoon. Took no notice of my request. Easily could have given us a room if allocated our room on the other side of the block. The hotel was not even fully booked.
Our package included free use of Spa, but when we first enquired at the reception they said we were not entitled to free use. It was not until we made them look at our booking details they agreed we were. You had to book a time for when you wanted to use the spa, as they needed to turn it on!
Wi fi ????? very very bad and you were charged for it.
Also charged for towels by the pool, bathrobes, safe and Wi Fi.
Vitamins shop attached to the hotel was the best thing there!!!
Returned for Janice's 60th. birthday. If you remember Jan was given the choice of several exotic locations, return to Maldives,Margareta,Quba Cayos, but chose Esmeralda Maris without hesitation. Last time we had a brilliant EXTRA special room, this time despite requesting many months ago... we had an "ordinary" room.... which was still brilliant but because we arrived mid week and the hotel was fuller the choice was limited. BUT still the quietest, friendliest most civilised of hotels. Staff were as helpful as they could be, location just right, we stayed 1/2 board again and the evening meals were a little limited but our friends [who chose Maris over the bigger H10 this time] thought they were as good as most hotels. The large lounge area, balcony, sun courtyard and self catering facilities for DIY lunch and picnics are remarkably flexible. n So book early, travel on Saturday or the other big change over days and you may get a better choice, however ALL rooms are quiet, guest respectful and staff helpful... like holidays used to be a home from home for those who like independence in an area you can explore on foot [great beaches on the doorstep] or use as a base to explore by hire car. We thought we had seen everything to see in Fourteventura, but found new places every day and old favourites to return to as well RECOMMENDED!
My husband, two friends and I went to The Esmeralda Maris complex for New Year and a bit of sunshine and we weren’t disappointed! Temperatures rose to 29 degrees so we caught the sun!
The bungalows we stayed in were very spacious and clean, and the little patios were just right for relaxing outside. We were in room 113 and our friends were in room 414. The view from the rooms was not marvellous, next time we’d like a better view of the sea! The food was very varied and with good choices. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we needed to print our boarding passes!
All in all we had a great time and hope to return for next New Year.
Just booked again for next year, we stayed late April 2017 and when I asked where we should go to celebrate a 60th. birthday in 2018 the Esmerelda apartments were favorite,
even over many more exotic locations. So not Costa Rica, not Mauritius, not Cape Verde or the Maldives again but the peace and tranquil Esmeralda Maris.
Last year friends stopped in the much busier [and more expensive] nearby Hotel and as soon as they stepped across to visit us, they wanted to transfer. Having much more room in the apartments, private sunbathing AND a spacious terrace with sea views was PERFECT. Add the fact you can choose half or full board or even just B&B PLUS be able to make up packed lunches or take outs or dine out or COOK whenever you want was brilliant. TRY IT ! after Esmeralda Maris all inclusive and the hurly burly of some package holidays will never appeal again. A perfect base for exploring by car or just soooooo much in easy walking distance, even though my wife is totally blind. Relax and enjoy.
